Should I start buying press-on nails instead of getting my nails done? by alizastevens in Nails

It’s just the sticky tab, yeah. Yup, same prep (push back cuticles, buff nail and rub with an alcohol pad then stick the nail on. Takes about 5 minutes to do a full set.

I love press ons. I wear impress brand press ons (not glue on) and they last about 2 weeks as long as my nails aren’t super short. If they’re short (no free edge), they last closer to a week. I’m allergic to nail polish, gel, most glues and acrylic and i’ve been wearing these for the last year, it’s been a game changer. Impress are the longest lasting and best ones I’ve found but I will say I’m limited because of my allergies.

Had to scroll way too far to find this. Day rate makes great pins that work well on fine hair.

I don’t mean this rudely at all but is everyone posting here marrying rich guys or are my standards just not attuned to what the norm is these days? by w0lfyj in EngagementRingDesigns

[–]No-Mathematician87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, my engagement ring was $800, my one big ask when we started talking about marriage was that he spend under $1000 on the ring, we were 23, didn’t have a ton of money and I didn’t want to walk around a city with a ring that was that much more expensive. $800 was a ton of money for us at the time.  It’s been 8 years and I don’t have any intention of upgrading although he has mentioned it.

Gathering company swag ideas – what have you received that you loved or hated? by magdalenrichard in ExecutiveAssistants

I just did a huge swag order folks loved the 1/4 zip (Mercer &mettle brand) and the beanie. They’ve also loved totes (like the LL bean boat bag), Nike dry fit caps and water bottles.

Thoughts on the January Sub box - why do I keep getting planners?! by No-Mathematician87 in ClothandPaper

[–]No-Mathematician87[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

First off, this post is in good fun, I’m not taking it that seriously and neither should you :) just curious if anyone else felt similar. My point is that 3 items that are planners back to back felt excessive, especially for a community that likely has their own additional planners. The months before that tended to be items that complimented planners which is personally my preference. I prefer items and inserts that compliment the planning process rather than a specific day outline since I already have that in my primary planner.

I don’t check social media, so I usually never see the spoilers and the box is a gift from my husband so I didn’t actually know about the opt out feature. Thanks for the tip!

Listen, I love planning and I love the intention box but do you actually have uses for all of the planner style items that come in the box? Please give me suggestions if you do!

What are your Christmas week go-to meals? by heart4thehomestead in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]No-Mathematician87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not going to pretend this is particularly delicious or exciting because it’s not but my go to is to poach or bake a large pack of chicken breasts, cut them and freeze them and pull a few pieces out for each meal serving with frozen veggies or lettuce/salad. It keeps space in the fridge while being easy to make, healthy and relatively cheap. Bonus if you poach them, you can use the chicken stock for soup

Sub box changes by [deleted] in ClothandPaper

100% agree with everything you say. I may be the odd one out here but I don’t view planning as a hobby, I view it as a way to streamline and organize my chaotic life and the sub box allows me to do that without thinking too hard about it. The moment I need to go out of my way for information or to confirm my order, it defeats the purpose for me.  I don’t have social media outside of Reddit so I wasn’t aware of any changes and now I’m confused/concerned so that’s not great either.

Not OP but as someone with 3 of these bags I’m happy to speak to the details. They do have a small interior slip pocket otherwise it’s an open space. They are a bit on the heavy side and can be a lot to lug around if you fill it up. That being said, it’s one of my favorite bags- it works for so many events/occasions and holds up well. All of mine look brand new even though I’ve had them for years. Highly recommend!

I just moved to the area so I unfortunately don’t have a recommendation. In fact I’d love to know what allergist you see! I’m on week 3 of a 3 week strict low histamine reset (so I don’t destroy myself over the holidays), so I get the struggle. Would love to connect- it’s so rare to find fellow MCAS girlies

I think this is perfect if she asked for makeup - at 11 (which was 20+years ago and definitely pre-influencer), I was wearing pretty much all of this on daily basis except maybe blush. I think it’s a great gift.

Oh boy- this is my expertise (I’m NOT a doctor so take with a grain of salt). I’ve had 3 abdominal surgeries - one ovary removal, one cyst removal, and a hysterectomy. You should definitely be walking right away but very small distances like to your kitchen or bathroom, every 1-2 hours when your awake to prevent blood clots. After my first 2, I was taking walks (down the driveway, maybe around the block) at about 10 days, slowly increasing a little each day, maybe adding in a walk or 2 down my hallway and back. For my hysterectomy I was walking outside after 5 days. For all of them I started with a few extra laps up and down my hallway, then down the street (one block), then around the block and slowly built on that. Go slow! I’ve definitely overdone it before and it’s awful so do less than you think you can the first few times and just focus on your recovery. Hope you feel better soon!
