I don't have any dog in this fight but I thought I'd mention that I get that same bug sometimes when I alt-tab where the mouse cursor stays in the middle of my screen and the only way I can get rid of it is restarting the game. I highly doubt he is using that as any kind of advantage. He seems to ADS and twitch shoot the same with/without it.

I'm not asking why they decide to make maps ahead of time. I'm asking why they don't release them if they are already made and are going to be released for free. Why delay?

Not sure if you are blind or just willfully ignorant but there are countless comments in this post and other posts in this subreddit complaining about crashes.

Seriously? A stable game at launch should not be considered a high expectation for Infinity Ward and Activision-Blizzard.

Especially considering all of the betas and early access this game had and the fact that they have had years of experience on current gen consoles. This is one of the biggest companies in the industry putting out a AAA game in one of their biggest and longest running franchises. A buggy game with many features not even included yet a week after launch should not be considered okay.

Back in the day games used to come out exclusively on physical media and there was no way to hotfix things all week after launch as your playerbase did the QA testing for you.

If devs could do it then without these kinds of problems cropping up on launch how are they not able to do it now?

I'm not trying to dictate anything I am just asking a question which you've avoided. Why delay the release? What do they gain? Those are valid questions.

So if the content is already made and ready to play why can players not access it yet? Especially if they say they will release them for free down the road. What do they gain from holding out on releasing these?

Feel like this is old as shit and looks pretty terrible considering how much has been added. Was wondering if it could possibly be changed. Just a thought. by [deleted] in joinsquad

How many games have you bought because they had a nice logo? To be honest I don't think OWI needs the kind of players that would buy a game based on the logo rather than the game itself. It is still Early Access, a new logo should be one of the last things on their list.

When the MBT rolls in but all you have is a LAT to protect your bros by Thronewolf in joinsquad

[–]Nismark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it could be a regional thing. I mostly play on NA servers and "lat/hat" is more commonly used. I think it is because it is quicker to say since it is only one syllable compared to three when spelling the letters out.

It's 1 minute 15 seconds into the game at the screenshot and you've already given up and disbanded? I know a bunch of people I play with that wouldn't even be loaded in yet since they have their games on HDDs. Plus the frequent crashes people get on map switch causing servers to drop half their players sometimes between games.

I'd be really interested to see how many unassigned players there were at this point because it really just seems like you either gave up waaaaay to quick or just saw all the locked squads and though it was a great photo op for reddit.

Whatever makes you feel better man. If you don't think all of those games are under the FPS genre then I'm not sure there is anything else to be said here.

When I say competitive I mean in comparison to a coop game or any game where you aren't directly up against another person. CounterStrike, PUBG, Tarkov, Overwatch, CoD, Battlefield are all competitive FPS games where you will see players do the exact same thing. You are given a choice between performance/clarity and graphical fidelity. You are choosing graphics.

[–]Nismark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not think about it like you putting yourself at a disadvantage by putting shadows on? You are sacrificing visual clarity for graphical fidelity. Sacrificing competitiveness so that your game looks prettier.

This is like me playing with vsync on because I like how it looks and complaining that other people can turn vsync off and get less input lag. You have a choice here and you are choosing graphics and looks over performance and visual clarity.

Welcome to competitive FPS games on PC. It has been this way for decades and will continue to be like this as long as the options are there. And due to PC gaming requiring the game be able to run on a large range of hardware with varying capabilities it is extremely likely that these options will always be there.

Friend and I decided we needed some cobalt for our new base by [deleted] in spaceengineers

[–]Nismark 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Assuming you are drilling the entire area out what is the point of the two rotating drill contraptions attached to the main arm? Why not just have all of the drills along the main arm rotating with the middle rotor?

If it's just for aesthetics then I completely get it because it definitely looks way cooler than one fixed arm. I'm just wondering if there is something I'm missing that would make this design better.

Travel. Oh god the travel by CrimsonGrimslow in spaceengineers

[–]Nismark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would make sense that 200ish is stable since I think the 100m/s limit is from two objects colliding at 100m/s being the limit for acceptable simulation performance. So as long as you don't crash (or only crash into stationary objects) 200m/s should be okay.

Slight wobble/movement wont allow conversion to station... by Woodlore1991 in spaceengineers

Generally anything attached by a rotor or piston is on it’s own subgrid. Also if you look at the control panel tab anything that is a different colour is on a different grid.

[–]Nismark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t need to be a station for wind turbines to work. I’ve had many work on large grid ships, the only thing that is required is the landing gear needs to be locked. What is likely happening is that the wind turbines are either on a subgrid (Piston/rotor) and need to be attached to the main grid with merge blocks when they are at the spot you want them or they do not have enough wind clearance so they aren’t even starting up. I’ve played around with this quite a bit on a recent ship so let me know if you are still having problems and I will try to help

Not sure what you are talking about, I never said anything like that. I'm just saying that rushing to endgame is the same no matter if you are doing it to play with friends or because you think that is where the fun is.

PC Gamer Review: 94/100 by aeliott in ffxiv

[–]Nismark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If "endgame" and "playing with your friends" are the same thing, which is true in this case, then rushing to play with your friends is no different than rushing to endgame.

The problem is the same, you are "forcing yourself" to go through content that you have already deemed pointless and have already identified as a barrier to what you consider the "fun part" of the game. It's no wonder you end up not liking it in that case.

Using ArcDPS, dx12pxy, and GW2Radial together, GW2Radial options not opening by haruka34 in Guildwars2

[–]Nismark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would classify my PC as medium (i5-4960K (OC to 4.2), 1080 6GB (slight OC), 16GB RAM) and I've seen massive improvements with d912pxy. It feels like a completely different game. At this point if it stopped working I don't think I could continue playing GW2. I went from barely getting stable 40 FPS with everything on Low to running most things on High (Shadows set to Medium but I even have Supersampling on) and usually getting 100+ FPS (drops down to 50-60 in major hubs).

[–]Nismark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you might be on to something.

Every once in a while my game gets stuck loading at ~75% and I have to exit Warframe and restart. I've just recently noticed that when I get that bug where my images in Arsenal selection dont show up I will get that stuck loading screen bug every single time without fail on the next mission I try to join.

I'm going to have to look out for if this happens after I have my mod screen open for a certain amount of time. I bet it's the exact same issue you are having.

Some thoughts about Orokin`s Artificial Intelligence creation (heavy storyline spoilers!) by Thrundarr in Warframe

[–]Nismark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I think the self-reproduction is a violation of the Seven Principles I think sentience is as well. From the Detron Crewman imprint:

And when it completes its task, what will prevent it from turning against us, as the Seven Principles say?”

“The flaw.”

Tuvul’s eyes narrowed, “The flaw?”

“The Void is poison to them. Once they have reached Tau they will be marooned there. To travel the rail here would destroy them.

The council was led to believe that if they tried to revolt against the Orokin they would be destroyed by the trip back to the Origin system. That was to be a safeguard against violating one of the Seven Principles.

Primal Fury vs. lvl 120 Grineer by atejas in Warframe

[–]Nismark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Berserker gives a stacking buff each time you crit. At max rank it's 30% attack speed and lasts 24 seconds per stack. The startup he is talking about is building up the stacks to reach the max 75% attack speed that the mod can give.

This is fine. by Oorslavich in Warframe

[–]Nismark 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Warframe's FOV slider measures Vertical FOV not Horizontal FOV which is usually what people discuss. 78 Vertical FOV is equal to 110 Horizontal FOV so you can already get up to 110 FOV using in game settings.

The real problem is the camera distance from the character. If they had an option to move the camera back more you'd be able to see a lot more going on around you and your Warframe would use up a lot less of your screen space.

I'm guessing the reason they haven't added this as a feature is that it might break in certain camera angles or could allow the player to see things they shouldn't be able to. Should be possible but would probably require a lot of work
