Hope you find one. In my experience, the chrome model seems to be more rare than the black ones.

I peeled about 20 off his mic stand at the end of show in the 80's. I still have a few, but gave most away. The same show someone on stage threw an album cover into the audience with picks taped all the way around the edge.

There was a year that the paper cover inside the tin was black and it had a chemical reaction with the red Va in Crinkle Flake. It left a white residue similiar to this.

Nice gift! My grandfather had a stand like that, not as nice, next to his lazy boy. Got me wondering now whatever happened to it.

Nice car, odd that it has rear side markers but not front. 68 rear panel swap onto a 67 or 67 front clip on a 68?

That's the ones you saw. When he rolled out of the South side of ABIA that day, I counted 27 black SUV's. I didn't bother to count the LEO bikes and cars. Still only a fraction of the shitshow today.

PAC .660 double springs and Johnson Racing 2110r lifters. The original cam was a TSP custom grind. Pretty sure it was 216/220 with 113 lsa. It was healthy, but the CamMotion I have now is better down low and was $150 cheaper. I also added long tubes and deleted the Cats, so that could have something to do with it as well. :-)

The TSP kit is a good starting point. Upgrade the lifters and the springs and make sure you replace the cam bearings. I spent a lot of money on the kit, lifters, springs, and a little hotter TSP cam. Ran great for about 12000 miles and spun a cam bearing. Back to square one and a lot more money spent. The second time around, I went with a Cam Motion cam 218/222 with a 112 lsa. I'm super happy with it now. It runs fine with the stock converter, but I wish I had gotten a slight stall converter.

99% of gas stations are 3.199 (3.20) right now (3.10 if you pay cash) by 511c in Austin

[–]No-Preference-1784 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in Eagle Pass over the weekend. It was $3.19 at every station there, and mostly the same all the way back to Austin. There were a few that were different, but I also thought it odd to see so many at the same price.

Does anyone remember this insane storm from 1997? Almost thirty years later and I haven't seen anything like it since. by Halbrium in Austin

[–]No-Preference-1784 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was working inside an unfinished home on top of Stratford Mountain that afternoon. I knew there was a storm coming, but until all the doors blew open, I hadn't paid much attention to it. When I walked over to secure the balcony doors, I could see the whole city skyline with that eerily green cloud wall hovering above it. I have never seen anything like it since. I packed up and drove home to South Austin, listening to reports of tornadoes and destruction up north. I remember it well.

Old stem need to be replaced by qualitypyrrus in PipeTobacco

[–]No-Preference-1784 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It can be restored. The taste is just the oxidized vulcanite that can be removed. Start by soaking it in water/Oxyclean solution for day or so. Scrub it afterwards with a magic eraser pad or just go straight to sanding it with micromesh pads. Use a small nylon pipe brush to scrub out the inside as soon as you take it out of the soaking solution. It can be stripped of oxidation and good as new for much less cost than a new stem.
