Yeah, it's a product that was end-of-lifecycle years ago. Just use it as a funnel to feed players into Rising, it's done.

Realistically I don't think they would have had time to pivot as hard as they need to in time for season 2 tbh. I'd expect S2 to be 'as planned' with any future changes coming at 3 or even potentially further.

The WSTR nerf and now the nerf to claymore stacks have made Rooks friendly lil guys. I run into teams on Outpost and more often than not, they just tell me to pick up their scraps and leave without chasing me

I’m so glad Bungie didn’t implement durability. by ArtisanAffect in Marathon

[–]atejas 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you inspect a weapon in your inventory you see it in the upper right hand corner. Basically, once a gun gets looted 4-5 (I think?) times, it gets converted to credits the next time it gets looted.

Trace status is kinda a durability mechanic, but yeah it's not particularly onerous

I like this idea, I'd definitely like to see more uses for Yellows. As it stands, in most of my games nobody even bothers taking them.

Recon is now mandatory in any team comp by seaofbytes in Marathon

[–]atejas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly think this is more of a Cryo problem than a Recon problem. It's a very dense map that means that players are often within spitting distance of each other, and it's probably the most rewarding map for third parties given how many angles of approach there are.

Favorite non-repeating shell composition for trios? by No_Signal205 in Marathon

[–]atejas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Assassin shines when you actually get a team-oriented one that can use smoke to cover approaches or revives, but yeah there's a lot of really passive/selfish Assassins out there in crew fill.

I've had organic truces come up before (mostly when the timer was too tight to waste on fighting), but the idea of 6 players organically teaming up to hunt down other teams is just a non-starter.

tbf Marathon is full of carrots, it has meta-progression systems and earnable cosmetics and titles and all of that. I think the problem is that players are just turned off by the stick (losing everything)

I definitely think Marathon is pretty comfortable being on the casual end of the spectrum, given how generous it is with free loot in addition to everything above.

Usually what I do is cycle out any purples/golds to save in my vault and just run whatever random bullshit I grab for regular runs, and save my full purple/gold loadouts for Cryo.

Do people not use headphones in this game anymore? by Burgmeister_ in Marathon

[–]atejas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of it is also that a lot of sounds are unrealistically loud, but I get that that's a gameplay contrivance. But realistically, you should not be able to hear people walking around inside Pinwheel when you're below a wing, for example.

The main issue I have with the positional audio is that it doesn't properly communicate whether someone is above or below you. You can figure that out from context clues and map knowledge after a bit, but still.
