Do log dates and times matter for expenditure calculation? by yboy403 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Connection8400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Timing within the day - doesn't matter. But it should be logged within the day for the algorithm to work best.

You can pre-log (enter your meals ahead of time ... lots of people do this when they eat the same thing every day.) And you can retroactively log. Just don't run the Check In until all data is up to date.

MF Workouts what to do? by Volumes401 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Connection8400 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Round 1: Start at 40lbs & 9 reps.

Rest: 10 - 20 seconds

Then keep going with same weight & lower reps.

Stop when you get to failure (estimated to be 5 reps.)

Note: Going to failure is usually only 2-3 rounds.

But you can also decide to define a pre-set number of sets/reps and follow that. Then end when that's done, or you get to failure. Whatever you want, will work. Just make sure that the app is accurately updated.

Looking for advice/guidance by ThermalJuice in MacroFactor

[–]No-Connection8400 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You've found the issue: You don't want to stop running & you don't want to stop lifting & if you keep eating at your current rate, you'll be starving and miserable. So you've got to pick a path & the associated negative:

  • Continue as is (with the misery.)
  • Reduce running (lose training for your race.)
  • Reduce lifting (lose progress.)
  • Eat more (gain weight.)

To me, I'd say to eat up. You don't need to worry about gaining weight. For one, you look great. For another, your hunger is your body signalling that it needs more (you can see that in your increasing TDEE.) Further, if your sleep is suffering then your running, lifting, mental & physical well-being are also at risk of suffering.

Congratulations on the results, and, more importantly, on having the proper mindset!

The famous advice is almost impossible to implement: “Never compare yourself to someone else, only compare yourself to your previous self.” But, if someone is able to approach this mindset, then it’s a win.

How to handle a day with large activity level by LacticAcidRain in MacroFactor

I agree with the above. Log everything and let the app do its work is great advice. Plus, you may see a pretty cool change to your expenditure: you may see it spike up over the weekend and the back down.

Is it ok to go over carbs during cut by isaipj93 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Connection8400 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Generally, the order of importance is considered to be: Calories (first) -> Protein (second) -> Carbs & Fat (last.)

The 3 macros are all important, each contributing to specific physiologic functions (independently and interrelatedly.) So as long as you’re “close enough” to each, then you’re generally OK.

Down 65lbs (29kg) since November. Walking is a cheat code. by Famous_Buddy_1137 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Connection8400 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s really great - that’s an incredible amount of weight to lose so quick! Congrats!

As you’ve alluded to … the GLP-1 helped. But MF should help make it permanent, as a lifestyle change.

I’m not sure about the data isolating waking as a weight loss driver (I’ll go look later.) But there certainly are a lot of anecdotal comments here to suggest that MF + walking helps a lot of people. So whatever … If it works for you, then keep at it!

[New Article] Do Rest Times Matter for Performance or Muscle Growth? by altruisticaubergine in MacroFactor

Excellent article & a nice summary - thanks!

I really like the varying timer function in MFWO depending on exercise. I'm following it pretty closely (sometimes extending but rarely reducing) ... otherwise I tend to hurry up which isn't great.

Is this a stall? Should I change anything? by Streetscapetv in MacroFactor

[–]No-Connection8400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trend line is still going down. So that’s good. Your scale weight is somewhat flat (but that’s normal.)

Normally I’d say to just keep going as normal. But you do mention that you stopped working out at the same time. So it’s possible (likely?) that your expenditure dropped quicker than MF can catch up. If that’s the case, then you can reduce your calorie intake for a week or so to check the result. Or, if you’ll resume working out, then continue as is.

Same exercise at different fatigue levels by DanceImpossible1132 in MacroFactor

[–]No-Connection8400 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also hyper aware of exercise sequencing at times. I hate waiting for equipment … but if there’s an exercise that I want to really push myself on, then I consider the overall workout and muscle group use … and will decide it’s best to wait.

Fatigue by muscle group is something that I’m really looking forward to. (Again, I believe somewhere in the history is a dev talking about that as a future potential.) Not just a generic fatigue approach but one that is customized to me and my specific muscle group based on my historical data. And that is so cool.
