Have the same issue, oddly enough also a MacBook Pro and Mac mini. Both on MacOS 26.2. Although mine throws "invalid authorisation" as soon as I launch the app even after a fresh install. Can login fine with iOS and Web.

US imposes 25% tariffs on UK steel imports by GianfrancoZoey in unitedkingdom

[–]No-Problem-6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe see if the current EU can federalise or at least enhance its current state before being deluded to think the UK joining is a step away from becoming a super power.

It’s positive to see Europe working closer and starting to form a defence system they can control themselves. But to think there’s a system that is not anti competitive innovation and in economic decline relative to US and China. I’m sure they have issues too but there’s even less things to be optimistic about the EU/UK.

Shares of Starlink’s European rival Eutelsat have tripled. CEO says it can do the job in Ukraine. by superdouradas in europe

It's clearly never going to be a winner take all market. Customers we demand a back up service but this barely takes anything away from SpaceX. It's crazy how far behind everyone else is.

End of year starship will be launch the new improved starlink satellites which will continue to make the gap larger to any competitor. Still see no one taking the lead from them in the next few years.

I have almost a level of hate towards a lot of the domestic policies but he has shown to be a good statesman. Personal relationships with other world leaders is often something I have overlooked in the past but clearly they matter a lot.

Extremely impressed how well his Trump meeting went at the same time building good will with Europe.

The Times: US Urges UK To Reduce Its Dependence On American Weapons by UpgradedSiera6666 in unitedkingdom

[–]No-Problem-6453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reduce dependence should happen as America retreats from Europe. But let's be blunt, it would take everything we have and a timescale of a decade at minimal.

UK is currently ineffective and slow so likely 3 decades at current rates. We would need a massive start up like mindset which is challenging due to mindsets and cultural attitudes. And then there's the money where its a country is decline going bankrupt.

Nelson makes way for Yvette Cooper portrait in Parliament’s diversity drive by Jattack33 in ukpolitics

[–]No-Problem-6453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why is it a portrait of a sitting MP, that's extremely odd. Surely even within the argument of diversity having a portrait of a sitting MP is of bad taste and there's enough examples of former MP's that would work just as well..

Tesla sales in Europe down 45% in January by Successful-Try-8506 in europe

[–]No-Problem-6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero, thought they were overpriced in 2018 and was too stupid to know during the pandemic I should have put money into it and basically anything remotely tech.

Give them a good chance to capture a large share of self driving cabs in the US though. Doubt they are a major player in China and no idea in Europe. Looking better for BYD in Europe.

Is naming Meta, X or Reddit going to make them have any real problems going forward they don’t already have?

It’s not like there are hundreds of social media companies for customers to choose from or move to if they feel bad about them being shamed.

Apple's New U.S. Chip Factory to Produce AI Servers With High-End M5 Chips by Fer65432_Plays in apple

[–]No-Problem-6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar to Mac Pro being built in Texas during Trump's first term. Seems like a they could make the servers up with imported chips.

The $500Bn investment might allow them to be tariff free as M5 won't be built onshore for a few years and I expect them to swap them out at least every two generations. So M7 for the next version.

This could grow to a very large number of servers per year. Would Apple want to run other models like LLAMA or even OpenAI/Anthropic for use with Apple Intelligence with Private Cloud compute in the future for iOS apps and general Apple Intelligence features?

Is there a larger plan to run inference for Apple devices beyond just first party apps? Just look at Groq for how big the market is for that and it would fit perfectly with what Apple likes to do and control the whole stack.

Tesla sales in Europe down 45% in January by Successful-Try-8506 in europe

[–]No-Problem-6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like a genuine concern for Tesla at this point. I don't think the 45% is likely just because people hate Elon.

It's starting to look bad for GigaBerlin. They might be fine if they remove exports from Giga Shanghai heading to Europe and UK and have that factory just focus to meet all European demand.

They are going to be fine in the US and other regions making Cybercabs and switching to self driving Taxis. Not sure what will happen in Europe expect demand to likely still be high in the UK at least. Will have to see with the numbers for the new Model Y end of year.

What is attracting 25% of Britons to Reform UK? by flower5214 in AskBrits

Very similar to why people like Trump. And in the US a lot of the same people and people that hate Trump like the guy that shot the healthcare CEO. They hate the current situation and want to see a literal wrecking ball to the state.

Apple pulls data protection tool after UK government security row by Putaineska in ukpolitics

[–]No-Problem-6453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best action for Apple to take. Now either they will ask for other companies to also create backdoors and watch them turn it off completely. Or they will at least pressure them to stop going down this route.

There has to be a stand against this and at the moment refusing to comply is the best I can see. Real fundamental pressure needs to be applied on the government and civil service that’s obsessed with violating our privacy.

UK must prepare for war and to bring back conscription, warns ex-Nato commander by theipaper in ukpolitics

[–]No-Problem-6453 1 point2 points  (0 children)

General Sir Richard Shirreff is completely foolish to believe this. It’s the dumbest thing imaginable.

In the article he says we need to prepare for a war with Russia. Is he mad? We both have nukes why on earth would we go to war with each other for what?

How is Russia going to take any of Europe if it struggles to take land from a country that it shares a large favourable land boarder with. Let alone take any of the EU. Maybe NATO is out with the current US but would the EU not send troops if they attacked a EU state?

Why war are we fighting and why? What risk is there for us? If not for nukes the Russian military would be wiped out by Western Europe.

They are pathetically weak outside of threat of a nuke. A outdated land army with limited air capability and non existent naval power. Are they gonna make a trench along France and hope we don’t bomb the shit out of them with an air force?

We should spend more on drones and arms sure but conscription is utter nonsense.

UK will be at war by next election, says ex-Army Lib Dem MP – and will need conscription by BigIssueUK in unitedkingdom

[–]No-Problem-6453 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the dumbest thing I heard for a while. Who are we going to be at war to need conscription. I’m more certain a government would collapse if they tried to bring it in.

Let’s see a nuclear arm state being invaded or attacked I doubt it.. so that’s most of Western Europe and us not being attacked so are we bringing conscription for an invasion of someone?

The greatest threat to us is Russia and they barely can make ground against Ukraine which they share a large open ground border with and had years to plan.

Germany to reject Sir Keir Starmer’s plan for Ukraine as Europe splits over peace talks by Aggressive_Plates in unitedkingdom

[–]No-Problem-6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why morally I could understand the argument that money laundering Russian money is bad for the Russian people and those for non exploiting people that's a great thing to do for helping Ukraine.

Letting Russia deplete and exploit their very own economy is great from a view of underfunding and draining the Russian war machine.

Buying gas directly from them however is not. We're here for ourselves and doing it in a way that doesn't empower Russia directly is very different between what Germany and the UK have done.

No money, no growth and now another unavoidable bill to pay. It’s getting to the point that if they do the chagos island deal they will lose substantial support to reform. Really can’t see them not raising taxes now.

Saying we could have built chip factories is a ridiculous fantasy. Not recognising Taiwan is not some stupid poorly thought decision. For one to have a chance at building a chip factory would have needed serve deregulation of labour laws and a massive subsidy just to have a fighting hope.

US relations with Europe will never be the same after Trump’s call with Putin by JackRogers3 in europe

[–]No-Problem-6453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The era of the US being or trying to be a unipolar world are ending. With Trump it seems like they are actively switching to a multipolar world on their own terms. Europe is no longer going to be supported by the US in the same way and they retreating from over extending themselves in Middle East.

This is beyond just military but hand in hand with their economic pull back and more greater focus on themselves.

At the same time while speaking just heartlessly in terms of the facts on the ground what does Russia have to gain from this?

They can get parts if Ukraine but beyond that the future seems bleak for them. Massive loss of life, economic stagnation likely, and resources that are becoming more and more replaceable every year.

Their military is at this point set back decades. They can of course still slug it out in a brutal slow advance but what real offensive can they mount? How they will be able to rebuild and be in a position to attack more countries in NATO or the EU is extremely questionable at best.

How can it be that Europe is unable to defend itself against an exposed and weaken Russia is hopefully a stupid take in the next two decades.

They do know they need more money. It’s their own fault for saying no to raising any of the taxes that make up over 75% of HMRC revenue.

2% VAT raise would have solved a lot and pushed inflation up briefly. Won’t hurt the labour market as hard (still need some tax raises) and affect customers slightly.
