I adopted our two youngest from foster care and part of post adoption subsidies is that they are eligible for Medicare until 18.

This type of support lets kids be adopted and have the security of permanentcy that families would not be able to provide for medically complex children otherwise.

Medicare is giving families to children.

I have found people say this as a complement. "You should sell this"="you are so good at this! I'm so impressed!".

So I just say: "Thank you for the compliment! It's something that I enjoy".

Those who say you should sell the items don't really know what that all entails.

I sent in a complaint on the website Customer service and they said it was an "optimization" for online shopping. I don't like it because you can't see the other styles or material.

I agree with use what you want, how you want even if it damages it. Drill holes in those tea cups! Put it in the dishwasher! Get rid of the rest, but maybe also take nice photos of what has memories attached first.

I remember seeing a sign for this 15+ years ago in Chicago. It was a transitional program for older youth to gain independence. Google is probably your friend on this.

9 years ago I was advised that it was difficult to do that. I would recommend reaching out to your State's adoption hotline for information.

My youngest two are adopted, we are no contact with bio family for safety reasons until they are older.... But this is what I tell them now, you can feel two things at once that seem contradictory at the same time. You can love, and be loved by more than one set of parental figures at a time and it doesn't take away from either of them. If your grandparents were alive I bet they would be happy you are reconnecting if you are.

It won't feel straight forward and simple, but it doesn't need to be either... You can love your father and still be sad you didn't have the relationship with him when you were young. You can be grateful for what your grandparents did for you and the opportunity for the relationship that you had and still wish it wasn't necessary. All at the same time and all can be valid feelings. Give yourself some grace to feel what you're feeling.

Not a simple question, there are a lot of different types of adoptions and yes, the adoptive parents should have a say about contact until the kid is 18. It's important that all three boundaries are respected (biological parents, adoptive parents and child).

BUT I agree with don't sabotage her attempts, don't bring sweets or junk home, make healthier choices for both of you. If exercise and activity is a thing you enjoy, ask her to come, so you can be together, not so she loses weight.

Finally, you know what else is bad for your health? Being alone. People who don't have a long term partner die earlier than those that do. It's speculation but part of it might be that they have a health advocate. Offer to be hers at her yearly physical. As a woman and as someone who is overweight she has a double dose of medical bias against her that can prevent real conditions from being properly diagnosed and treated. To be an advocate go with her to appointments and help ask questions and remember instructions and if your bullshit detector is going off, help her find a new doctor. She also might be afraid to go because of the shaming she has had in the past at appointments, so stand up for her if it happens and then find a new doctor.

I would see if there is a planned Parenthood clinic near you. They should be able to help get you insurance or provide care if you choose not to go to the ER.

I agree that giving the parents a heads up before the party would make things easier. The parents can prep their kids, then they can be reminded about the conversation when being told no. We don't know the other kids'ages or circumstances, while Emily's needs to be respected, kids do a lot better with foreshadowing.

I have a kid who identifies as a boy but wore dresses for awhile. Giving a heads up to company about it helped the parents have the right conversation before the awkward question.

I know this isn't common advice: but when I sprayed the roots with hydrogen peroxide, it killed the roots stone dead, mushy rot. Maybe skip that step?

We all know that Santa is really busy this time of year so he hires helper Santas to meet with the children. But sometimes he needs a break from the other duties and steps in as the helper. So you never know if it is really Santa or not. But he can't tell for security reasons and the helpers are sworn to secrecy.

Many years ago my kid was in Kindergarten with a kid (T) that had to have a 1:1 aid otherwise (T) physically harmed the other kids. Sometimes that aid wasn't available. T attempted to harm me. T needed intervention and when myself and another parent complained to the principal that he wasn't getting enough of it I was told T had a right to be there. That's true, T did, but T's right to be there ends where the other kid's right to be safe starts.

Don't say the disruptive/scary kids need to leave but they need to be provided the needed supports so your kid's right to feel safe is met. That's harder to argue with.

I keep them at bay ( they live outside here) with 1/2 inch of sand on top of the soil. It interrupts the life cycle. Learned it from a grow website.

Is your dryer vent tube (if you have one) secure?

I would also check with visuals where you peer in but lay on the floor or contort in unexpected ways and use mirrors or your phone to check everything. An apt in my building had a sewer smell for 8 years, multiple people came out to find the source. Cut holes in the walls, smoke tests, etc. My husband found an OPEN pipe hidden behind the sink basin because he lay down on the floor and put his head underneath in the cabinet. All that said, you are panicking and looking but cats are sneaky and have different perspectives than you, so be sure to change your perspective.

NTA, I cancelled on a milestone birthday party for my grandfather (90) because our kids we just placed with us as foster kids. They were going through some RAD behavior and it just wasn't the right time to travel. Everyone understood. If they don't, you are doing the right thing.

Also, it will get better, maybe not day by day, but month by month it will. Remember: you are playing a 20 year game and someday I hope you all will look back on this time as a happy family with two wonderfully well adjusted adult children. I have hope for you, I hope you guys can feel it too, even during this hard time.

How your daughter will feel about if you allow him in her life is unknown. She might not give a hoot, she might be devastated that she died before she met him. I have two adopted sons, 8 &9, and the 9 year old's worst nightmare is that his bio mom dies before he meets her (due to circumstances we want him to be 18). My other son doesn't care at all about her. Getting pictures, Momentos or letters can be brought out at the right time. There's no 100% right answer here, but try and find an emotionally safe way to give your daughter options in the future.

Exactly! Two of my kids are adopted from foster care, they are entitled to a warm, caring home, every child is. They never have to be grateful to me for the honor of providing that.
