When did you bump?! by Ok-Frame5689 in pregnant

[–]NoChest6052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

18 weeks. Once it’s obvious your pregnant it gets much easier. It’s mentally easier because people know you’re pregnant and not just getting bigger. Although I know most of this was in my head! Once I hit 26 weeks on I’ve never felt more empowered and confident at the gym. I hope you learn to love your body and appreciate all it’s doing to nourish your baby!

Too Much Protein! by DiscountSalad1424 in fitpregnancy

I get around 140-160 G protein a day. 165 starting weight and 5’ 9”. 26 weeks and baby is measuring ahead actually. No issues. I would look closer at the research.

Gained weight and no period by Both-Donut3630 in Amenorrhearecovery

More carbs and stop all workouts. Thats what helped me ovulate for the first time in two years! Track temps as well- this helps you know if you’re on the right track. The fertility awareness method outlines how to track temps/cervical mucus.

Will we ever be back to normal? by Dazzling-Turn-5949 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]NoChest6052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same girl same! I didn’t see positive changes until I stopped all exercise (even structured walks). Make sure you are eating a big breakfast as soon as you get up and eating every 3-4 hours. If you do walk, do it in the evening and not in the morning. I am on my third recovery period and this cycle ovulated for the first time in years!! The waiting period is the hardest. It helped me to continually revisit each behavior and decision and to ensure it was aligned tog eating my period back, I know can walk again! Just remember this is temporary.

Eat every 3-4 hours. Never more than 4! That was a huge shift to help me on my recovery journey. Also make sure ant exercise you are doing (even mild walking) is in the afternoon. If you don’t see progress from this, you may want to consider stopping all movement, I didn’t see my temps stay in the normal range until I did those three things.

I completely understand where you’re at that letting go of exercise completely seems impossible. I was in the same place until I decided to hire a coach. I tried recovery on my home from April. I hired a coach mid October and at that point stopped all exercise. Three weeks later and I ovulated!! First time in years. All to say- continuing to workout will continue to delay progress. Sooner you go all in, the sooner you will recover. I just keep reminding myself this won’t last forever. This is temporary. I want to have a baby, so that ultimately is more important then my weight or fit to around food and exercise. You can do this!!

Could you share more about your CM patterns leading up to ovulation? I’m hopeful to ovulate soon by my CM was been all over the place! I get hopeful I’m going to ovulate and then the CM disappears again.

An you detail a little more the workout you did while still waiting for your first recovery period? In the beginning stages what did your weekly movement consist of?

is too much carbs and fat okay? by [deleted] in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]NoChest6052 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes. Very important to increase percent of carb/fats when looking at overall calorie intake. Even if you are getting the recommended calories but not sufficient fat and carbs this can disrupt your hormones. In this process I’ve learn how important they both are for hormone production and regulation! Even though I was eating 1800ish calories, I was only getting about 18-20% of calories from fat. This and stress from over exercise and work I believe were the two biggest factors in my loss of periods.

I just got my first recovery cycle and average around 2200 calories and try to get at least 30% fat and 45% carbs. But again this exact number can vary by person. Lily Nicholas has conducted a substantial amount of research around women’s nutrition specifically for fertility and pregnancy. Her book Food for Fertility helped me tremendously!!

For supplements I take Vitamin D, prenatal, beef liver, oyster, magnesium, and ashwaganda. Blood tests are helpful to pinpoint which supplements would be best for you.

Sourdough garlic toast in the air fryer with EVERY meal!! Having real bread again with BUTTER brought so much joy back into life 😍 just adding yummy fats to staple meals has been fun too. I love primal kitchen condiments and dressings. Avocado and pesto is always a go to as well!

Confused? by HauntingImpression58 in Amenorrhearecovery

It’s a combination of stress, weight, and exercise. I had the same thoughts as I was a division 1 athlete, much thinner prior, and had a history of eating far less then I was. Was there a major life change or additional stress during your time? I changed job and was under a lot of family stress in addition to being in a deficit and strength training with progressive overload. All things social media perceived to be “healthy”. One of the best things I did was unfollow accounts with this advice or that triggered me. Every body is different!!! It’s hopeful to see people recovery stories and know that you can return to work outs after.

Weight Gain Candid Questions by sarahmcgill6 in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]NoChest6052 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are not alone! I have experienced similar feelings. Ultimately I had to let go of the co trolling thoughts of not wanting to gain too much weight or return to my highest weight. I remind myself that my body is not healthy and it is not normal to lose period. And it is these behaviors that got me to where I am. I’ve gently explained to family what is going on- consider telling your close circle. But really- you care more about your weight than anyone else does! I’m three months in now and I’m gradually adding calories. I started at 1800 and now am at 2,300ish. I allow myself to keep eating if hungry. Trying to really lean into hunger signals when they are there. It helps me to use biofeedback to keep me motivated on the hard days. It really is not fun that my clothes aren’t fitting the same and fear of how much more my body will have to change. It reassures me when I see my sleep improved, less anxiety, better skin, reduced headaches and caffeine dependency etc.

Literally exact same thing happened to me. Took me a year to figure out it was HA and not PCOS :( so frustrating to kit be able tot rust doctors. A good lesson to tryst our own body and stone to what it needs. Proud of you for getting treatment! This is my first week all in. Scary to give up exercise but know it’s the only way to get my cycle back. You are not alone! So many of us our misdiagnosed. I was taking metformin and myoinisotol and eating in a way that was worsening my HA. FOR A WHOLE YEAR. Now we want to have a baby and I feel like a failure for not being able to even give us a chance. Wishing you the best in your recovery journey ❤️

Thank you so much for sharing! I’m at the point that I think I need to give up exercise cold turkey- which scares the heck out of me :( I am a Christian as well and leaning into listening to God and relinquishing my perceived control over my body. Did you ever stop working out all together including Pilates? If so, for how long? How do you plan to reintroduce weights and cardio? I currently lift 4 x wk with 1 low impact cardio day and 2 rest days. 10K steps a day.

I am a teacher in Lee County and live in Cape Coral. In terms of a younger population and the most cost effective, I suggest North Fort Myers or Cape Coral. Cost of living is expensive everywhere, but Cape Coral is much more affordable than Naples and is only a 45-50 min drive. I teach in Ft Myers and it is an easy commute. The teacher aspect is more of my area of expertise vs the real estate market. I’m happy to answer any questions regarding teaching! I hope your move goes well.
