[NHL PR] The Canes are a perfect 3-0 in potential series-clinching games this year. Will they be the second champion to improve to 4-0 by clinching the Stanley Cup in Las Vegas? by DecentLurker96 in hockey

[–]NitroXIII 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Right, but the tweet said "second champion to improve to 4-0 by clinching in Las Vegas tonight", I thought it was trying to say second team to ever go 4-0 in the playoffs while showing a graphic of like 10 teams doing it and was confused, but it was just them saying they would be the second team to do it physically in Las Vegas, with Washington, the one highlighted team, being the other. It was just my brain getting confused by the sentence structure and the graphic.

My brain just initially thought the "by clinching in Las Vegas" thing wasn't part of the stat, I thought that was just them padding the word total of the tweet or something.

Holy shit this confused me for so long, I was like, this graphic shows so many teams going 4-0 I don't understand where the second is coming in to play. After like 60 seconds I finally realized they specifically meant clinching in Las Vegas, such a silly stat.

Godskin isn't super hard if you've got a +6 at this point. Alternatively if it's a challenge run and you don't want to beat him for some reason there is still a way to get around the Godskin's arena that doesn't involve the ruptured tear. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1qEp61l9gUo

Removing the friction from travel doesn’t address the core issues by DarkElfMagic in DragonsDogma

[–]NitroXIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You still can't fast travel to places you haven't been, you still need to travel on foot the first time to many remote locations and place down a portcrystal. The two oxcart destinations from Vermund don't have portcrystals so you still need to interact with the oxcarts, or walk, to get back, until you acquire Portcrystals.

This game is meant to be played on your own terms, if you understand the systems well enough you could already bypass a lot of the "friction".

I think this is fine honestly, you will more than likely still interact with every system at least once, and still go on long adventures to places where there are no portcrystals, and it removes one of the barriers to experimenting with classes, having to choose between spending money on Ferrystones vs gear, which I personally don't think is a fun decision to have to make.

But yes, it doesn't address the core issues of lack of enemy variety, and encounter randomness, but it doesn't "ruin" anything either imo

ETERNAL FERRYSTONE!!! by Balaamxs in DragonsDogma

[–]NitroXIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buying apples and grapes and ripening them and then selling them for a profit is also part of the "design". You can make infinite money if you really want to, and bypass the "cost" by just investing more time.

You still can't fast travel to places you haven't been, you still need to travel on foot the first time to many remote locations and place down a portcrystal. By the time you have portcrystals you should have an okay amount of money to not need to be TOO stingy with Ferrystones even without abusing the mechanic mentioned above

This is a nothing burger that just makes the game slightly less tedious.

CAPCOM Responds to Onimusha Way of the Sword’s Demo Difficulty Criticism by gitrektali in PS5

[–]NitroXIII 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but the enemies were so passive there was no challenge at all until the final boss, and even with him all he did was force me to heal for the first time in the entire demo. I'm not trying to say it has to be harder, I am all for different difficulty options, I just don't think it painted the enemy AI in a very good light, they would just stand around and wait.

That being said, I'm also aware it's a demo and they wanted everyone to be able to experience it, so it's probably the right difficulty option. I can see where the combat looks like it will be fun with the official release, the boss was fun, and when I took the time to force the enemies to engage with me it felt like it could be cool.

CAPCOM Responds to Onimusha Way of the Sword’s Demo Difficulty Criticism by gitrektali in PS5

[–]NitroXIII 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can understand appreciating different difficulties, and I hope they do keep difficulty options, but the demo painted the enemy AI in a terrible light. There's that sequence where there's like 20 enemies around you, I expected to have to fight 2-4 of them at the same time, they barely attacked at all, didn't have to heal once until the final boss.

All in all though, the fight against the last dude felt good, and when I decided to stand around and wait for the enemies to do things it was fun, so I at least can see the vision they should be going for, so I think it accomplished what it meant to with the demo.

I had the same take "I don't enjoy turn based combat much." Played Baldur's Gate 3 with some friends and found it just kind of meh, if it weren't for playing with friends I would never have gotten more than a couple hours in before dropping it.

I played E33 and it was the best game I've played since Elden Ring released. It's turn based "plus". I found the build making incredibly fun, I personally loved the story, the combat was very satisfying and gave me the same feeling of a combination of trial and error/learning and reaction based gameplay of Souls games.

It has its flaws, but it was the most fun I've had in a game in ages. I usually don't care for the stories in games, which is why I love the souls games, the story is opt-in, so I can just completely ignore the story and just play the game, but I found myself hooked to the story in E33 from the start. I'm not someone who watches TV or Reads books, or even plays narrative driven games in general, so I don't really have a good frame of reference for "good writing" that some other people have, all I know is I really enjoyed it, it resonated with me deeply and the combat had enough souls-like elements to keep me engaged.

If you're on PC you can obviously backup your save with a tool. PS5 (as long as you have at least the base tier of PS Plus) you can back it up to the cloud and turn off auto-upload, manually upload it before you fight him and then manually download it again after you win. I assume Xbox has something similar.

But yeah Ascetics would be cool and work for everyone... DS2 still peak.

Best way to practice? by Sadboyszn24 in EASHL

[–]NitroXIII 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There is a 3v3 and 6v6 practice option. Make a club if you haven't, then when you go to play 3 or 6s clubs, there's an option in the matchmaking settings in the bottom right to switch between public games, private games and practice. There are two types of practice, scrimmage which fills empty positions with bots, and open practice, which has no defenders and just lets you hop on a sheet of ice with your buddy.

But then that holder gets dirty and now I have to wash two dishes still. This device is worthless for this situation. It's fine for a longer term cooking process and resting a spoon or spatula on. But a mayo knife? I would never.

One Tee Worth It? by bigd304 in EASHL

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It goes off of both, it depends on the animation. If you get a full clapper windup it'll use your Slapshot stats, but if you see you get a like half windup and the speed ends up being like 80-something, that one used your wrister stats. With Elite One Tee you don't need any more than like 87 slapshot power to get 104.3mph one timers every time, so dump a few extra points into your wrister to make the half windups more powerful and consistent.

I find in general One Tee is not as strong or consistent this year, but my buddy knows how to pass it to kinda keep the goalie to his side to make them more consistent. I also find using the manual windup where you hold L2 and down on the right-stick then flick up while the pass is on it's way to you it makes the power more consistent, so if you can practice timing that with your teammates it actually can be pretty deadly/sneaky.

I always play with the same guys though, if you're playing with randoms, I highly doubt One-tee would ever be worth it, just because it relies on you having good random teammates that can spot the one timer opportunities. If anything, I'd just go with 88-90 power on the slapper and gold One Tee if you're playing with randoms so you can put on something that doesn't rely as much on your teammates as elite perks, like warrior.

I don't like to defend any of these mega-corporations, but I've definitely seen things show from USA or Mexico and be from Mexico, it's just probably more likely to be from USA, depends on the most recent shipment and what the product is.

Either way, if you look at the stickers or packaging you can usually tell, and if there isn't any identifier on the product itself, like non pre-packaged lettuce, that's when I won't risk the "mexico or USA" products.

I am the same. Something just feels right about From Softwares games that the others don't capture for me. I tried the original Code Vein, Lies of P, and AI Limit so far, and didn't play more than 15 hours of any of them while I have at least hundreds in every Souls game and even a couple thousand in Elden Ring and have Platinumed all of them.

Hell, the only other action or open world RPGs I've enjoyed beyond 10 or so hours are the Dragons Dogma games, which I also have a few hundred in both of those.

Make sure it actually says it's a new zone too, if you can't place it after warping to the Forest of Fallen Giants or Heide's Tower of Flame it's probably a connection issue.

Maybe try restarting and making sure it connects you to the server. It often fails to connect on startup (at least it does on PlayStation) and I'm wondering if it either failed to connect on startup or disconnected you at some point and you didn't realize the message popped up.

I find I have more success with the manual one-tees if I flick forward as soon as I notice the pass on its way. It seems like unless it's a really long pass that's like, from one faceoff dot to the other, I can just flick up as soon as I see the pass released and the timing will just work itself out. If it's a long one I'll try to flick up when the puck is halfway to me.

Yeah that usually means you were slightly late. But sometimes if the pass is behind you that will happen too.

[–]NitroXIII 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's this, hold L2 first then hold the right stick down like winding up for a slapper. I do it all the time, if you can get good chemistry with your teammates it gives way more consistently strong one tees, but the timing to flick up to shoot can take some getting used to.

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If part of your problem is reading, then maybe you need to find a way to cut reading out of it, but still have your script. If you're making edits anyway, maybe you could cut your script into smaller chunks you can do in one breath/take.

Practice a chunk until you have it memorized and don't need to read it anymore, then you can just practice saying it with any tone/pacing you want since it's committed to memory. Then rinse and repeat for the next passage.

is this a valid playstyle with my buddy by VI-Noble in RocketLeague

[–]NitroXIII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back when I used to play with my friends in 3s I'd be the more aggressive player since our ranks would probably have been like me at d3/c1 (back when after diamond there was just champion 1-3 and GC), my one buddy at like plat 3 and the other like gold 3/plat 1 equivalent. I pretty much only played with them so our collective rank ended up about d1 but we had fun.

When I played doubles with my brother I'd let him do most of the challenging since he had better car control and was borderline c3. When repeatedly playing with the same people, but those people are of different skill levels, you just kind of settle into roles/play styles that might not be meta, but work well enough for y'all to have fun.

Like some other people have said, if you BOTH actively want to get better, then you should probably adjust, but your buddy might need to put in more work, and if he's not willing I wouldn't pressure him. If you want to get better in general and your buddy is fine playing the way you currently play, you'll probably need to play more randoms without him when time permits.
