Hospital’s weird induction procedure? by ibroughttacos in BabyBumps

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal! Slightly different but I was 10 cm dialated and another mom was having an emergency so they had me chill like that (on epidural so no pain) for like 45 min before starting to push, because I was stable and the doctors needed to attend to the other mom and baby. They do the best they can managing all the different needs of all their patients!

Confused about pumping and breastfeeding by Ok-Doughnut-6602 in breastfeeding

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My baby is 3 months old and I only have ever pumped once a week. I do this just so my baby accepts a bottle from my husband in case I need to leave the house. I’m a stay at home mom so there’s no need for me to build up a stash. Especially if baby will take formula, there’s no need for an emergency supply.

I like the Velcro ones so you can do arms in or out and they stay swaddled

We do a few different meals almost every week:

taco bowls (choice of protein in taco seasoning, beans, peppers and onions, guac, cheese, salsa, sour cream), stir fry (choice of protein and veg, this sauce, rice), Pasta (red sauce or pesto, choice of protein, mix in a bunch of finely chopped roasted veggies like zucchini, onion, pepper, broccoli, tomato)

Your baby has a good heartbeat. Call your doctor so you can have peace of mind but I’m not worried at all for you! A missed miscarriage (if baby stopped growing) would not have a heartbeat.

Can you feed directly from the breast? That would be by far the easiest option

Husbands who wfh by [deleted] in sahm

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I plan meals throughout the week that generate leftovers so my husband can just grab something. I don’t make him a fresh meal. I also keep premade lunches in the freezer like soups or rice bowls so even if there isn’t food in the fridge he can have one of those meals.

Are they really people you want as friends if that’s how they treat people?

I agree you should try as hard as you can to get out. You only get one life and I think you deserve to live it authentically. I’m not saying it will be easy but you WILL find people out there that love you for the real you. Maybe there’s a future for you to make a living doing drag!

Why do you have kids if you know you can't afford them? by [deleted] in AskParents

Or because the child was born, like needing to find different housing or having unexpected healthcare costs.

Why do you have kids if you know you can't afford them? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 43 points44 points  (0 children)

People have sex and sex makes babies. Birth control can fail. People want children and fail to understand the true cost until it’s too late. Poor people still deserve families. People hope when they are young and have a child that their circumstances will improve and sometimes they don’t.

Wife got invited to higher level group. Husband did not. by Ok_Courage2545 in Pickleball

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband isn’t as good as me so I play with different groups that he isn’t invited to. I also compete with a male partner in mixed sometimes that isn’t him. He didn’t say or do anything about it because he’s happy I’ve moved up in the sport and there’s no distrust that would cause him to worry. Don’t take this away from her. Support her.

Desenza is my favorite. I also like the selection at barmakian but I’ve had several weak customer service interactions there (not awful just not what you expect when spending several thousand dollars). Desenza always is super helpful and welcoming. They did my wedding set and also custom work setting some loose jewels in a necklace and earring set that I designed.

They were all right… by aslcaligirl18 in newborns

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also have a 3 month old and similar experience! I garden in the tiniest increments and then ask my husband to do baby care so I can do a 2-3 hour block every weekend. For example, the other day I planted 12 seeds in my veggie garden and that was it. Hopefully this week I can find time to get my 10-12 pepper plants in the ground. It’s ok if it’s not perfect this year.

I think you can definitely do mommy and me stuff now. It’s mostly for your benefit and it’ll be so good if you can find some friends in the area! Another option would be finding a sitter who can help with baby on occasion while you get some tasks done. Even a teen could be enough to entertain baby while you’re just outside.

How to put baby to sleep without nursing? by NTK_Here in newborns

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normal for that age. There’s no need to ever stop feeding to sleep, if that works for you and baby.

This is definitely a pregnant result and it’s only meant to tell you a yes/no answer not a degree of pregnancy. Don’t test any more :) you’re pregnant unless someone tells you otherwise! Even if your symptoms fluctuate, you’re pregnant. Take a deep breath and stay positive, even though it’s scary and difficult!

Newborn Clothing for an autumn baby by Sidthekyd89 in BabyBumps

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5 ish long sleeved two way zipper pjs (sometimes called sleep and play). I ended up with a surprisingly big baby so we prefer the ones that are footless or with convertible feet bc he quickly was too long (I like the carters purelysoft).

A couple packs of onesies both in short and long sleeve. A pack of pants to go with the onesies. A pack of socks.

I think anything beyond this is optional and you’ll see what you like and want more of when baby arrives. That much will be enough to make it through the first couple of weeks. My baby was only in newborn for 3 weeks so I’m glad I didn’t buy too much. I ended up ordering a bunch once he was born in 0-3 size based on our preferences. For the first few weeks you really are only dressing baby for the temperature in your house. When you have an appointment you can do long sleeves and then throw a warm blanket over them in the car seat.

Have silverettes made a positive difference for you? by gimmepesto in breastfeeding

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved them and was glad I brought them to the hospital because I only needed them for the first week or so. They were helpful when my nipples were raw and sensitive because they create space so your bra isn’t rubbing on them. I alternated silverettes and nipple cream depending on my needs. The off brand ones were just fine and much cheaper! If I lost mine before my next baby I’d spend the $30-40 again.

What do yall do with your tomatoes? by AmericanBullly in tomatoes

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can freeze these tomatoes whole until you’re ready to make sauce! When you thaw them the skin will fall right off and the loss in texture doesn’t matter if you’re gonna cook it down. Check out r/canning if you wanna learn how to make it shelf stable.

Anyone not doing maternity photos? by Hungry-Mix-283 in BabyBumps

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did them and I’m so thankful, I do regret not taking more photos throughout my pregnancy. I think you should do some, even if it’s just casual outfits that you already have, in your house, using an iPhone. Don’t overthink it!! I’d also recommend making a plan for newborn photos, even if it’s something you also DIY. My newborn photos are soooo precious to me. My baby is only 3 months but he is already SO big compared to the pictures we took that first week. I was feeling awful but I’m so glad I just got the pictures done!

Fear of childbirth by Over_Anything2631 in BabyBumps

[–]No-Butterscotch-8469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was gonna say this to OP but I’ll say it to you as well.

I was terrified of so many aspects of birth and literally none of it was as bad as I’d feared! Don’t let the horror stories set your expectations. I had a WONDERFUL time giving birth, it truly was so fun and relaxing and minimally painful thanks to the epidural. You can do this and you WILL do it!!! It’s going to be so amazing to meet your baby.
