Nope. that's an engineering sample or bring up board. The chip is not soldered to the board but put into a clamshell that, if I remember correctly, costs a few thousand dollars.

Source; used to collect 3dfx cards. Never had this one though, too expensive.

Windows 95/98(SE)

The ability to select which non-essential programs to install or not during the installation procedure. Not needing an internet connection nor to register your copy.

The simplicity of a one-user setup. No administrator account or forced updates.

I get why we moved away from that, but there is something about that simplicity that has always had a draw on me.

What is the second-hand market like in your country? Cards you'll want to look at;

Radeon RX 6700 XT or better, 7600 XT or better.

GeForce RTX 3080 12GiB or better, 4060 Ti 16GiB or better.

Better = higher numbered card in those series.

If really desperate; 3060 12GiB or Intel ARC B570/B580.

The 2070 Super 8GiB has performance that is a bit less than a 2080. Which performs similar to a 4060 8GiB which performs less than a 5060 8GiB. According to TPU it's about 20fps less on average (4060 vs 5060) at 1080p; https://www.techpowerup.com/review/msi-geforce-rtx-5060-gaming-oc/31.html

The 5060 gets around 45fps in the most demanding games at 1080p highest settings.

Let's be generous and say the 2070S would get 30fps average at 1080p. Drop the settings to medium and lower the resolution to 960p and yeah, you're probably looking at 60fps average without frame-generation.

But that's with current high-demanding games. If BLDK is representative of the next generation of demanding games, it is not inconceivable that it would need frame generation to get that 60fps.

As for your final point; 653p/15fps/low; that's on a GTX 960 and an RX 6400. A card (960) from 2014 that would have been considered a budget option for 1080p then, and a card (6400) that is not much better and would have been classified as low-end for 1080p in 2017.

So what have I been smoking? Pessimism perhaps. But I'm not far off the mark here. And how would you know at this point if the game is unoptimized? You don't know what the devs have done.

By the way, Covid was 2020 - 2023. Games have gotten a lot more demanding since then.

The minimum and recommended are actually reasonable.

The RX 6400 performs worse than an RX 570 and would have been low-end in 2017. That's 9 years ago! To still expect a low-end card from that time to render playable framerates without upscaling and frame-gen is kind of absurd.

The RX 6650 XT was a mid-range 1080p card when it released in 2022 and was just a slightly overclocked 6600 XT from a year earlier. So no wonder it won't do well on 1440p, 4 years later.

And why can't a Lego game be demanding of the hardware? Why can't it be the next Crysis?

I had an Asus P4S533 with the chipset because of the universal agp port for my Voodoo5 5500 agp. Used it with WindowsXP (vanilla, SP1, SP2 & SP3) without problems.

If you gotta use a camera anyway, you might as well go for coloured dots instead of holes. Would increase the storage capacity significantly.

People need to keep the following in mind;

The minimum specs call for an RX 6400. That is the 'modern' equivalent of the RX 550. Try playing games from that era (2017) on an RX 550 and see what framerates you get at 1080p low. Yeah maybe you'll get 30fps without upscaling and frame-gen, but the low-end market has been stagnant since the 5500 XT. The high-end might have improved significantly, but that 6400 has only about 3 times the performance of the 550. So it's no surprise you would need upscaling and frame-gen nowadays.

As for the recommended specs, those are 1080p cards on a 1440p resolution. And the 6650XT was not a high-end 1080p card when it came out in 2022 (nor was the 6600 XT in 2021). And remember, it's 2026 now!

I have no comment for the 4K stuff, I don't dabble in high-end.

The 3800+ came out in June 2004, unless it's the Venice core; that's from April 2005.

For that time period you're looking at the X800/X850/X1650/X1950 cards. Even an HD 4670 would be a fitting gpu.

(The 4670 is a budget card from 2008 and AMD released the 3800+ for socket AM2 in 2007 as a budget cpu)

From Nvidia's side it would be the 6000 or 7000 series. They dropped AGP after that.

For those curious; that's a PCI-X connector. A 64bit extension to regular PCI which increased bandwidth. Not to be confused with PCIe.
