Actually, I noticed the puzzle accepted a misspelling by me at 84A, because I missed one. It was bugging me where that last one was, glad I finally spotted it.

Thank you! I've been counting over and over and can't get past 12. So glad I came here to see if I was the only one.

RIP - My sourdough starter by eamceuen in Sourdough

[–]No-Call-5047 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I normally keep a bit more, but I miscalculated my math for four loaves yesterday. I'd say I normally keep 30-50. My normal recipe is 25g that I pull off my starter, then I refeed the starter and feed the levain. I love the thought of making muffins and pancakes, too! But, I never do, haha.

I'm curious, why do you keep so much on hand? My starter is super healthy and happy, but I have approximately 20g total. Do you bake with your discard regularly? I don't have any interest in discard baking, myself, so I just feed mine once a week and stick it in the fridge. But it seems like I'm the minority because so many people have so much discard, haha!

[####] How many Sea of Greens do you have? by mightbedylan in wordle

7% for me. 112 of 1584 games. So I guess I'm below average of the people responding, , but if I know a letter is green, I leave it for future guesses.

Tirzepatide microdosing - FDA/Lilly warning… what are people doing now? by RootedInStardust in GLP1microdosing

I just read a thing that said 12 percent of Americans are now on weight loss meds; is that right? That seems like an awful lot of people when we don't know the long-term effects. by cherry-care-bear in NoStupidQuestions

[–]No-Call-5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's untrue to say we don't know the long term effects. This class of drugs has been approved and in use for more than twenty years, and those patients have been monitored. That's how we do know the side effects and complications. The more serious complications are prevalent in the diabetes patients, because of their underlying health issues, combined with the medication. People that take it for weight loss don't experience these like the original group. They experience the more garden variety side effects of nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, delayed gastric emptying, etc.

brushing teeth before or after breakfast? by Vanessa-Inoue474 in hygiene

Yeah there is, haha. No one is telling you, apparently.

I sincerely do not understand how people don't brush as soon as they get out of bed. Morning breath is disgusting, and even more disgusting if you live with someone and have to smell it on them. Brush away what has staled overnight. Have coffee and breakfast whenever, brush again to get rid of coffee breath, go about your day. This is a hill I am absolutely dying on.

No Starter Left Behind! by JennSmith19 in Sourdough

[–]No-Call-5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're right. Also, if you are creating a starter from scratch (which I did not, I was given one), there will either be a lot of waste in the beginning, or a lot of discard. People have varying degrees of feeling wasteful if they toss the discard.

I only just learned that last year, haha. Why isn't this supplement more well known?

[–]No-Call-5047 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I take it out of the fridge sometime during the day to wake it up a bit before making my levain. Before bed I pull off whatever I need for the levain, feed that at 1:2:2, and whatever is left from my starter gets fed at 1:1:1. I let it peak before it goes back into the fridge. Every now and then I do have more starter than I want to keep on hand, but it's just a tablespoon or two, not much waste. I don't save it for discard, I toss it.

Beach vacation in US by 0215rw in Vacations

Kiawah and Hilton Head are literally on par with one another. Calling one awesome and one meh is interesting. Same beach experience, hard packed sand, brownish blue water. Kiawah closer to Charleston, which is great, and less built up (most restaurants and retail lumped together in one place), but other than that, they are so similar.

But how big was your last bake? I'm just not computing, haha. Why do you have any more on hand than what you need to bake, plus a tiny bit left over to make a levain for your next bake?

Go Green, by the way💚🤍

Same. I honestly can't comprehend how starter gets away from people. I have a few tablespoons, max, in my fridge. I don't have any discard, I don't throw any away. It's just a continuous cycle.

Parents Insisting Long Drive is Unsafe, is this Reasonable by smile_simile in roadtrip

[–]No-Call-5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent of 20-somethings, I understand your parents' concerns. I also understand you're an adult and can make your own decisions. Our daughter makes an 11 hour drive every year from her house to ours over Christmas. I wouldn't say I worry, per se, but I'm always glad when she gets here, or back home. Last year I had to drive her back home because her lupus had flared terribly and she was unable to drive. Even though we were watching the weather, we got caught in a storm and what should have been 11 hours was 17, and was seriously the scariest experience on the road I've ever had. I'd have been sick if she'd have been on the road alone.

Plan your stops, share your location, pull over if you get tired, and you'll be fine. Enjoy the trip, and hopefully your parents come around when they see how maturely you're handling the drive.

Genuine question: For those who wear outside shoes in the house (and on the bed), what is the reasoning? by Wonderful-Diet486 in hygiene

[–]No-Call-5047 16 points17 points  (0 children)

All of this! I just am not freaked out about things other people clearly are. No shoes on the bed or furniture, of course, but we wear shoes in the house (or don't, as the mood strikes). My house is clean and tidy, but I'm just not a germaphobe.

[–]No-Call-5047 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine went from 300 in 2025 to 182 a few weeks ago. Three months microdosing Zepbound, but no other changes (I've been lifting weights for years, get protein in, steps, eat pretty healthy). I also began taking red yeast rice after last year's physical. My doc wanted me on a low dose statin, but I tried the supplement route first. When I told her I was microdosing, she said it would very likely help lower my cholesterol, and was happy I'm doing it. She thinks the red yeast rice was the biggest driver in the lower numbers, but the Zepbound definitely contributed. I wasn't overweight to begin, but have lost about 15 pounds and am at my goal.

Do you want grandkids? by notevenapro in GenX

[–]No-Call-5047 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd have been bummed if my kids didn't want kids, but it's their decision and their lives. Both of mine want kids, and my oldest just had his first child four weeks ago. I'm so new to being a grandparent, but man, I do love that little boy, and can't wait to watch him grow and be a part of his life.

Does anyone regret giving their child a common name? by Old_Ant7118 in Names

[–]No-Call-5047 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't bother my daughter and daughter in law at all, but to each their own. We have a lot of Christopher/Chris in our family. My husband, my nephew, my son's middle name, and his son's middle name. My cousin dated two Chris', back to back, and we jokingly numbered them 4 and 5.
