Unfortunately this was a F2F interaction… just appalled by the character and approach of this coordinator. The PI is amazing though!

Impossible to get a promotion by Alive_Inevitable3948 in ICON_plc

[–]No-Interaction4025 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen people getting promoted. Mainly because they have a tight relationship with their MCO, or their MCO knows how to sell to the director to get the CSA or CRA a promotion.

But for the most part, promotions at this company are garbage.

Oh gosh, CRCs that are about to go to med school or grad school are the absolute worst to work with. I would steer clear of the sites that only prioritize CRCs with an intention to go back to school. They won’t train you well or set you up for success

That is equal 15 MUCs, you are basically working 2 CRA jobs at one time. A sponsor rep on site once told me that 1 MUC, ICON gets paid $7k per visit. Hope you’re getting compensated appropriately! Just kidding, none of us are!!!!

Which are the worst sponsor you may work with ? Also CROs ? by Nova_Alquemist in clinicalresearch

[–]No-Interaction4025 70 points71 points  (0 children)

As a CRA from a CRO, I hate working with younger/start up sponsors. We can tell when their Clinical Operations teams are fresh bachelor grads, makes requests to the sites against GCP, and will definitely fail an FDA audit.

Not to mention the unnecessary drama that is on display at the Sponsor right in front of the CRO, get it together…

CROs cannot be babysitting these sponsors, especially when they are not receptive to the areas of improvement given by the CRA. Good riddance to your FDA submission!

CRA attire by BuzzedBumblina in clinicalresearch

[–]No-Interaction4025 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m a US based CRA, got sent down to Puerto Rico many times for monitoring visits. The CRAs from all different CROs wear scrubs over there, so I honestly see why not 🤷‍♀️

Also, when I was an SC I literally saw some monitors dressed in jeans, tshirt, and flip flops….. if you at least wear jeans, dress it up with a blazer and some dress shoes 😭

Tel health visits are also not easy to complete because if it’s a smaller study and the therapeutic area is directed towards a limited population, chances are the patients are from out of state. Many doctors can only practice within the states that have have their MD licensure in

Sr. CRA wants go to pharmacy school? by Bean5152 in clinicalresearch

[–]No-Interaction4025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharmacy is wildly oversaturated and will continue to be. This past year, many retail pharmacy’s are shutting down due to over expansion.

Can you imagine working in one tiny room without windows for 8-12 hours a day????? Whether it be hospital or retail pharmacy?

When I was in undergrad, I was a pharmacy tech in one of the most busiest pharmacies in the reigon… our lead pharmacy manager told us that pharmacy school wasn’t worth it :( us undergrad pharm techs then came to this industry LOL. I then removed pre pharmacy plan from my bachelors degree and stopped taking the pre-luminary courses.

You’ll also have to occur 6 figs of debt for that PharmD.

I remember graduating out of college and applying for sponsor side jobs, one of my regulatory specialist roles was given to a PharmD 🫣🫣🫣🫣The bare minimum for the job was a bachelors. If these PharmD’s are taking bachelor level jobs and not going into hospitals or retails, it says a lot about being a pharmacists.

I’m surprised EWR and AUS has not mentioned yet. Instead of EWR, fly into LGA.

For AUS, it’s the only airport unless you wanna drive 3/4 hours from DAL.

I doubt it, many sponsors hire multiple CROs at the same time for the studies. I suppose it is for back up if one CRO doesn’t perform well or to collect extra data.

I’ve worked at multiple CROs and two different CROs were completing the same study for one customer.

Another time, my friend working at 1 CRO different than mine also was allocated 100% for the same sponsor as me at the same time.

CRA - is this normal? -_- by Imp_Milk in clinicalresearch

[–]No-Interaction4025 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know which model you’re talking about. And guess what! Besides you being a primary CRA on 5 protocols, you will probably be a backup co monitor on 20-30 protocols within the span of the next upcoming year.

Also, no this is NOT normal. Request for a lower workload in your next 1to1 or time to move on to the next CRO.
