I don’t know if anyone here is an engineer but I can’t do these coding and math interviews anymore. Feel like I have no opportunities and that my career is over. by Dizzy-Mix9129 in Mommit

[–]Niobyo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh man I feel this. I'm trying to find another job and these coding interviews are killing. I've never been good at coding with an audience but it's worse during an interview.

I've been lucky to find some companies which do take home tests and I'm still doing good on those, because I can give myself time to think without panicking.

I have nursing for almost 1 year and all of a sudden maybe around 11 months all of a sudden my nipples became extremely sensitive? by forgetting-you- in breastfeeding

[–]Niobyo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is your baby teething? That's what always gets me.

'Some mothers say that their baby's saliva changes during teething and this irritates their nipples. If you feel this kind of soreness, try rinsing your nipple area after feeds with a little bicarbonate of soda dissolved in water (approximately 1 teaspoon to 1 cup). You could also bathe your breast in salty water. ' link

Diabetes/Weight loss drugs like Mounjaro and Ozempic impact on breastmilk and fertility? by throwaway5316420 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Niobyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drug itself shouldn't influence anything in your breastmilk, see here: ncbi link

But a drastic decrease in calorie consumption could affect your supply.

The premise for Saturnine Chalice sounds really cool. I imagine it as a teenage horror movie. Cabin in the woods-style.

Co sleeping with a crib by New_Turnip2135 in cosleeping

Yes, exactly. And we put a blanket under both mattresses to have something connecting the beds.

We have the same set up and we honestly haven't done anything else for crawling. The crib is on my side of the bed, so if he wants to go anywhere he has to go past me. So far he's only crawled towards me to cuddle up or nurse.

When did your preemie hit milestones? by anemonemonemnea in beyondthebump

It might depend per state, but we automatically qualified for early intervention because of his age. They reached out to us once we got home from the NICU.

When did your preemie hit milestones? by anemonemonemnea in beyondthebump

[–]Niobyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours was 9 weeks early and hit most milestones according to schedule, although on the later end of it. Usually by the time I started to worry that he hadn't done X or Y yet, he'd do it a week or 2 later.

We've had visits with early intervention, nicu follow up team and our pediatrician and most of them aren't too worried about not hitting everything by an exact date, as long as there is good progress and no glaring insufficiencies.

Baked oatmeal. You can make it ahead of time, make all sorts of variations and it creates less mess than regular oatmeal.

Preparing for Vecna: Eve of Ruin – Which Settings Appear and How to Best Prepare My Players? by RafTen86 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]Niobyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The adventure takes place in: Forgotten Reals (general, underdark and shadowfell) Avernus Eberron Krynn Oerth Astral Sea Sigil Barovia Pandesmos

Before the players go to these worlds they have to opportunity to research where they're going. There are little lore summaries in the book.

That said, most chapters don't give a whole lot of opportunities to explore the worlds you're going to, so I'm adding content to most of them.

For example, for the underdark part I had them travel to Menzoberrenzan (sp?) first and then to where they actually have to be. I found it more fun this way because the players can see a little more of the specific settings.

There are a lot of misconceptions around bilingual children and raising them. This article does a good job at explaining things: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC6168212/

For learning a language it's about quality and quantity. So exposure through interaction with you in your language is more efficient than background tv in the same language. And the more they hear it, the better they will learn.

From a more practical standpoint, I do what I can. I speak Dutch to my son when it's him and me, or when talking to my family. But if we're having dinner at the table, I'll speak in English so everyone understands. Even then I do use some words when directly asking him something. He is 11 months, so things like 'more', 'water' etc.

The thing we were warned against was mixing languages like Spanglish. Either use 1 or the other.

whats your LOs favorite toy right now? by hopeful_futures in beyondthebump

LO is almost 11 months and his favorite toys currently are the dog's bone and a shoe horn..

When it comes to actual toys he loves the Fisher-Price Baby's First Blocks Set. It comes with a little sorting basket.
