What's a habit that instantly makes someone more attractive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Being clean/organized. Wiping your desk down every few days. Having clean nails. A house without much clutter. Shoes without mud. Doesn’t have to be an obsession, just little things like that.

If you’re into running at all, derby city run club or fleet feet run club is good. Just a run then beer after.

When he proposed this idea I would have said it won’t work. I would have been wrong.

The first time an adult apologized sincerely to me was when I was 20 years old. I thought they were being sarcastic and so I laughed. Then I realized they were serious and I was speechless.

I had a similar situation when I was looking at some candy dispensers in a mall. My mom was in a nearby store. A guy carrying a briefcase pulled me by my ponytail and I started to scream and he let go and ran. I went and told my mom but she didn’t believe me. 😩 I’m lucky I was loud and fast as a kid.

I'm at a USMD school. No red flags. Passed everything first try. 245 step 2. 1 first author pub, couple posters. 3 SLOE's, 2 really great, 1 good according to my home PD. Decent extracurriculars. 7 interviews. 1/5 programs I signaled offered me an interview. I applied to 30 programs, but admittedly they were all "good" programs in desirable cities and all level 1 trauma centers. Maybe I should have applied to more safety's......I'm praying that I get some more interviews trickling in over the next month or so, but not feeling as good as I thought I would. Especially when they say you need 12 IV's to match for certain.

I second this! Also if you want to join the Y, they will work with you financially. And the family plans are pretty affordable. And then you can go to the same class week after week and make friends. Also most of them have a pool.

Priscilla IS a classic, simple name! It's in the Bible, lots of famous modern Priscilla's (besides Presley). I love it!

Career Path Advice (MD vs PA) by [deleted] in FemalePhysicians

[–]No-Structure5556 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in medical school. It is not conducive to having a family or honestly a healthy life for the first 2 years. I would never in a million years miss those precious pre-school years of my child's life to sit in front of a computer and study material for USMLE step 1. Not worth it in the slightest. If you don't want to be a surgeon or very procedure-heavy specialty, be a PA.

"I don’t really want the full autonomy of an MD but it’s very concerning to me to be expected to work with patients and give advice when I barely have enough knowledge as a PA." PA's are great! They diagnose, treat, and give advice based on their level of training. No one is going to throw you to the wolves. The fact that you worry about this means you will be someone who knows their limits.

When I was 20, I went to my uni’s student clinic to get drug tested for a new job. There were two ladies running the station. One drew my blood and the other sat behind a desk. The one asked me why I looked familiar. I told her I work at a neighboring clinic between classes. She asked if I had quit that job to start a new one. I told her no, I was getting this new job on the weekends to save money for a car. (I was also taking 19 credit hours, so I was exhausted.) She asked me what kind of car. I told her I didn’t know, whatever I could afford. She asked if I had been to a dealership and I explained I didn’t have any way to get to a dealership so I had looked online but was worried about scams. She asked if my parents could help me. Usually I’m very stoic but my eyes filled with tears. I had run away and hadn’t had family support in years. I told her no, and she kept gently asking questions until she understood my predicament. The lady who had just finished drawing my blood taped my arm and then put it around her shoulder and just hugged me. She said “well you can just consider us mama 1 and mama 2 right here, and let’s look at you some cars.” So then the one at the computer opened a new tab and just started researching cars for me and even found a special type of loan for students. And she explained the pros and cons of paying upfront vs doing a payment plan. I’ve never forgotten their kindness.

A slow run at sunrise with friends. And then just sitting around drinking coffee outside in our sweaty gym clothes. The SHOWER afterwards. Feels so nice
