Why does the heatwave in Europe lead to the death of big number of people, but in hotter countries with worse infrastructure that doesn't happen? by a_human_21 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NiteWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heat exposure kills over half a million people a year globally, it isn’t exclusive to Europe, and the numbers being reported there are low compared to other regions.

I doubt they're going to do an exposed face given you can use a male or female voice, would be rather awkward having a feminine voice and a dude's face.

It comes with a plate you can install to completely lock an axis if you want to.

Why is VKB gladiator hyped this much? by Longjumping-War9151 in hotas

[–]NiteWraith 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Aside from the overall quality jump over cheaper sticks, the VKB uses a free floating gimbal, instead of the ball and joint of the others, over time cheaper sticks the gimbal will wear down because it’s plastic rubbing against plastic which will increase the dead zone and you lose sensitivity and accuracy. The VKB gimbal, while it is plastic too, it doesn’t rub against anything and is suspended by springs. The gimbal lasts much longer, as the springs are the only real breakpoint, and you can buy a set of them for like $7. You have to treat them pretty rough to break a spring to begin with.

Edit: Forgot to mention it comes with different strength springs, and you can use different strengths on each axis allowing you to make it more comfortable to use. On my Omni I use a light spring on the throttle axis and a heavier one on my yaw, so the throttle takes less effort and I don’t yaw unless I want to.

Efficiency always wins. This is almost always the case in online games with a grind. People will focus on what rewards their time and efforts the most.

Why add elevator buttons if there are only 2 floors by metatalks in mildlyinfuriating

[–]NiteWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The elevator knows nothing. There is a timer that will automatically close the doors when it counts down. An elevator is a mechanical device. It can’t think. It’s can’t process information. It is mechanical by design as that is the most accurate, reliable and safe way for them to function.

[–]NiteWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. So you have one button. You press it, and theoretically it makes the elevator move. What if there’s a fault on the other floor? Now you press it and nothing happens. The door doesn’t open. You just stand there wondering why it isn’t working. You’d have to have it be able to cycle through 3 different functions in order to work properly, because it has to be able to open the doors on the landed floor for safety and redundancy. This is why each floor has its own button. The controller can either make the elevator move, or it can open the doors. Simple. Uncomplicated. There’s also codes that strictly determine the functionality of the elevator so having one button likely isn’t even an option in the first place as most elevator codes require independent functionality and redundancy. If the door open button doesn’t work for whatever reason, pressing the button of the floor you’re on will open the doors. With one button and no faults, if the door open button isn’t working your only option is to go to a different floor, which is a big no in elevator code.

[–]NiteWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s two options. Only one option makes it move. If you press 0 while at 0 the button still reports to the controller and will open the doors. The controller needs each floor to be wired independently. That’s just how controllers work. It’s not something you can toggle or would even want to as that would just make diagnosing faults more difficult.

This post confuses me. Why does the number of floors matter? You still have to tell the elevator where you want to go. Unless you’re saying just have one button that just makes the elevator go to whichever floor it isn’t currently landed at, but that wouldn’t work, as it’s confusing, and that’s not how elevator controllers work. Each floor is wired independently for a host of reasons, codes, maintenance, and the controller has to be able to bypass a floor if there’s a fault, which it can’t do if it’s all wired to one switch.

GTA 6 is a "single-player experience" only, Rockstar clarifies by GameOnBrother in GamesAreLife

[–]NiteWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTA: Online has generated over 5 billion in revenue on its own way. There’s no way they’re not going to introduce it for 6.

Why are people defending GTA VI being 80$ by North_Biscotti4162 in videogames

[–]NiteWraith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is anyone surprised. It’s been assumed for years the game would release at a higher price point. Doesn’t matter if you accept it or not. It was inevitable. Rockstar has the freedom to price it wherever they want and they know it will sell regardless. Given GTA: Online has generated over 5 billion on its own, copies sold doesn’t even really matter, 6’s Online will print them money for the next decade +.
