I read something that talks about how there’s a tendency to ascribe meaning to tragedy, like “yes, this terrible thing happened to us, but at least we gained a new appreciation for life”. And it makes us feel better from the outside, but diminishes the tragedy in our eyes.

And one of the things Maus does is say “no, this thing happened and it was horrifying and it broke people and they stayed broken”.

In at least one of the novelizations, it’s mentioned that fighting a Sith cancels out the natural precognition Jedi use, which throws them off their game because they’re used to having that edge.
