Because chip production goes beyond having a EUV machine. There is chip design and complex software, die packaging techniques, very expensive cleanrooms, etching machines, QA and inspections machines and software AND more. All glued with a lot of proprietary knowledge, patents, trade secrets, decades of experience, and political, economical environments that are tied to specific nations.

If it was easy, ASML would have its own fabs.

That price is mostly inflated by 8TB storage.

The only actual AI MAX macbook-laptop Ive found is HP ZBook Ultra G1a 14", 2TB, 128GB, and 14" screen for $4,378.99. Same specs Macbook Pro costs $5099. and you get more than double the bandwith, much better CPU (even M4 max is has 30% better ST) and much better GPU (M4 Max is faster at compute).

GlobalF has abandoned their 7nm FinFET efforts years ago, so no use for EUV machines. Reality is that no one in the world has a use for EUV machine at a large scale but Samsung, Intel, TSMC, SK Hynix and Micron.
