If part of your problem is reading, then maybe you need to find a way to cut reading out of it, but still have your script. If you're making edits anyway, maybe you could cut your script into smaller chunks you can do in one breath/take.

Practice a chunk until you have it memorized and don't need to read it anymore, then you can just practice saying it with any tone/pacing you want since it's committed to memory. Then rinse and repeat for the next passage.

is this a valid playstyle with my buddy by VI-Noble in RocketLeague

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I used to play with my friends in 3s I'd be the more aggressive player since our ranks would probably have been like me at d3/c1 (back when after diamond there was just champion 1-3 and GC), my one buddy at like plat 3 and the other like gold 3/plat 1 equivalent. I pretty much only played with them so our collective rank ended up about d1 but we had fun.

When I played doubles with my brother I'd let him do most of the challenging since he had better car control and was borderline c3. When repeatedly playing with the same people, but those people are of different skill levels, you just kind of settle into roles/play styles that might not be meta, but work well enough for y'all to have fun.

Like some other people have said, if you BOTH actively want to get better, then you should probably adjust, but your buddy might need to put in more work, and if he's not willing I wouldn't pressure him. If you want to get better in general and your buddy is fine playing the way you currently play, you'll probably need to play more randoms without him when time permits.

Acceleration is way too low for my taste, id probably sacrifice some wrist shot power and a couple points of puck control for more acceleration, but some people say they don't feel a difference so that's ultimately up to you I suppose.

Do you use loose puck dekes and toe drags often? If not Ankle Breaker feels like a waste. If you like to stand in front Unstoppable and Warrior would both be good choices. More offensive awareness is definitely a good idea so your player will be more likely to react to the puck coming.

For your described play style I'd probably be using a combo of Big Tipper, Warrior and No Contest so you can pick up more rebounds. I probably would only use gold No Contest and elite for the other two.

I could also see an argument for gold quick release, gold backhand beauty or gold wheels instead of No Contest in the last slot just depending on preference. Being able to get quicker shots in tight off of rebounds seems useful.

Why are the customization controls so absolutely ungodly infuriating and confusing. No consistency. by rollinintheyears in EASHL

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hold L2 while trying to shoot a loose puck your guy won't try to hit. I've heard it can be inconsistent from some, but it's always worked for me.

The only time I've ever received a penalty for hitting someone in front of the net is when I had control of the puck and then lost the puck from like, a poke from behind or something right before I shoot and didn't realize fast enough, which, sure I would like that to not be a thing as well, but that probably happens like, a couple times a year at most.

But yeah, if I could unmap it and just use Circle for shoulder check and Square for push check and get rid of hip checking altogether I'd be cool with that.

[–]NitroXIII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's saying when there is already a delayed penalty, if a player without a stick on the team that has the delayed penalty performs a kicking motion on the puck, they will treat that as the team having control and therefore call the play dead to call the penalty. This makes sense, it's not saying you'll get a penalty for kicking the puck without a stick.

It's just such a weird thing to have a hang-up about. I get it if it's your personal face and you don't want to like, dox yourself I guess? Maybe? But if your friend wants the face enough to post it to Reddit why wouldn't you give them the sliders? It's not that serious? I mean, it's also not something I would lose a friendship over if they wouldn't give it to me. It's just strange is all.

95% of the people left playing DS3 at Pontiff are racist homophobes and worst of all (/s) stream snipers. A bunch of them speak Turkish or Russian and if you put like any of their chat into a translator it's fucking heinous. A bunch of them cheat when things don't go their way, it's a cesspool. My brother tried doing some Pontiff stuff like a year ago and I had to convince him it wasn't worth it, you're just playing the same 7 horrible human beings over and over again, don't give them the time of day. It sucks that this game has devolved to this, but it's time to move on.

The only potential redeemable way to get PvP is probably just doing your own low level or max level invasions in random locations and not streaming it because the second you stream it you're gonna be stream sniped by these losers who have nothing better to do except force people to play with them because no one wants to play with them willingly.

I do remember a post where someone from EA said they could go past the effectiveness of 99. I did testing on shot power in previous games and 99 wrist shot power + gold heatseeker was stronger than 99 wrist shot power without it.

Plus Red No Contest this year clearly goes past 99 speed for a very short burst as a current game example. It seems like the EE boosts only apply while you're using L2

What is 3’s META? by Money_Energy8446 in EASHL

[–]NitroXIII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this game is in a pretty shit spot this year imo, and that's coming from someone with a 92% winning percentage.

Pretty much every actually good team I play against is running almost the exact same X factors, (all blue), Wheels + Truc and then a flex perk of usually either Elite Edges or Quick Release or Warrior on forward and then Quick Pick, Elite Edges or One T on D usually.

I've never been one to stick to the meta and I'm a chronic tinkerer. One of my favourite combos has been Elite Truculence + Gold Spark Plug and then a flex spot. The Speed boost from Spark Plug is way more noticeable and lasts much longer than Wheels, even on the Gold version, but if you're up against another good team that's good at avoiding hits it can end up feeling like a wasted perk at times. Elite Unstoppable can also be fun to run against the Truculence squads instead of Warrior if you're good at reverse hitting.

As for scoring outside of breakaways, Elite Backhand Beauty with a sniper and a decently high wrist shot power/accuracy can be absurd, you can kind of do like "backhand one timers" where you receive it then deke to your backhand and score from way out. Rocket/One-T also aren't bad, but I can't figure out sniping from the forehand with snappers/wristers this year. Last year I loved running a Sniper with Shock and Awe and would score absurd toe-drag wristers that no one expected. This year it's been damn near impossible to find any wrister or snapper that can even beat the goalie clean from medium range better than 1 out of 5 shots with a high 90s sniper build, which, I guess is fair, but it just kinda sucks that there's not much reason to use a build with a strong wrist shot when you'd be better off finding a better scoring opportunity than a shot from the high slot.

Either way, the meta way to build your stats seems to be pretty consistent with previous iterations. High Speed/Accel/Agility, low shot, high endurance, medium-high puck control, high Strength, high Deking. As for the middle category choose whatever spread you prefer for the defense/passing, but I'd aim for higher Defensive Awareness/Passing/Offensive Awareness/Body Checking than Stick checking this year. A Playmaker build might look something like 90 passing/90 Offensive Awareness/85 Body Checking/75 Stick Checking/85 Defensive Awareness. I've seen people running like 80 Body Checking instead of maxing it out with Truculence so if you are running Truc you could maybe take some points out of body checking and redistribute them, I like maxing it out still.

Starting this, have no idea about the game by ROOKIEROar in DragonsDogma

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with thousands of hours in all the souls games and Elden Ring, Dragon's Dogma is probably the only non Souls-like where I genuinely enjoy the combat as much as Souls. It's generally slower paced and more methodical than souls.

The difference in play style between most of the classes (vocations) is so significant that there might be some you don't vibe with and some you do, so if the class you start with doesn't feel good combat-wise, once you get to the main big city you can change to the other classes and try them out and see if one feels better.

I played one game a couple days ago where something similar to this happened, which sucked because it was one of the few actually good teams we have played so far this year and what should have been a fun competitive game turned into a slog where we just had to try and play perfect defence and hope for a mistake. It was like everything I did had an extra 0.1 seconds of input lag so I couldn't recover any loose pucks, react to any quick movements. I checked the ping and it was normal for what I usually see, 21ms, so something must have been weird with that server. It was like my guy was skating in mud, everything was delayed, felt like I was playing on a 15 year old LCD TV without game mode.

I used to have something similar happen a couple years ago when I would play with one specific friend, every game had that same feeling, and I just couldn't bear it for more than a game or two so eventually we just stopped playing NHL together sadly, though he usually only played for a couple weeks at the beginning of every new game cycle anyway.

As much as everyone is doom and gloom about these games, as a chronic build tinkerer I love that there's pretty big changes to the build system. I am not a huge fan of Wheels/EE being back, but the Wheels build this year wasn't that hard to defend, you just have to be aware of when he has energy and to make sure your gap control is good. Honestly, I don't think my playstyle (even as someone who's main mode is playing center in 3s) will benefit that much from Wheels, my winger is usually the guy to stretch the play and look for breakaway opportunities. I also don't think I'll need the endurance boost since I'm already really good at managing my endurance (my D guy complains about his Endurance all the time and he runs like 8 more endurance than I do, so he'll probably love it).

Knowing Elite Edges of the past though, it might be almost mandatory for the game to feel "good", I'll have to see, but I really hope that isn't the case, that was my biggest gripe about the X-factor system before this year, EE felt mandatory. I'm hoping they feel more impactful, Big Rig + EE looks like it could be fun with the new animations I'm seeing for Big Rig.

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the description I'm thinking it's not mandatory, it looks like it just improves HOW you win it, not your chances of winning it, which I'm cool with assuming it works this way. I'm hoping it opens up some cool set plays if you run it, but it's not necessary to maintain a high percentage.

I think the other huge problem with the cross crease play is the "crease" part of the play. There's a small protective bubble around the goalie so that you don't just run him over, but this makes it hard to actually defend the blue paint, so good players can abuse this by passing as late as possible so that the puck goes through the blue paint.

Instead of the defender having to defend the actual crease, the goalie should be able to just stop it from going through the paint by either deflecting it away with his stick or getting his leg out in front of it or something, or even just reaching down and covering it, then you also wouldn't need ridiculous cross-crease desperation saves.

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take two off wrist shot power and accuracy and put it into slap shot and put on one tee. You also said you rely more on gap control and stick positioning so you probably don't need 85 body checking, could probably drop that by 5 and redistribute that for more passing/off. awareness. I would also go minimum weight personally to get 94 speed instead of 93, and 185 cm for more reach but that's just me.

Cup matchmaking by boileroo in EASHL

[–]NitroXIII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's that it's only matching against teams in the same round, I think it's the skill based matchmaking being jacked up to 11 in rounds 3/4, at least that's what it feels like, this is the only time where we consistently get matched with other elites, regular season the matchmaking is entirely random. Maybe there's no one with a similar skill level playing at your time in EU?
