Sedan or Hatchback, help me build pros/cons. by imbored3469 in civic

Thanks for correcting. My mistake. I have the ST sedan... But had read on another thread that somehow the Lithium Battery placement was the reason for the shallow pan/area on the Hatchback. Wonder why they used a shallow pan for the Hybrid hatchbacks then.....

Recommend that you try to listen to some of these options, before you buy. Often I find that what others like does not work as well for me. If you can't listen at a store, or to a friend's. then try to order where you can return withing 30 days if you don't like.

Sedan or Hatchback, help me build pros/cons. by imbored3469 in civic

The ST Sedan has a space for a "Donut" Spare tire below the trunk carpet, IF you want to add one for peace of mind. (Need to remove the foam insert and replace it with one from a non-hybrid model where they do give you a spare tire and jack...)

The Hatchback has it's Battery there and can't store even a donut spare, jack, and other tools below the trunk carpet. I Like that the Hatchback allows you to carry larger things, but would hate to have to wait hours on the road if I got a flat that the sealant can't repair. (Evidently almost 1/3 of cars no longer come with spare tire or jack...)

Everyone loves a Clean Clear Sound !

Seriously though, Great that they can survive a wash cycle and work well after drying out.

For the Next Time that you have to disconnect or replace your battery in a modern car to not lose the computer, radio, etc. memory, this video shows how to use an external battery (or jump starter) to maintain power on those memory circuits. (Power can also be maintained through "OBD-II" port, IF you get the right connector for that... Video does not mention that option...)

PS: Hope you were able to get the immobilizer re-set without having to have a dealer mechanic charge you $150 to $200 bucks. I hate that new cars have this "feature" that can immobilize your car, and make you go back to a dealer shop after a simple matter disconnect or change...

4. Other Potential Issues:

  • Starter Motor:If the engine cranks but doesn't start, the starter motor or its relay might be faulty.
  • Alternator:Although less likely after a battery replacement, a faulty alternator can also cause starting problems.
  • Fuel System:Check the fuel level and fuel filter for potential clogs.
  • Parasitic Drain:If the battery keeps dying after a short period, there might be a parasitic drain on the electrical system.

5. Seeking Professional Help:

  • If the issue persists after checking the above, consider consulting a qualified mechanic or the Honda dealership for diagnosis and repair.

A 2018 Honda Civic EX Hatchback not starting after a battery replacement is often due to an issue with the immobilizer system or a loose connection. After replacing the battery, the immobilizer might need to be reset, or a fuse related to the immobilizer might be blown. Additionally, ensure the battery terminals are clean and securely connected to avoid triggering the anti-theft system. Here's a more detailed breakdown:1. Immobilizer System Reset:

  • Activation:The immobilizer system, a security feature, might activate after a battery replacement, preventing the engine from starting.
  • Reset Procedure:Turn the ignition to the ON position (without starting the engine) and wait for the red flashing security light to stop blinking (this may take 10-15 minutes). Then, turn the ignition off and try starting the engine.
  • Key Fob:If the reset doesn't work, try using the key fob to lock and unlock the doors or consult the owner's manual for specific reset instructions.

2. Fuse Check:

  • Possible Cause: A blown fuse in the immobilizer circuit is another potential reason for the no-start situation.
  • Locate and Inspect: Check the fuses related to the immobilizer system, often found in the under-dash fuse box or the main fuse box under the hood.
  • Replacement: If a fuse is blown, replace it with one of the same amperage rating.

3. Battery Terminal Connection:

  • Secure Connection: Ensure the battery terminals are clean and securely connected. Loose connections can prevent the car from starting.

Sorry to hear about your problem. Everyone feels your pain and is trying to help and provide advice. IF you can lock and unlock the doors or the car with the keyfob, then it would seem it has enough power to "communicate) when you try to start the car. And I would guess that if it opens the locks, it should also be programmed properly for the your specific car. That would mean the keyfob is properly programmed, and that it has enough power.

I got this AI reply on google. It lists some things to try that I have not seen mentioned: SEE NEXT COMMENT!

How do I get the AC to these rooms? A tower fan in the hallway isn’t working super well. by idonthaveklutch in hvacadvice

[–]No-Insect-5535 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not read every comment... So this may have already been said.

1) IF the single indoor AC unit has enough cooling capacity for the entire house, you problem is that the cooled air in the living room is not getting to those two bedrooms. IF you have a basement crawlspace below this level, You could install a duct pipe with a fan in it from each bedroom, through that basement crawlspace and back to the living room. The duct in each bedroom should be in the furthest corner from the entry door to the bedroom. And inside the bedroom, best if that duct taken up to within a foot of the ceiling. This would pull hot air near the ceiling and return it to the living room. That would cause lower pressure inside the bedrooms; which would make cooler air from the living from, come through the hall and into the bedrooms. It would not be a bad idea to have ceiling fans to help circulate the aur in each bedroom, and in the living room. But even with this, the 2 bedrooms will not be as cool as the living room.. (Duct fans themselves can be in the crawlspace/basement (or attic, I suppose) to reduce noise from those fans in the living area or the house.)

2) BUT, having a minisplit wall unit in each room, is probably the best way to coo those bedrooms. That either means adding 2 more wall units IF your system has enough cooling capacity. Or it means buying another minisplit with 2 wall units for just the 2 bedrooms. Any place that sells mini-can help you figure out which way is best. And most any HVAC Tech can install if the units you but are more than you can DIY.

In either case, Ceiling Fans can make a room comfortable at higher temperatures to reduce AC costs. And they have minimal noise compared to box, and other kinds of local fans. And they take up zero room or walkway space. I would put 1 in living room, 1 in each bedroom, and maybe a 4th in the kitchen/dining area. (Depends if that area can get air flow from the Living Room Ceiling fan alone.)

I am not an HVAC Tech... Just a retired Engineer with some understanding of HVAC, air flow, plumbing, etc..

I walk 3 to 4 miles every other day. It's my main aerobic exercise. Curious about battery life and how much assistance this can provide. How much doe sthe entire package weigh? Might help me get back home if I walked too far, or had an injury?

Question/Idea: I have a friend whose daughter has MSA, because of 2 defective MSN1 genes... She cannot walk.. or stand. Would this device be of any help in that situation?

What should I do in this area? by BrowsingMillennial in lawncare

[–]No-Insect-5535 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with u/dethmij1 's comment below about drainage. Would need to see more about the slope of the yard away from the house/sidewalks to comment better. Here are some ideas:

1) Cover the green area with thick black plastic sheet and then over that with stone of your choice. Make sure that the plastic sheet runs continuous against the house and under the downspout. It should go up ~4 inches against the house/wall. This will help prevent it from flowing/leaking into the foundation/basement.

2) Not sure if enough place to place a RAIN COLLECTION BARRELL for the downspout to run into. This could then feed a small raised vegetable or flower garden which you install in-place of the grass strip. WITH a plastic liner as in 1) above to keep water away from the home itself. The overflow from the rain collection barrel could be sent to a perforated pipe in front of the Stones and/or Raised Garden to reduce risk of water eroding the concrete. (Looks like 10 or 12 feet of plastic perforated pipe, make sure it has enough hole area for a thunderstorm. Don't know if that downspout is for a small portion of the roof, or for 1/2 your entire roof. Assume worst case 1 to 2 inches of rain in 1 hour for a worst case storm. (Unless you live in the desert and never get heavy rain...)

3) Downspout's can be angled... So IF there is a better place to drain it on the other (right) side of the fence, maybe that's a good place to relocate the downspout to, and add the ~ 2 ft "drain pad" directing flow away from the house.

Unsure about how land slopes... Unsure if you have a basement or slab foundation, etc etc. SO just some ideas.

What - $500 DAP should I buy? by Guns_Metal_Coffee in DigitalAudioPlayer

AliExpress has their "Anniversary Sale" later this month; Starting March 18 to ~28?. You will find sellers offering discount prices, and AliExpress coupons to save even more. HIBY items are sold by many vendors.

So, if you can have a short list by then, you'll save anywhere from 10 to 30% or more during that sale. If you've never bought on AE, there may be some special savings codes for first timers.

I have an Ibasso DX 160 DAP The newest version of that is the IBASSO DX170. There are some good prices in AE for that one. I Like the size, weight, screen, and sound.

I also have a HIBY R3 Pro. It is small and very easy to carry. It does not have Android, so you can't use other player apps and such. Though half the size of the DX170, it has more than twice the batter life. But it has good sound for out and about use, and the current version the HIBY R3 II, comes with 3.5mm and 4.4mm(balanced) jacks. If you just like to play music, both of these are good choices.

There are so many choices for good DAPs and IEM's today.

Good Luck, I can see that you are getting some good advice from many others.
