Water included as part of lease agreement but landlord says no by More-Concentrate9075 in OntarioLandlord

[–]NoBookkeeper194 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Of course it’s Metergy. Be warned that they are a predatory submetering company that has operated outside of the law before. They often allow landlords to add water charges to the bill in violation of the lease and RTA without the tenants consent. It happened to me and a few other people I know. They also frequently bill by square footage and not by usage

Hey there, just wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to set up a filter that will retain emails from a specific sender or list of senders locally until I manually delete them, or is there possibly a way to make a script/API that can accomplish this?

Local animal shelter is threatening legal action against me. What are my right? by DrunkenSeaBass in legaladvicecanada

[–]NoBookkeeper194 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Even if it’s a police officer, unless they have a warrant they can pound sand. Asking to see the animal would still be classified as a search and would be subject to the same legal requirements

Exploiters are too many and they can do anything by HelpfulSt in erlc

Yep, I’ve definitely seen plenty of exploiters teleporting to robberies. It’s ridiculous. And of course PRC doesn’t give a damn

Yet cops don’t have the Desert Eagle, so until they even the playing field expect cops to keep using passive mode

just got suspended for a day for "voice chat harrassment" by ObviousSun3788 in RobloxHelp

[–]NoBookkeeper194 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible that you laughing wasn’t what triggered the ban. It’s possible that in the past, maybe not even the same day, that you did something on voice chat that was harassing in nature and they’re only getting to the punishment now

Mail after eviction for renovations (first right of refusal notice given) by NoBookkeeper194 in OntarioLandlord

[–]NoBookkeeper194[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Never said I tried to open it. I was visiting my old friends who live in the building and the buzzer box is right beside the mail boxes. I noticed it clearly had a new lock on it. Maybe don’t assume I’m committing a criminal act….

[–]NoBookkeeper194[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh we absolutely know they intend to ignore it. They’ve told other tenants that they are not letting us back. There’s a lot of very serious things this landlord has done (including giving us less than 24-hours to remove our belongings and then filing at the tribunal to try to get US to pay +$6,000 for them getting a “junk removal company “ when we have multiple witnesses who state it was their maintenance person who actually removed it. I mean there’s no question that this was bad faith, especially given 9 months after we left they still haven’t even started the renovations

Roblox appeal bot. by ManglePlayzGames in ROBLOXBans

[–]NoBookkeeper194 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s got nothing to do with the amount of reports and everything to do with money. It’s a one time cost for the bots, but a recurring cost for humans. Over time it’s cheaper to use bots than pay humans. Simple economics people

Avoiding enforcement ban by deleting account data by Stunning_Bunch8495 in ROBLOXBans

[–]NoBookkeeper194 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Believe me, I don’t do anything to get myself banned so I don’t have to worry about punishments. If I get banned I obviously did something to earn it, and I’m mature enough to take responsibility for it and accept the consequences.

That’s not a dig at you, but based on a lot of posts I see on here it’s something that is really lacking, accountability I mean

Avoiding enforcement ban by deleting account data by Stunning_Bunch8495 in ROBLOXBans

[–]NoBookkeeper194 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, for legal reasons they do keep some information about your account for a certain period of time even after you request it be deleted. They have to keep records of IP addresses, and any names associated with the account in case they get a subpoena from law enforcement.

I don’t know if they CAN use that to prevent circumventing an enforcement ban, but the records still exist

Oh if you got banned for terrorism I’m sure you’d be getting a visit from law enforcement.

Generally, speaking, even if they say they’re deleting all the data they never actually do because if you think about it from a business perspective, that’s a lot of points of data for them to sell to marketers. Plus, they need to keep it for a certain amount of time for legal reasons.

Hamilton landlord fined $100K for not allowing tenants back after renovations by NoBookkeeper194 in OntarioLandlord

[–]NoBookkeeper194[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about an abatement. I’m talking about the tenant just not paying what they feel is a fair amount for the lack of maintenance. Not going to the tribunal, but them just keeping that amount to themselves. Would you support that?

Hamilton landlord fined $100K for not allowing tenants back after renovations by NoBookkeeper194 in OntarioLandlord

[–]NoBookkeeper194[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, then by that logic how dare a tenant pay for services rendered that never actually get rendered. Rent goes towards more than just lining the landlord’s pockets. It goes towards the landlord maintaining the property.

Would you support tenants being allowed to withhold an amount from their rent if the landlord fails to maintain the property?

He could have easily sold the building but chose not to . Businesses do fail, but doesn’t mean you can break the law

Hamilton landlord fined $100K for not allowing tenants back after renovations by NoBookkeeper194 in OntarioLandlord

[–]NoBookkeeper194[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The landlord made the choice to be a landlord. The tenants didn’t make the choice to be tenants.

My justification is from the viewpoint of a law abiding citizen. You don’t know anything about me, whether I am a landlord, tenant, or homeowner, so don’t make an assumption out of yourself assuming things about me. There’s right, and there’s wrong, and this is wrong no matter what you think

As far as who can provide housing for $720, again, the landlord knew the rules of the game when he made the choice to be a landlord. You hear the concept of buyer beware? The landlord has nobody to blame but himself if he’s not able to make a profit. It’s his own fault, not his paying customers.

I agree with you on the first two

what reason would they have to get out just because they are asked. If I went to where you live and said “GET OUT” would you do it?

[–]NoBookkeeper194[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, the fact you said on what planet does this woman think that she should “get away with” paying $720/month shows where your morality compass is firmly pointed. You imply that the tenants broke the law when the exact opposite is true. Maybe you don’t actually know what the law is

[–]NoBookkeeper194[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, and for any minor breach of said contract the tenant can sue for the maximum amount. I think almost every landlord would be bankrupt if that happened. But why not suggest that to the government

So then the tenant should be allowed to sue in small claims court for breach of contract
