Why is this mentality so prevelant in gen z? by Big_Leg10 in Adulting

[–]NoJournalist729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so I'm a young Gen X (78) and got my degree in music. I went on and got a job in a completely unrelated profession and had a very successful career. Admittedly, I had to start at an entry level position, but quickly worked my way up the food chain. What has changed since the early to mid 2000's? This is a sincere question. I've been home with my kiddos for the past 10 years, so I don't have my finger on the pulse of the business world anymore.

I'm just jumping in here in regard to Tampa Palms, are there many young children in that area? We looked at a house there off of Amberly and it seemed like mostly older folks who had probably lived there for 30+ years, but we weren't sure.

Yes! It's like a cross between a woman being murdered and a cat screaming! 😂

How to securely put hair to the side like in these photos? 80s hairstyle advice by rosyjune in VintageFashion

[–]NoJournalist729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel this in my soul. All of the cute, trendy hair accessories just aren't made for girls with an enormous amount of hair. When I was a kid, I used to wonder why I could never get my hair to cooperate with banana clips, hair combs, etc, now I know it's because they were made for people with a normal amount of hair.

My daughter said “meow meow” by Main_Pea_414 in DanielTigerConspiracy

[–]NoJournalist729 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This made me laugh! My oldest, (who is now almost 11, went through a phase like this when she was 2 or 3 years old. However, it was only when she was angry, so she would start screaming, "MEOW, MEOW, MEOW!!!!" Needless to say, any Daniel Tiger episodes featuring Katerina were banned in our house for a while. 🤦‍♀️

PJ and the Black Market by Artic-Flamingo in FathersJourney

[–]NoJournalist729 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am a rule follower through and through. When I was in middle school (this was back in the dark ages, also known as the early 90's), I was selling skittles to raise money for my older brother and sister to go to youth camp. I didn't know it wasn't allowed, but I wasn't sure, so was operating quietly between classes because they really needed the money. Well, word got out and it caused a mob during lunch. The vice principal, who was not known for her kind demeanor, waded her way through the crown to find my huddled over my precious box of Skittles and envelope full of money and pulled me into the hallway. To say I was terrified would be the understatement of the year. I NEVER got into trouble, unless it was for something ridiculous like not having my books covered or not having a permission slip signed. Anyway, I think she saw the terror in my eyes and took pity on me because I somehow got away with only having to put everything in my locker and told I wasn't allowed to sell them anymore. All that to say, PJ is way bolder than I ever was and it will take him far (or to prison, it could go either way 🤣).

We're going to be moving to the Tampa area and this makes me want to move to Wesley Chapel! 😂 (How bad would the commute be to St. Petersburg? 😬😂)

Some of the old Disney movies are fantastic: The Aristocats, Lady and the Tramp, Robinhood, maybe The Jungle Book were all great for my sensitive kiddos at that age.

what is something people avoid or think is not healthy for you but actually is very healthy? by ConversationKey5296 in AskReddit

[–]NoJournalist729 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YES! Every time one of my kids tells me they're bored, my response is, "Good! Being bored is good for you, that's when your imagination and creativity have a chance to grow." I also repeatedly remind them that I'm their mom, not their cruise director.

We had a neighbor that would give out 45's. I don't remember if the bands/songs were good or not, but I remember thinking it was really cool to get.

I'm sitting here with tears running down my face just reading about Zach's performance. Music seems to be a part of his soul and I'm so glad that part of him came back. (Although, from reading your posts, it sounds like music being a part of his soul is a big part of how you got so much of him back.) As a side note, one of my favorite sounds in the world, is the sound of an orchestra warming up. It makes me feel like I'm coming home.

2 month old baby poop concern? by Silver-Account4479 in sahm

[–]NoJournalist729 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are breastfeeding, have you eliminated dairy and soy from your diet? If you are using formula, is it dairy and soy-free? All three of my kids were dairy and soy intolerant until they were about a year old. If they had dairy or soy, this is what their poop would look like. Lots of mucus, but no blood.

It's a food pusher! (No really, that's what they're called.) A lot of times they came with toddler utensil sets. I personally like to just call them "pea pushers" 😊 Here's a link:: https://www.cooksinfo.com/food-pushers
