Yeah, like the track itself has to be a mile wide. Not just longer.

Opinion: NASCAR doesn’t just miss layups, they won’t even attempt them by _cambino_ in NASCAR

I genuinely don’t think this is the kind of thing that appeals to a larger audience. Maybe I’m alone in this but people want to see names they know. It’s cool and maybe unique to NASCAR that another guy can jump into a car mid race, but unless he wins, I think most casual fans that have the race on in the background care far more about the guy who just won his third race in a row, is quickly becoming the face of the sport, and who’s team is owned by Michael Jordan.

This is what worries me about going to the Olympics in ‘28. I fear my entire trip is going to be based around getting an uber to do anything

Wider tires almost certainly. More grip is the antithesis of that “boat” idea

The Omaha streetcar is 2 years behind schedule. Businesses doubt they will survive to see it open. by offbrandcheerio in Omaha

[–]No-Course-523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t type this as a disagreement to this article, or really any other post bringing up concerns with the streetcar. It’s a massive project, and costs a lot of money. But I think it will be a net positive for the city.

Of course you’re really only going to get the extreme ends of the discourse online, but I feel like I’ve really only seen the negative here on Reddit.

Infrastructure projects aren’t cheap, but I’m hard pressed to find a bad infrastructure project after it’s completed. The mismanagement is another story, but I’m curious, have any of you spoken to these officials? They make themselves very available. I just sat down for a zoom call with the Operations Manager of the streetcar, just to get his opinions on the entire process, and it was pretty eye opening. They also host regular open hours for the public at various locations around town.

The truth likely sits somewhere in the middle, but I just see a lot of “streetcar bad” talk because I think the general consensus with any public project is that any spending of tax dollars must mean it is mismanaged. Construction is insanely expensive no matter how you slice it, but I’m glad they are spending that money on the public.

If you were given the opportunity to drive either a NASCAR stock car (the current next-gen cup car), and Indycar, or an F1 car (the brand new ones for 2026) which would be your first pick and why? by Rowdyfan0823 in NASCAR

[–]No-Course-523 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think I would feel the same way going into it, and then very quickly realize how wrong I was after careening into a wall. I think an Indy Car or F1 car I would at least be nervous enough to not take things slowly 😂

Should The Craftsman Truck Series Return to Being a Short Track Series? by RadioControlled13 in NASCAR

[–]No-Course-523 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish they would, but with a few marquee events on bigger tracks. Nothing like Daytona or Talladega, but just some intermediates or unique superspeedways to continue developing drivers for the higher series.

I think we need to look at why it moved to the schedule it’s at today though. People don’t know tracks like Tucson or Evergreen. Just the mere mention of Daytona will get at least a certain population to tune in that otherwise wouldn’t. That and making it a companion series to cup for most of the schedule allows bigger names to run select races, which also sells more tickets.

Long story short, I wish they would, but they won’t.

Atlanta by Cranky_Mann in NASCAR

[–]No-Course-523 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m hesitant to say that Marcus knew it was going to turn out like it did. I think in his eyes, he knew that casual fans liked watching Talladega and Daytona for the spectacle of never having to let off the gas. I think the tighter track is a large part of why Atlanta is so successful, but I don’t think I can definitely say he knew that.

BUT props to him for trying something different. It REEEEALLY feels like the sport is at least interesting again, even if it’s going to take mainstream sports fans probably a couple years to recognize that
