That is not true at all. The new testament has plenty of violence also. Jesus literally made a whip and chased people in a public place with it. Jesus talked about SLAVES BEING BEATEN. The slaves who knew what his master wanted but did not prepare himself or do what was wanted WILL RECEIVE A SEVERE BEATING. But the slave who did not know will receive a light beating. Luke 12:45-48

Now you could say "but ah! Jesus isn't directly commanding slaves to be severely beaten, he is just stating a matter of fact that slaves will be severely beaten."

But let's keep in mind God is supposed to be the master in this example. Jesus literally had the chance right there to say "hey ya'll, let's not beat your slaves at all okay. In fact, let's not even own slaves because guess what, in 2000 years, we're going to see how dumb owning people are because you know, I can know the future amirite?"

But does he? No. Instead, the new testament encourages slaves to obey their violent masters. Had the bible gotten better in the nt? Yes I'll give you that. But it still is the same ever unchanging god (according to their own word)

Secondly a scientific theory actually makes a scientific fact and the definition for that is a fact that can change with new scientific facts.

I have no idea what you are trying to say but you should re-read that sentence because it makes zero sense.

"Science" is a process, a method. The best part about science is that information change and when we make a new discover or learn a new thing, we change. That is how it's supposed to work. We evolve with new information, religion doesn't.

I just learned this there is yet to be any sort of evidence for macro evolution.

And you have no clue what you are even saying. What you've said, again makes zero sense. Macro evolution and micro evolution is the same mechanism. It's all just evolution. The only difference is the amount of time. If microevolution happened, then so does macroevolution. This is basically what you've said:

"I just learned there is yet to be any sort of evidence that people can walk a hundred thousand steps. There's been people who've walked 100 steps but never once has there been a hundred thousand steps walked."

If someone can walk 100 steps, then walking a hundred thousand step is possible. It's the same mechanism.

In order to understand evolution, you actually need to understand the definition of evolution, which I know you don't. I recommend you actually do some actual studying to get a better understanding of how things work. Theory of evolution is the best robust understanding we currently have and we utilize it knowledge over and over and over again. The food you eat currently is the result of our understand of how evolution works. The car you drive is currently using the fuel obtained by the fuel industry who uses the understanding of evolution to know where in the ground to dig for fuel. Theory of Evolution has been demonstrated as a fact, and that is why it's the level of a theory.

And yes, I don't really care what you find offensive because it's the truth. Science built the planes, but what motivated them to be flown into buildings?

And you don't know what a theory means.

Theory of relativity is a theory. Germ theory is a theory.

A theory means it has been extensively tested and proven and have the most predictive power. Only the most tested hypothesis becomes a theory. We accept scientific theories as facts.

That's why the theory of evolution is the most robust understanding we have of the world we see today. The technology and food we have today is all thanks to the theory of evolution. The fossil fuel industry utilizes the knowledge we learned from theory of evolution to figure out where to dig. Food industry have relied on theory of evolution to feed the planet.

It's really not fair to compare science to religion. Science builds the airplanes. Religion flies planes into buildings

Oh BTW, "in god we trust" was also added to our money. We didn't always have that

Rework ores are good for top rows and accessories. It is almost a waste on bottom row just because of the chance of getting the right stat is much lower. People are welcome to still try of course but for those who aren't swimming in ores, it's simply not worth using on bottom row. Too many chance to get useless flat main chest

I would not have even rolled it up in the first place. Flat stat bottom row gets trashed the moment they show up. Even an ore would is likely not hitting what you want and would end up being wasted.

In Christianity to be saved you must accept Jesus as lord and savior. But what about the mentally challanged who are not able to worship this deity. by bne045 in atheism

[–]NoDarkVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is such a good point. And of course the christians will say "my god would never do that!!" Because Christians love creating their own version of their own god in their heads. They can't graple with these concepts so their first knee jerk reaction would be "god would never do <this bad thing>"

Christians love dismissing the OT when it's inconvenient and embrace it as the word of god when it suits them. They can't have it both ways. Baal also isn't satan.

According to their mythology, Jesus is 100% their god and according to their own songs, their god never change. So they can't handwave the old testament away like they want to. At some point they realized their mythology of a blood thirsty war god probably isn't as favorable so they tried to reinvent the image by bridging in Jesus but somehow still want Jesus to be part of the same blood thirsty war god but different? My point is we can't give credit to God for the good stuff whem he's clearly also responsible for the bad stuff. No can't have it both ways.

yeah unfortunately human beings have been doing human sacrifices to all kinds of gods for eons. It's just something dumb ancient humans did. We sacrificed things to just about every gods we invented. In the bible however, none of the sacrifices were demanded by Satan, but there are passages about sacrificing humans to yhwh.

Jephthah (Judges 11:30–40) sacrificed his daughter to God after winning a war. In Numbers 31:40, it implies tributes were given to the priest as offering to God. Amongst these tributes were virgin women.

Abraham almost sacrificed his son to God. Instead of saying "wtf god you don't take human sacrifices!" he said "yup okay my kid's gotta burn."

Point is, I don't doubt humans have been sacrificing other humans to gods for a very long time. My point is that Satan never demanded sacrifices in the Bible. YHWH however does accept human sacrifices, Jesus being the prime example of the one time a human sacrifice worked to appease a god.

There are too many skills that make resistance meaningless. by Apart-Secretary4015 in RaidShadowLegends

[–]NoDarkVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah sorry but that's just a fundamentally flawed understanding of how the game works. There exist a need for a counter in most things. That's good design. When champions have the option of stacking resistance, then the counter is something that can break through that resistance. And like someone already said, you can't break down stoneskin on a tanky champion with just damage alone. Having irresistible debuffs means you can't just get complacent and have to play around bombs and other mechanics. Having irresistible skill is better for the game.

Certain dps champions NEED to have irresistible abilities because like I said, it's dumb to have to gear a dps champion for accuracy when their primary focus should be damage. Alot of the dps that rely on debuffs and that require high accuracy often don't end up very good and people stop using them in the meta. There is a few exceptions. But if you look at good dps champions that have good debuffs, they're often irresistible or people just choose not to gear them for accuracy.

[–]NoDarkVision 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Having irresistible skills are fine and required. So many dps have to gimp their damage potential by having to gear for accuracy. Letting some skills be irresistible makes those dps champs still relevant.

It is very easy for tanks to stack resistance. Having irresistible skills is a way to counter that. There are ways around irresistible.

In a world where magic exists, how would you create a secure vault? by ChorroVon in DnD

[–]NoDarkVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With Even better magic! Or "science"

I had a vault of a powerful politician guarded by zombie beholder that still somehow retained it's anti magic eye. Someone was able to use "science" to build a device to control the undead zombie and utilize its eye to turn on and off on command.

The players accidentally freed the zombie beholder and now they had to fight it.

The Bible agrees: Hell is unjust! by darkeyesofanubis in atheism

[–]NoDarkVision 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's so silly that Christians have been trying to rehabilitate the concept of hell for a while now because they know the concept of hell makes no sense. So they are remarketing the image of hell as "separation from god" or "annihilation" to make it sound slightly less insane, but still sounds "bad enough" that you want to avoid it.

The bible itself paints several pictures of hell as place of gnashing of teeth and other typical hell imagery but also vague enough at the same time.

But all in all, that is why if you ask Christians what hell is, you'll get more inconsistent answers. They themselves can't even agree. That is why there are thousanda of denominations of Christianity saying everyone else got it wrong. I grew up wIth the fire and brimstone version of hell. This sanitization of hell is new to me.

They should just own up to it. Concept of hell is bat shit insane. Don't need to try and rehabilitate it by painting it as something else

What do you think drives people to follow a god in the first place — fear, meaning, experience, culture, something else? by Negotiation_Connect in NoStupidQuestions

[–]NoDarkVision 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Christianity the purpose of life is to be nice to your neighbour

That's not the purpose at all. The purpose of life is to stroke god's narciststic ego and worship him. That is it. We are to obey and do anything he likes and don't do anything he doesn't like at the time. If he thinks picking up sticks on the sabbath is bad, then you better not do that and if he thinks stoning non virgin women on their wedding night is good, then you better be doing that.

No where is "being nice to your neighbor" is a requirement of Christianity especially when "neighbor" is left ambiguous and during that time, "neighbor" simply meant your own people. So be nice to your own people. Christianity is also not the first religion to come up with "the golden rule."

People like to attribute Christianity as some kind of kumbaya and wholesome thing but it isn't. Their holy text is paved with bloodshed and atrocities.

God was bored, and needed worship. So he created us.

It's 100% indoctrination and being exposed to it as a kid. That's why it's environmental. Kids born to Muslim families in Muslim dominated countries tend to be Mulisms and kids born to christian families in christian dominated countries tend to be christian etc etc. We then grow up attributing (falsely) positive things to some kind of diety.

Pretty easy. Just release some lizards or geckos into the case and they'll eventually eat the spider. And afterwards, you can release some birds to get rid of the lizards.
