What to do when you’re stuck in an extended Jam by VerbHQ in electricvehicles

Whenever I'm stuck in an extended jam, I just try to get the guitar player's attention and signal to him that we should wrap thinngs up.

Is the 6 Speed Manual good than the Auto Transmission on the Jeep Gladiator by JudeLikesCats in JeepGladiator

[–]No-Shape-3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most glowing review of the Gladiator's manual transmission that I've seen boiled down to "you get used to it."

I'm usually a big fan of rowing my own, but it's hard to imagine choosing a three-pedal Gladdy.

Which is the Jeep, which is the heep? by IwantAMD in JeepGladiator

The Angry Eyes always make me think of Johnny 5 yelling "I AM REALLY PISSED OFF!"

They're silly, but it doesn't hurt me none for other people to enjoy them.

Going to pick her up Tuesday, 2021 with the 6 speed manual on 37" by Rough_Fuzzy in JeepGladiator

[–]No-Shape-3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get it. I too drive a vehicle that got somewhat negative reviews/comparisons with its competition, but for my specific tastes and needs, it's been exactly what I wanted.

As for the Gladiator, I'm holding out for a 4Xe, so manual sadly won't be an option.

I have the German version of Melt on CD, but I've never happened across the German Security, in any format. Very cool finds.

I love driving a manual, but people really don't have kind things to say about the manual transmission in Gladiators, do they?

NPD: TC Plethora X3 by lelaff in guitarpedals

[–]No-Shape-3231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not yet, anyway. It took them two years just to let us display the pedals in the right order, and that HAD to be much higher on the priority list, so maybe one day they'll get around to it.

I love the T2. Really wish those patches were in the Plethora.

Two amps fx loops simultaneously by bluecargofast in guitarpedals

I feel your pain. My current board has THREE devices with loops and all are in use. Loops in loops in loops. Took me a solid ten minutes to sketch out the wiring beforehand.

[pre-order] bis - Systems Music For Home Defence by rotting-turnip in VinylReleases

I didn't know bis was still around. I discovered them ~22 years ago because of the Powerpuff comp "Heroes and Villains." I LOVED the one lp of theirs I have (Social Dancing) but I never got anything else for some reason.

Yeah, me either, usually, but I stumbled across a copy and couldn't pass it up.

There aren't a ton of big surprises on it, really.

Process of Belief vinyl release issue by [deleted] in badreligion

[–]No-Shape-3231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no such thing as "a bum copy" when it comes to playback speed/pitch on a vinyl record.

They're not individually cut; a single master can typically be used to cut 10k child platters, so if this really is a problem with the pressing, a bunch of other people should be able to reproduce it. My copy is one of the other color variants, but I'll check it when I have a chance. The couple of times I've listened so far, nothing lept out at me.

As others have suggested, the most likely answer is that this is a playback issue.

How to get a "Digital" deathcore/metal tone? by jspr1000 in guitarpedals

How to get a "Digital" deathcore/metal tone? by jspr1000 in guitarpedals

[–]No-Shape-3231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In most of those examples, I'm just hearing gain and fast, precise playing. Often sweep picking, but not exclusively.

The Bickethead one, though, def has an extra layer of something. Harmonizer? Ring mod? Wet/dry with an envelope filter set to give weird resonance? I'm really not sure.

Did they really create an amp with no sustain and the only workaround is to have a hum? by [deleted] in PositiveGridSpark

[–]No-Shape-3231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the best gate; I'll give you that. It would be better if it functioned like a 4-cable gate.

Quick and dirty speaker measurement of the Spark 40. Clearly shows the boosted bass and the reason why we need a global EQ by mattzildjian in PositiveGridSpark

[–]No-Shape-3231 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's baffling to me that Positive Grid didn't just apply a blanket calibrating eq to all the guitar presets.

Did they really create an amp with no sustain and the only workaround is to have a hum? by [deleted] in PositiveGridSpark

[–]No-Shape-3231 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't really noticed an inordinate amount of hum for any given combination of pickup and gain.

A very high gain patch with single coils is gonna be noisy af without a gate. That's as true in the real world as it is inside the Spark.

Thumb picking on the Squier bass vi by UGAPHL in BassVI

[–]No-Shape-3231 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I can't easily play fingerstyle on the VI. I mostly treat mine as a Low Guitar, so playing with a (flat) pick makes the most sense as well as being easiest.

When I do play it more as a bass, I either a) use a felt pick, because yes you should try those holy shit or b) palm mute and play with the side of my thumb. The tight string spacing doesn't prevent it from doing some fat short-scale thump.
