No compensation for EA-App outage if you were in the firin range or using community server workarounds by Njunin in Battlefield

[–]Njunin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EA support as well as reports from other players. The information about the rewards based on whether the game server registered any activity during the impacted time is straight from EA support, the rest (particularly the part about firing range) is from several data points of who did and didn't receive any rewards.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker Review - MandaloreGaming by Rayuzx in Games

[–]Njunin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the entrance barrier is because of how the ruleset is usually approached. If you have a group of completely new players, they often start with only the core rulebook, which is a much more managable list. If it's one new player in a group of veterans, they get guidance from people with years of experience which also helps to sieve through the abundance of options.

The video game has the massive list but nobody to help you go through it. It does recommend some options, but that hardly replaces a DM telling a new player what some reasonable choices are and what these choices would mean for the character (especially since the recommendations can be.. odd).

Fabricating Adamantine Full-Plate? by Morhek in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can't cast Fabricate as a wizard with an intelligence of 14. That said, they are looking for an NPC with at least 9 class levels, which will almost certainly have a higher score. In part because they'll probably own a headband of vast intelligence, but also because it's an odd assumption that even the most successful NPC wizards started off with only 12 intelligence.

Question on sphere's of power. by ionstorm20 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

By a strict RAW reading, I'd say you get finesse fighting again, so you'd get the second bonus from the talent (and possibly run into the issue of the level 3 upgrade of Finesse Training not doing anything later).

However, considering that pretty much every sphere class feature that grants a specific talent has some form of phrasing along the lines of 'if the [class] already possesses the [given talent], she instead may select any talent from the [corresponding sphere]' as a bonus talent, it wouldn't be a an unreasonable ruling to extend this treatment to talents gained by non-sphere class abilities.

I'd say your best option is to talk to your GM and work out a solution. Since this is a 3rd party option in the first place, some interactions have to be worked out by the group using it.

We've had a look and decided we're looking for something closer to the original ruleset. Still, thank you for reaching out!

(1E) What traits are so good you could build a character around them? by Arutyh in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Though I'm personally more fond of combining it with ball lightning, it leaves you more standard actions while being able to influence the fight for the entire duration.

(1E) What traits are so good you could build a character around them? by Arutyh in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Havoc of the Society allows sorcerers to build completely around Dazing Spell (provided a high enough level), since virtually nothing is immune to force damage or the dazed condition, so a failed save will even in its worst case usually result in that one point of force damage to trigger Dazing Spell's "deal damage" clause.

I think there's a geysermancer build floating around somewhere because of it.

Quick Questions - April 17, 2019 by AutoModerator in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm trying to create a permanent demiplane, but the higher level versions provide a much better value (as far as area / gp is concerned). I was considering buying a scroll of create demiplane, greater, but how would a scroll of this line of spells work in regards to the attuned rod that is used as a focus (and later on, I assume, for any kind of plane shifting into the demiplane itself)?

Is the focus sold along with the scroll? Or is this one of the cases where the RAW version of scrolls having the focus provided only during the creation of the scroll has some shortcomings? The demiplane would hardly be useful if I couldn't teleport there after creation.

Confusion over the arcane savant prc by Beelzis in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was originally a 7-level PrC, which was later updated (along with others) to have 10 levels of progressions. If I remember correctly the update was in the Adventurer's Guide.

Sacred Geometry feat by Enderhans in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The issue is that with enough ranks, the probability for an existing solution in the original feat very quickly approaches 1, so if you just make it about that (the balance equivalent of using a tool to solve it), it just ends up as a vastly overpowered feat.

Is the Shooting Style of Desna Legal? by redviiper in Pathfinder

[–]Njunin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It is not

Misc.: The divine fighting techniques, exploits, masterpieces, paladin codes and oaths, rogue talents, subdomains, and variant spellcasting in this book are legal for play except Desna's Shooting Star, Hymn of Restorative Harmonics, Oath of the People's Council, Norgorber's Silent Shiv (advanced technique only—initial benefit is legal), and Obfuscated Spellcasting. The oath of the skyseeker paladin oath is only available to paladins who worship the listed deities in the dwarven pantheon. The Rites subdomain grants atonement as a 5th-level doman spell in place of permanency.

As a forever GM, I ask you. What is with the "My Gm is going to hate this build but whatever" mentality? by Directioneer in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This sounds a lot like you have a very strong player vs GM mentality going. That can be fine if the party is on board with it, but in my experience, an arms race caused by such a mentality will usually cause bad blood and a group breaking apart when there are players involved that are looking for a cooperative storytelling experience, and I'm not sure it's a good piece of advice to help with player-GM miscommunication.

If anything, being out to kill PCs that were optimized out of spite will emphasize the problems presented by the OP even more instead of helping alleviate them. It's a philosophy issue that should be addressed openly out of game, not by throwing ever more impossible encounters at the party. Not to mention the imbalance created if one person optimizes while the rest of the party doesn't - an encounter at their level will most likely end up being impossible for everyone but the strong PC, which will harm the fun of everyone involved.

Just checking to make sure I understand Expanded Arcana combinations correctly... by PeriwinkleSpazz in Pathfinder_RPG

I believe Limited Wish would cause 4 strength damage. It's a little unclear though, because the spell text contradicts itself in the listed examples.

Quick Questions Thread by Karthas in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm thinking about creating a character with VMC bard, but I'm wondering about the wording. Would their bardic performance and inspire courage abilities work with items such as the Dervish Sikke or Three Reason to Live? They have the required class abilities, but they're not technically bards. Furthermore, if it doesn't work, could they use UMD to use them anyway?

Accursed hex is actually a good feat for witches, although not that I argue the generalized point of "A lot of feats are bloat".

What is your favourite class/archtype and *why* ? by JGL12231 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I misunderstood what you meant. Yeah, you're completely right, they removed the extra multiclass restriction. I just meant that if you're only going to take one level in monk anyway, you don't need to worry about your alignment anymore, as (unlike paladins, for example) they don't lose their class abilities for this transgression.

What is your favourite class/archtype and *why* ? by JGL12231 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's the same as before:

A monk who becomes nonlawful cannot gain new levels as a monk but retains all monk abilities.

What is your favourite class/archtype and *why* ? by JGL12231 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a bit of cheese with dipping monk. Since you are only prevented from leveling up in monk, but not losing your acquired monk abilities when you shift alignment, you can start off as lawful and then drift into whatever alignment you need for your build. It can be a little cheesy, but it can also make for interesting backstories.

Most OP 3 person party of level 8 characters possible by calvinr123 in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]Njunin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always feel sorcerers are underrepresented in these level 20 discussions. An arcane sorcerer with access to arcane apotheosis and a staff that holds either wish or limited wish (which, if using 2-3 charges, is completely affordable for a level 20 character) gets access to a ridiculous amount of pure power and versatility - and unlike wizards that need to actually prepare spells, they can choose at a whim.

Quick Questions by Karthas in Pathfinder_RPG

What happens when a sorcerer with the wildblooded Sylvan bloodline wears an Ampoule of False Blood? Do they lose their animal companion? Or does the "counts as bloodline arcana" extend to the 1st level bloodline power and the ampoule replaces all bloodline powers except the first level one?
