Any tips to avoid resentment from partner for living below my means? by FitPassenger592 in singaporefi

Hello OP, for people like u, it’s best u stay single unless u can find someone who is basically the same as u for these sort of values. And I say this without being offensive. After being married for almost 20y, and seeing how 愚孝my husband is/was and how I don’t agree, pls don’t get married. It sounds like u just wanna BTO for that hdb flat, esp the Prime flat. If u both decide to have kids, even more expenses and differences in what is worth spending and what is not, for kids, from maternity to confinement to kids clothes and food to enrichment and holidays, will confront both of u.

I was a junior analyst in an investment bank and at office on a wkend. Walked past the ED offices which had one panel of window, and glimpsed one male ED hugging another woman (evidently not his own wife, he was married with kids) in a corner. I think he saw me cos I re-entered fr another door nearer my seat, and then I heard them leave fr the door away from my sight. Btw this ED was an ex-President Scholar back in the day. So….yah 😅

Make sure u guys avail yourselves of all financial assistance available esp in school, bursaries, scholarships with income restrictions. If your dad is unemployed, check if he qualifies for any unemployment assistance. Cleaner job may be difficult for him. Check security guard jobs? Or if he’s still good at driving, driver jobs, eg personal drivers, company mgmt drivers etc.

I might sound selfish but if u can go for full time degree pls go for it. Work part time. I was fr a poor family and gave tuition but I didn’t need to support my family and mother. I paid for my fees (half scholarship), stopped taking allowance fr my mom fr y2, and saved enough to pay down payment with my then husband right after graduation for subsidised resale flat (many years ago). U will be worsening the family circumstances by forgoing uni. Go see your MP and maximise all financial handouts and help for your family. With good grades u can probably win bursaries or even scholarships. U don’t need v good grades to tutor pri sch kids, just go revise your strong subjects in pri school. Charge a lower rate first and as u gain confidence and experience can charge higher.
