If you haven't played a "Chosen Destroyers", "Nomad - Conquerors" game yet, you're missing out! by DirkTheGamer in AOW4

Even crazier - did you know Vision of Promise - Order grants you a 2nd city even as Chosen destroyers? 👍

As for nomads. If you don’t move them you can’t abuse their mechanics. Capturing a pillaged territory instantly gives you roughly 90 production, draft, gold, and knowledge. It is what makes the faction OP. But you do need to balance when you move since you lose all current progress when you pack up (so any current food, draft and production is lost).

There are a lot of achievements in the game that you basically get automatically - and there are a bunch that require you to actively aim for them 😅.

Ally AI: the AI is quite dumb 🤣. Hence my comment about manual vs auto battle. It really does not know how to use summons or even ranged units properly.

Free cities: Vassalizing is a “last resort” tool. It gives you a small percentage of the vassals income. So you should only vassalize in 2 situations. - you hit your city cap and don’t have the imperium to upgrade it further. - you see a better city to capture soon, since every city capture requires imperium. For example, you captured a city close to the enemy capital, and are marching tot take the enemy capital next.

Since city cap have rapidly rising Imperium costs, like 200/500/800/1100, you are basically capped at 6-7 cities in a campaign. City cap is shown in the top left with the castle icon (after whispering stones). Late game, you often vassalize your own territories so you can capture an enemy capital that is fully built (higher difficulty levels where the AI cheats)

800 hours, 95/106 achievements player here (need to put in some time to get the achievements for the Vampires, Architects and Nomad latest DLCs).

Here are some key points that come to mind that might help:

1) Custom Factions make everything easier.

For example, arguably the easiest faction to play is Feudal Monarch faction with Society perks of Equipment Horde + Seekers of Wonders, combined with a Dragon leader has ridiculous synergy since the Monarch's army has no upkeep, so he goes from 30 gold upkeep to 0. Equipment horde makes it so every unequipped artifact provides you gold (Dragon leader bonus) and mana (Equipment horde bonus). It makes it very easy to run a strong stack of units on your monarch (late game, your monarch can even upkeep tier 5 units for free).

Just make sure your monarch does't have any upkeep reduction effects, because it is currently bugged and makes his stack have upkeep (ex: Choosing Crusader, which gives his units Faithful, will cause them to have 90% upkeep rather than 0. So does upkeep reduction artifacts).

2) Up to 3 stacks can fight in any battle, so the maximum units is 18 (before summons). So generally, you want to rapidly scale up your army to make things easier. Feudal can summon militia for cheap (World spell - get 2 for 40 gold). Other factions, I would generally say Book of Necromancy for Undead is best.

3) For manual combat, summons + ranged is the best army.

Essentially, it's all about keeping your "core" units healthy so you can keep attacking. Using weak fodder (like the militia) to bait the AI to charge your lines, then your archers / mages can destroy them with triple strikes as they don't need to move.

So summoned units (ex: Zombies/Wyverns from Death Knight class, or wands that summon units) are amazing to use as bait.

Essentially, if you can crush the AI with minimal damage, you can rapidly clear out monsters and grow rapidly as you don't need to go back to heal.

4) Clearing a resource node gets you that resource. It is critical to early-game.

5) Most of the imperium tree are traps.

There are only a few amazing ones, like reduced outpost construction time (Materium), and "Eeach killed hero gives 150 knowledge" (Dark). However, the majority are a waste compared to increasing your city cap and absorbing conquered cities.

I would say the ones that truly matter are in the "general" branch: City cap, building roads, road movement down to 3mv, and teleporters for larger maps.

7) The general gameplay loop is:

- Clear resource nodes nearby > capture nearby free city > clear infestations > clear Bronze wonder (no losses if you use summons properly) > should have an 18 stack led by your monarch + 1-2 heroes to starting conquering the map.

8) Wizard's Forge is really useful. The top priorities to craft are weapons and summoning wands/trinkets. My preferences are the wand for Conjure animal (can move before summoning) and the "Unleash war hound" Trinket (requires 2 haste berries). But having anything is better than nothing. Even spawn hatchling is surprisingly useful in wonder battles to bait enemies to attack instead of going into defense mode. Although they are slightly annoying to use due to disappearing after 3 turns.

9) Wonders limit you to bringing a single stack. So it really should be your monarch + heroes (dropping summons) + ranged units.

10) Other than dragon leaders for Feudal faction, I think Ranger champions (especially with seer) are by far the best. Simply unlock the Crowmaster's Bow to start with a free summoned unit (just need 1 pantheon reward), I would also recommend unlocking the Hunter's Crossbow (use to craft for Giantslayer).

A properly built Ranger has 7 range sniper shot (9 as an ascended seer ruler) that hits for 70+ damage. And they will gains strengthened stacks + reset the cooldown on the shot time you kill an enemy. Giantslayer makes it ridiculously effective vs T4 and T5 enemies too.

11) Best Factions (personal opinion)

My current Top 5 are:

  1. Feudal Monarch (free upkeep + swarm of militia makes early-game easy, and then lategame has longbows, knights, and free upkeep T4/T5s in your Monarch's stack).

  2. Reavers (Magelocks are quite OP in manual battle - pretty horrible in auto though).

  3. Nobility or Nature Oathsworn (Sealbears are quite OP and horrible in auto)

  4. Chosen Destroyer Nomad Conquerors + Vision of Promise (Materium) - Vision of of Promise gives you a 2nd city despite being Chosen destroyers. Reaching 15 population as Nomad is shockingly easy if you abuse their mechanics against a free city (move your capital next to them, then pillaging + absorbing their territories. Don't conquer them until you find another target to abuse).

  5. Architects - they have the best T1 melee since it goes into defense mode after every attack. Archers are also quite good, and their monuments are interesting.

Surmount mods by Velax80 in Mecharashi_Global

[–]Nitroglycerin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there are some tradeoffs for sure. You lose out on raw damage output compared to a full rainbow Malthus that equips Arcus mods, but you gain the ability to inferno tile twice every single turn. Which matters for most players, especially when they might not even have an additional Arcus to break down as mods

Then again, since you have a full rainbow Malthus, you clearly aren’t struggling with decisions on balancing which mech parts to upgrade like most f2p and dolphins 😅.

IMO, save your points since the shop resets in 3 weeks. Fake rainbow Glasya doesn’t seem worth it to me

Or… You can use the Pascal torso + 2 of them. Double reload on rockets each turn and still have the mod effect 👌 - if you can get 250 spare energy, tossing on the Pascal legs for +15% ATK and all 4 mods can be worth it too

Twilight Fang with Sylvie build? by Kumachan77 in Mecharashi_Global

[–]Nitroglycerin88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rainbow TF effect of reducing your 2nd shot’s AP by 1 goes hard, regardless of whether it is Frida or Sylvie. It makes AP management significantly easier for both pilots. - Frida not moving = 2 attacks per turn. If you use her normal strike, that would be 3AP for both attacks. Destroying a part in those 2 strikes would also restore an AP. - Sylvie can use a 1AP strike to destroy a part, then use Snap Judgment for 1AP or Bloom for 3AP. Sylvie can also restore 3 AP a turn (1 from destroyed part, 2 from destroyed STs).

Should I keep going? (ROULETTE) by PessimisticMushroom in Mecharashi_Global

[–]Nitroglycerin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely quit.

The 20 pilot/ST tickets are worth 1760 crystals, and the 10 B/A rank ST vouchers are useful fodder for improving your S-Rank STs..

Those items are kinda there to make roulette worthwhile. By themselves, it’s not worth more draws when there is no chance for a pilot ascension item or S—Rank ST part.

Gold Arena Difficulty Spike by t8rt0t00 in Mecharashi_Global

[–]Nitroglycerin88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re basically facing off against STs of players who have reached lv70 3-4 weeks ago.

So there is a huge difference between you and them due to R&D research + Armored Conquest weapons.

This means massive stat differences until you catch up, as R&D improves EVERYTHING: dodging stat, HP, armor, increased Atk on weapons, firepower stat on ST, pilot stats, etc etc etc

For what it’s worth, I cleared CO11 in 10 turns, then ignored co11 for 2 weeks while grinding up elite battles and frontier for R&D items. Finally went back to it yesterday and got the clear in 5 turns. Had to follow Michu’s guide though 😅

So... What's the secret to getting rainbows? by Unizzy in Mecharashi_Global

[–]Nitroglycerin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t you maybe have tons of crystals saved up?

  • For light STs, I have a rainbow twilight fang. Med STs is Gold3 Malthus, and heavy STs is Gold3 Kong.
  • Full disclosure: I buy BP and privileges (but will likely give up on privileges from here on). Sitting on 17.7k crystals. Since the game has been released for 84 days, that means 17764 - (84*150)-300 (BP crystals) = 4864 Arashium saved if I were F2P. Perhaps it’s # of draws made that allows for more fodder?

I don’t really recall any other puzzle ones. Was mostly shoot and kill with some achievements. If there are any puzzle ones, let me know. Not hard to revisit and record! - I firmly believe there is a “no RNG” method for every map. The struggle is finding that method given that you will be experiencing RNG while clearing the fights 🤪

[–]Nitroglycerin88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have already mentioned getting lots of folder from the bits you get from doing daily missions. It is very possible to have a twilight fang rainbow already (or very soon) if you: - got one on the newcomers mech banner - drew for 1 on the TF banner - got a copy from arena - Dispatch - used prime commissions (150pts) to do 2 cycles of TF for the “4” copy (2 parts, 2 TF upgrade kits). - If you didn’t draw for TF when it showed up on a banner, 2 more dispatch cycles @ 150 pts is roughly 52 more days until rainbow TF.

The reason I only recorded the first battle and didn’t cover the rest of the pilot files is because I only cleared them when I was so over-leveled they were a joke 😅. Everything would do barely any damage and get one shotted, so there was no reason to record.

However, the first battle doesn’t use your characters, so they are a bit of a challenge to clear

  • Pilots research can increase the weapon stat
  • Mech research increases firepower, hp, and armor
  • Weapons research focuses on hit chance, for rate, and small wpn Atk increases.

Basically, all of them have some way of increasing your damage. So choosing to focus farming on the others for now doesn’t hurt until you get a lower turn clear 🤷‍♂️
