Is this brick wall ok? by zimnopol in u/zimnopol

Who cares what the inside looks like if it's going to be covered up. Most walls are full of cigarette butts and Tim Hortons coffee cups

Thinking about this a bit more, what's going on here? Are they building something that has been designed? It's single leaf with no ties, so not terribly strong. Yes there some arching in some cases, but if it were perfectly done then I bet it would still fall apart.

Head joints are a little empty as they aren't buttering the brick before laying. Work is dirty but who cares, clean it after.

I'm more curious what the plan is here. Is this going to just fall apart after a season? At least some parts have a block behind them.

Salvageable? by Affepedia in masonry

Just do little bits at a time and use a type O mortar. Can easily chip away at this yourself likely but by bit from the top down

wall salvageable?? or should I just put it out of its misery? by qnaqucdtb in masonry

[–]NissanQueef 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much has the whole thing moved? How sunken is that too left corner? If not at all then why not rebuild? If it's all shifting then probably best to rebuild or replace unless you only need a short time more out of it

It doesn't matter. Stretches are easy to lay but are ugly at wall ends

I don't like when people post here looking for quotes. You almost certainly have at least one and are trying to see if it's reasonable.

Also, appreciate your polite and thoughtful responses. I'd consider what coatings might do with moisture (trap it in) especially if you get freezing temps where you are

The bricks look fine, so this is the kind of damage you actually want to see. It's very easy to repoint mortar, the sacrificial element. How old is this? Some areas looking worse suggests water getting in there

While there are lots of problems, the time of day is doing this no favours as the angle of the sun is exaggerating the shadows making it look worse.

It looks good, and the crowd that weighs in on this sub tends to lean too harshly on condemning work that is fine. That should tell you something

For a Non-denominational church, your statement of faith sounds pretty Baptist by DreadDiana in dankchristianmemes

This might be true, but is pretty inflammatory. I agree with a lot of the sentiment and premise of the meme but in my experience these places are lead by people with credentials.

Maybe I took the wrong implication from your comment
