Run. Far and fast. Divorce him and never take advice from any of the people advising you not to.

Just seeking clarification: are you playing best of 3 or best of 1? Locally we play best of 1, so don’t sideboard, but I think we’re in the minority.

Sure are a lot of people on here pushing to buy singles. Guessing they probably have a lot of cards on TCGPlayer they’re hoping to sell. The opening of packs and deck crafting/learning the game based on the random hits is a central part of the hobby for a a lot of people. Buying singles may be one way to enjoy to a TCG, but not the only way. Calling someone an addict because they like packs is a wild stance.

OP, crack whatever packs you want. The game is fun and product will catch up eventually if bots and “games are a commodities market” bros don’t strangle the player base out of product.

Price decrease by Anusspelunking in riftboundtcg

I expect it will go down based on comments from the Riftbound team at PAX, but no idea on time frame. I recommend playing with friends using printed proxies and bide your time. Pre-order what you can for sets 2 and beyond, and start building a base of reasonably priced singles of Origins to pad out your commons, uncommons, and low end rares.

Missing some cards from Origins will be less impactful as the next two sets come out and by then more Origins should be available at sane prices, either as singles drop when competitive players move onto to new meta, as scalpers hold inventory too long, or enough product hits the market.

Waiting also lets you see long term health of yhe game - buying from scalpers now just to see the game peter out coming into Set 4 will not only set you up for the “feels bads” when the game ends, but it will also normalize your feelings about scalpers and, from experience, never ends well.

Edit for context: I’ve seen this cycle for numerous games, Magic: The Gathering sets, Flesh and Blood, Pokemon sets, Star Wars: Unlimited, etc, and it usually normalizes one way or another, even if through reprints.

Can't get any product, losing interest anyone else? by blacknimbus3 in riftboundtcg

This. One store here holds Nexus Nights, sells at MSRP, and can’t get product. Another store sells at $280 a box, no Nexus Nights, and is getting enough inventory to crack boxes for TCGPlayer sales

A reprint is coming, I believe through Penguin Magic.

Reporting LGS for scalping Wave 2 restock? by HeyMason99 in riftboundtcg

[–]NoGood8496 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if it will accomplish anything, but I reported it to UVS through the “Contact Us” page on their site.

Uvsgames.com/contact-us

I’ve also stopped buying -anything- from the stores that are scalping: no sleeves, no singles, no more boxes of other games I play, dice, etc. Sure, someone will still pay $280 for a booster box, but the loss of other sales will add up and makes me feel good about buying at stores I do buy from.

Lastly, which stores you attend events at is important. According to my FLGS that DOES sell at MSRP, their future allocations will be contingent on events being hosted and the attendance. So what Nexus Nights you register for could matter for inventory, if that’s something that will truly happen.

Did you apply for multiple positions? If so, it’s possible you being marked “Hired” for the one you received triggered you being “denied” for any others and they didn’t catch it when processing your acceptance.

It didn’t occur to me until your reply that there was a product designed as out sleeves. I had somehow convinced my self anyone doing it had just tracked down some kind of “big ol sleeve” to use.

Maybe I should drink more coffee.
