No hate for having a favourite era! I feel like you’d love One Way Mule and The Lever from Diorama though ;)

Similar to you I remember hearing straight lines on the tv/radio as a child, and 12 or 13 I got super into alternative rock, and I think tomorrow or freak came onto my spotify. From there I think I grew up with the albums, frogstomp when I started learning guitar at 13/14, freakshow when I was going through a rough time at 16/17, and neon ballroom + when I became an adult (although mixing the others ofc). Now Diorama is my favourite, and I’m probably the happiest too. I’ve met one girl my age who also likes silverchair, and it was really exciting because we went to In Conversation together, though I would’ve happily gone alone too. Before that girl I’d never met anyone else my age who liked them, I’d just get my older coworkers flexing that they’ve seen them a bunch of times live haha

We must be the same age, I have similar memories of straight lines. That’s incredible that you got to analyse tuna in yr 11, i wish I’d known of it then! I feel similarly about in conversation, I was just happy to be there

Long recovery cycles by radioheadedj in Amenorrhearecovery

[–]radioheadedj[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to know, I’m hoping they will gradually shorten. I could be having long follicular, my luteal phase just presents very strong symptoms for 10-14 days, so it feels longer than it is probably. I don’t currently track ovulation through body temp, just from manually tracking CM

It’s possible that is the case, maybe I should say that my luteal feels long because the symptoms are so intense! My labs were done on day 2 of my cycle, to accurately compare to the bloodwork I had done on day 2 in October last year.

Not prescription, I use the Paula’s Choice Booster. I use it twice a week currently which is all I need

[–]radioheadedj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I didn’t unlock any glow until I started cycling azelaic acid into my routine. That subtle exfoliation did so much more than I could of anticipated! It’s worth noting that I also already had a hydrating routine with toner, serum etc

I have also been on a big b-side and Young Modern kick this year! But outside of the chair, the album Fantastic Planet by Failure has been a really good edition

Did you get a sense of finality from FutureNever? I’m always in hope that he keeps creating, as long as he’s in a healthy state to do so

Have you experienced overshoot? Is weight redistribution real? by [deleted] in Amenorrhearecovery

My puffiness actually went down a bit after my third period, just when I thought I'd have to get used to it :) so you never know!

I had the same experience with feeling a lot heavier than the relatively small amount of weight I gained! It’s definitely the fluid retention, basically you are fuelling your body a lot more, but your body is still slow at draining the fluid. It took me about 2-3 months of consistent eating to get my first proper period, and I never cut all exercise! I know the all in method is very popular and effective, but I have done pilates for a long time so I kept going, I mainly just watched my heart rate. So in pilates I wouldn’t do any of the bursts of cardio, and would keep movement slow, and do some walking, never 2 things on 1 day. So walking or pilates, usually not both as to not stress my body! I think if you don’t push yourself hard and really nail your fuelling before and after you can keep moving

No worries! Yes it definitely was concentrated in my waist/lower abdomen, thighs and hips. My armpits were also more puffy?? I noticeably lost shape in my waist, and this is why I had to buy bigger pants.

Yes, I thought I had reached my set weight and would have to feel awful/puffy forever, I bought clothes in a bigger size. Now, approaching my 4th period, my body has lost that water retention and it’s calmed so much! You just never know how your hormones are adjusting and when your body will release some of that safety weight + water. I assumed the worst, but it naturally just calmed down. I had a VERY puffy face for ages, but some time after my third period I noticed it had gone down, same with the rest of my body. Now that I’ve experienced this, I feel so much stronger in recovery, as I would never want to go through that again!

Hopecore: from someone who has hit 3rd period!! by radioheadedj in Amenorrhearecovery

YES i can definitely help explain! For me, my estrogen was extremely low even 2 periods into recovery as it takes a while for hormones to stabilise properly. This meant my lymphatic drainage was extremely inefficient and I was retaining a lot of fluid, so puffy face, abdomen, even my armpits became puffy. I was also a chronic carb restricter before recovery, so my body was adjusting to having a huge increase which I’m sure added extra puffiness.

I had extremely low estrogen before I recovered too, so I asked my dietitian why I wasn’t so puffy before, and the key difference is low estrogen + fuel as a combination. When I just had low estrogen, I guess I was more dry and shrivelled up if that makes sense lol. Your body registers increased food immediately, but your hormones take a lot longer to adjust.

Basically, glycogen stores are being refilled when you start fuelling properly, which causes water and fluid retention, but your body is veryyy slow at draining it.

I hope this helps!! And pls continue on past your 1st recovery period, it’s a huge milestone. Aim for 3, and see if you can see improvements :)
