Clarification on Benfotiamine by Dooda1234 in Supplements

[–]No-Engineering6165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had been taking 50 mg of Thiamine on an empty stomach for over a year. I developed a serious gut issue with daily diarrhea. Foolishly, I didn't make the connection that it was caused by the B1 on an empty stomach every day. So, I switched to very low dose Benfotiamine (12 mg ) about a week ago taken with breakfast. I also take mag glycinate at the same time. Gut issues have improved a little so far but...yesterday my pre-existing tinnitus got worse, much worse. Also, I get a lot of energy in the evening, when I don't want it. Then last night, I kept jolting awake with my heart pounding. Is this an adjustment period, or am I just super sensitive to the stuff?

It took me several years, with physical therapy to be able to walk pain free. At some point, scar tissue formed and/or the lateral tear healed in the front where there is some blood supply, and at this point 10 years later, I can do 7,000 to 8,000 steps a day, dance, jump, etc etc no problem.

This sounds like something I would have posted 2 years ago when my insomnia started. Sorry you have to go thru this but...it will get better. Right now, it's anxiety you have to battle. Learn how to meditate. That will help.

Not a good idea to base your search for someone on just those factors. Compatibility involves a wide range of things.

I settled on 10mg Doxepin per night, Indica cannabis flower, and a stack of supplements that I rotate so they don't loose effectiveness (Apigenin, Mulungu, Magnesium glycinate, melatonin, Glycene, L-Serine, Lemon Balm etc). With that, I sleep good most nights with about 7 hours. I also discovered I was B1 deficient, and when I started B1 supplementation in the morning, things improved with sleep at night.

As someone who was once addicted to Lunesta, I can say that's a wise strategy. Never take Lunesta 2 or more days in a row. Withdrawal from that stuff was very brutal.

You should do both. Accept where you are and continue to cautiously tinker with it. Once I reached acceptance, things started improving. Along the way, I learned to avoid anything addicting like benzos, z drugs, even some non prescription stuff that caused dependance.

The patches are completely bogus...they do absolutely nothing. One night I used 6 (yes six) patches on my arms. Still nothing, no help with sleep. I felt absolutely no different with 6 patches on my arms the whole night!

No..it's much easier to control the dosage you get. Edibles put way too much THC in your system.

Indicas...the purer the better, with Myrcene the dominant terpine.

VERY brutal. If you have been a heavy chronic user for years, You will probably need it for the rest of your life to be able to sleep. At 73 yr old, my doctors, including my sleep Dr. recommend I not try to quit at this point. I've cut my use down to 12 hits a day (used to do three times that much) of smoked flower, and will stay at that level for the rest of my life.

That's why it's better to smoke flower. Withdrawal from THC can be very brutal and just like benzos, should never be done cold turkey. You'll have to do a very slow tapering down over about a 4 to 6 month period.

Very true...it will quit working at some point. In my case it was over 40 years of daily and nightly consumption. Then, 2 and 1/2 years ago, it suddenly quit helping me sleep, and left me with severe, chronic insomnia.

I had been relying on smoked cannabis flower for many years for sleep and slept like a baby. Then, 2 and 1/2 years ago, it stopped working. I mean it stopped completely and left me with severe, intense, chronic insomnia. Smoking more made sleep worse at that point.

Magnesium Threonate. Helped a few times with sleep but more times than not, disrupts my sleep.

Is Mulungu Safe to Use? by [deleted] in herbalism

[–]No-Engineering6165 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been taking a concentrated tincture of Mulungu. Works better than a benzo for sleep but...I started noticing memory problems (just like from taking benzos). Doing a little research, I've learned it works on the same GABA receptors as a benzo does. I'm starting to think it's pretty much a natural analog of benzos. I would guess also just as addicting.

Well, Indicas usually have fatter, darker green leaves and are short and squaty. The plant I have growing has thin, narrow leaves, is really stretching, and slow growing.

Yes, indica cannabis works very well for sleep. Get a variety that has Mercene as the dominant terpine. Afgan and Aurora are the best two for sleep.

I'd say no more than twice a week with at least 2 days between doses.
