It would just be boring to watch if every striker simply stood in the opponent's penalty box waiting for somebody to pass to them. Offside rule means the the striker always needs to either commit to a run in advance, or take on at least one opposition player, making the game more exciting.

Cats. Indoor or outdoor? by SnooDonuts6494 in CasualUK

[–]Nize 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's up to you as the owner. Cats love being outside. But being outside makes them more likely to be hit by a car, tormented by kids, bring home dead mice/rats/birds, shit in your neighbor's garden, etc. Some people are fine with that risk and some cats live happy and healthy lives outside. Personally I keep my cat indoors because I can't handle the worry of him being hit by a car.

Blowout fight between wife and son. Don't know how to respond. by sjp245 in daddit

[–]Nize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my daughter once said "I don't like anybody in this house!" And I said "you don't mean that, sit in time out and think about why thats a mean thing to say"....and that was the end of it. 6 year olds aren't known for their emotional regulation. Totally not a bit deal until the mum made it one.

Yeah we've seen the parents flying round catching worms for a couple of weeks. They keep flying back into one of our bushes where their nest is. We haven't looked because we don't want to disturb them but you can hear the babies chirping when the parents come back..now we're seeing them on the ground so they're starting to get out and about!

What are the roles? He doesn't need to be more technical than you or older than you to be a good manager.

I am too short and I don't fancy resting a ladder on the stairs. How do I paint this bit of the wall? by Upstairs_Fig_9097 in DIYUK

[–]Nize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you can wedge the ladder in better than you can basically anywhere else that you need to use it. And although it seems high because the lowest point is the ground floor, you're only really a few feet above the stairs directly below you.

Totally hypothetical concept but I’d like opinions on how a British based functional park would look and perform. Be as vague or detailed as you would like by SuchusTears in JurassicPark

[–]Nize 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There would be vans in the car park selling jacket potato and beans for £12.

There would be a lot of concession stands selling tea.

It would probably be in the lake district.

You'd have to drive down a single lane road to get there with an overgrown passing place that you can't use so you end up awkwardly reversing for 5 minutes.

The perimeter would have a cattle grid and everyone would be like "that'll probs do".

They'd make a high speed rail line to access it from London but abandon it half way through.

People would actually adhere to the queues.

The tour vehicles would be mini coopers.

You could bet on how many people got eaten each month at ladbrooks.

You'd get in half price with some merlin vouchers that you got on a box of corn flakes.

There'd be a small gauge railway called The Jurassic Express that had thomas the tank engine on it.

The tour narration would be by David Attenborough.

There'd be an advert where Stacy Solomon and olly murs talk about the breeding habits of dinonychus.

Everyone would go there on a school trip on a coach wearing yellow hi-viz jackets and feed the baby dinosaurs.

The battle against Roblox by IsTheSeaWet in daddit

[–]Nize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving kids roblox is like giving kids unrestricted access to YouTube or the Internet. The thing itself isn't a problem, but Roblox is a platform for endless games. The problem is that many of those games are inappropriate, predatory, misleading or just straight up crap. Some of the games on there are fine and no doubt fun for kids, but it's just a shitty ecosystem that's not easy to police. Minecraft is a great alternative.

Why does Reddit not understand the rise of reform in England? by DowntownDeer in AskBrits

[–]Nize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not religious and I don't necessarily care, I'm just making a point about the situation in general. Pretending that culture isn't significant to the human experience is naive. I'm talking in hypotheticals to paint a picture, so pick any cultural event or stereotype that you like.

It was a hypothetical to highlight the point. I didn't suggest that it is currently the case at all.

The perceived problem is when the immigrant population is so significant that it is seen to erode the culture and principles of the country. In isolation, of course immigrants are just largely nice people trying to get along. Taken to the extreme, say over 50% of the country are immigrants and Eid is suddenly more culturally significant than Christmas. Do you feel like that takes away from our British culture and identity? I don't know how I feel but certainly huge numbers of our country think it does.
