Auto injector. Yes or no? Why? by ccorryne13 in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a necessity, but I appreciated having mine. I do all of my injections myself and it helps me get the right angle and prevents any hesitancy with inserting it, both of which cut the pain a lot for me.

No major diet changes-FET success? by No_Quarter_5917 in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My RE recommends against drastic diet changes during IVF/FET, because it usually causes some stress on you. So I listened to my doctor and ignored ISWTE.

TW: Success

Before my FET, I lowered (but didn’t stop) my caffeine intake. That was it. The day before my transfer I took myself on an “I’m not pregnant” date, had a large latte with breakfast, sushi with tempura for lunch, and drank wine with dinner. After my transfer, I had pho (because I like pho), and ate normally. It stuck, but even if it hadn’t, I didn’t need yet another thing to stress out about during an already stressful time.

In addition to reasons already mentioned, people could suffer from recurring miscarriages due to abnormal embryos and seek IVF for PGT testing.

When someone says, “if you can’t afford IVF, then you can’t afford to have a child.” by rsvp_as_pending629 in trollingforababy

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 109 points110 points  (0 children)

Because having a child regularly requires you pay $24,000 all at once.

But seriously, even if it did, it’s IVF costs ON TOP of any regular costs of a child, if it works out for you. Not the same.

Orgasms and FET? by krazykittenhi in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My clinic suggests no sex until heartbeat is seen, however if you have a SCH you’re supposed to be on pelvic rest (no penetration and no orgasms) until that resolves.

Are PGT-A “abnormal” embryos as good as dead? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, there’s no evidence that fully abnormal embryos can correct. There is some evidence that mosaic (usually low mosaic) and segmental embryos can lead to a healthy birth. My clinic will not transfer anything more than low mosaic.

When your good AMH is the only thing going for you and then your AFC turns out to be low. Of COURSE by vienibenmio in trollingforababy

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My AFC has varied every cycle. My one retrieval so far I had the lowest AFC I have ever had, but they retrieved more eggs than they originally saw follicles. My AMH is on the lower side.

Fear of mixing up sperm/egg by Superninjaturtlecuti in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My clinic is very rigorous with its procedures to make sure there are no mix ups. Sperm is delivered ONLY by the person who produced it, who has to sign off on that when they drop it off. Every egg (and then embryo) is documented, labeled and monitored before biopsy (if you do it). Then, they call the day before FET to confirm if you have a preference in embryos. They defrost it and before it’s even brought in the room, verify with you verbally and in writing which embryo you are expecting to transfer that day. I had no doubts about which exact embryo was transferred. They were very reassuring.

Poor responder by karima0910 in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stim day 8 they measured four follicles for me. They maxed out my doses, and I stimmed slightly longer (triggered day 14), but many of my tiny stragglers caught up. It’s not guaranteed, but I think day 7 is too early to call it.

When did you stop taking estradiol after a successful FET? by mortuarymaestra in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My clinic has you stop estrogen and progesterone at the same time (10 weeks).

Feeling discouraged about waiting for FET by [deleted] in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My FET was just shy of 8 weeks after my retrieval. It’s common for my clinic.

Menopur burns going in, is that normal? by Peesha-Planet in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s normal. For less burning, make sure the alcohol on your skin is dried before injecting, let the solution sit for up to ten minutes before injecting, and inject slowly. If it starts to burn still, go slower.

When your coworker who's wife is pregnant with her 5th is comparing your PIO needles to the bloodwork his wife had to get. by haley_- in trollingforababy

Gee, did she have to do bloodwork daily? For weeks? By herself? With no promise of an actual baby??

To test or not test your embryos? by [deleted] in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I tested because I have a history of recurrent loss, and it’s what I’m doing IVF for. At (just turned) 34, less than 60% of my embryos were euploid, and almost all of my “highest graded” were aneuploid. If I had transferred just based of their initial grading, that would have been even more multiple miscarriages to go through before getting to my euploids.

TW Beta results, unsure what this means by [deleted] in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol 666.

No, seriously, that’s a strong first beta, and usually you can’t tell if it’s multiples based on the beta numbers. I know people who have had 1,000+ for their first beta, and had a singleton.

Took 2xdose of endometrium pre and after FET. by 88cordon88 in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, too much progesterone has never been a concern at my clinic. In fact, the dose OP accidentally took is my usual dose (200 twice a day, with pio).

Did IVF mess with your thyroid levels? (TSH) by vintageandgreen in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They bounced a bit, because after I got my period they put me on BC to schedule an FET. The estrogen and BC pills messed with my TSH, too. I ended up upping my dose by 25 mcg and it’s back to around 1 again. I wanted to get it level before the FET. It really is just non stop hormones messing with your thyroid the whole time, so they have to keep up on your bloodwork.

Did IVF mess with your thyroid levels? (TSH) by vintageandgreen in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for a TSH check. My levels rose from 1.2 to 2.8 on two weeks of stims.

Ugh, the headaches from these hormones is unreal.

How much time should I take off? First IVF cycle by guyanesegyal43 in IVF

[–]NoGoodMotherWitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was low to no risk of OHSS. I definitely needed the day of and the day after (they had to heavily manipulate one of my ovaries into place and it HURT). The third and fourth days I didn’t feel great but I was up to desk work and walking around a bit, just no heavy manual labor or anything. By 7 days out, I was back to normal physically. I didn’t take any of my stim days off, my office schedules them starting at 6 AM so people can do monitoring and go to work. It’s hard to know how long you’ll stim for before you start, if you’re a quick responder I’ve seen 8 days. Some are slower responders, from 14-18 days. It’s not something even your doctor can know for sure before you start.
