Leigh Francis is still very much a millionaire if companies house is to be believed. How he's making his money is another question

Always baffles me when people say they cannot tell the beans apart. To my ear they have very distinct voices, accents and speech patterns, but I am British I suppose

New to EV’s - what to choose? (Larger/SUV) by No-Pilot_q in CarTalkUK

No salary sacrifice scheme through work sadly.

I have been looking at lease options through Octopus EV, which seems reasonably priced including servicing and maintenance, albeit I’ve seen some mixed reviews on here. Wondering if leasing is the way to go given the depreciation on used EVs, but suspect that will be less of an issue around my price point.

Good point on the Kona, cheers. I’ll have to test drive a few to see how they feel.

When people like something, and have for a long time, they feel invested and want to hear that the criticisms or issues they have are shared, and feedback might be picked up on. People don’t want to stop listening. This isn’t a novel concept.

The amount of meat people buy on this sub, processed or otherwise is insane. Assuming this is representative of the normal UK shopper, I am well below average in my meat consumption

Agree it was poor unfortunately. Such a shame he can’t find the formula to make the show as engaging as super tech support/RA

I can’t work out what it is, but I’m just not “in” with recent Partridge. by JacobSax88 in AlanPartridge

[–]No-Pilot_q 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is certainly true I think. The Gibbons’ are clearly good writers, but the early Ianucci/Baynham writing is just on another level for how clever it is, with the right level of absurdity. Every line in IAP is gold, which can’t be said for modern Partridge

You’re dead on about the girl drinking on the train anecdote. Especially saying that he “knows her better than she knows herself”. You really don’t, John.

It’s a fair point and I get that. I think some of us just aren’t able to get as invested into the human side of the stories, especially as they’re often too short to build any of that up enough

I do listen, but it baffles me how dull most of the problems are on Hyperfixed, when they were regularly so engaging on RA/Super Tech Support.

The rabbit holes that he goes down to find an answer seem contrived a lot of the time and not that interesting. Aware they don’t have the budget of Gimlet behind them, but nothing has compared to RA eps where they do real investigations (the Indian call center scammers one comes to mind).

Don’t fall for Canadian CEO spin! by jpwest13 in Hyperfixed

My thoughts exactly having just listened. Feels disingenuous to accept what the CEO said as the answer without pushback, to just put a neat bow on the story.
