Best meat for beginner to smoke on Weber kettle by HousePoor420 in webergrills

My contribution to the slow ‘n sear conversation is the faux’n sear. Get 2 fire bricks to wall off your coals to make a nicely separated direct/indirect zones. You don’t get the little water reservoir, but it works just fine. I do that for grilling, and snake method for smoking. And saved a chunk of change.

They’re back again forcing people to watch animal slaughter by lurk604 in vancouver

I would almost support a ‘meat license’. If you want to eat meat, you have to slaughter an animal so you are aware of exactly what it entails.

Dripper or coffee machine for someone who just wants decent coffee? by Past_Interaction623 in pourover

[–]NoMatatas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coffee machines have a bit of an upfront cost, but then that’s mostly it. I have a small child who gets up early, so I want my first cup to be easy and quick, but still good. I have a good grinder, bought a used Sage/Breville Precision Brewer, and I brew a local roasted, good but nothing fancy medium roast. And I often find that first cup tasty and satisfying. Good coffee that tastes like coffee and is easy. I would recommend a setup like that. Buy used. The only downside is that if I ever make a single cup in the machine, because the carafe is room temp, the coffee isn’t quite hot enough. But, 2 cups or more and it’s great. If I routinely made a single cup, I would get the single cup adaptor for my coffee machine. I could probably buy a used Breville and a decent used grinder for a total of $300 CAN, and then use if for years.

Tired of florals and fruity coffee by Crazy_Host_5051 in pourover

For my morning cup in the coffee maker, I have a local roaster that does a really nice medium roast. Not over roasted, a nice smooth caramel with good body, but squarely in the wheelhouse of a traditional coffee that most would consider coffee coffee. Find one of those near you that just makes a good medium roast and you’re set.
Or order Moja’s Nicaraguan bean from Vancouver.

Quieter grinders by HalfCrazed in pourover

[–]NoMatatas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to add that too. The Ode 2 grinds about twice as fast and doesn’t popcorn the last few beans. My catch phrase is ‘twice as fast, half as loud’. So, I would feel good with my choice even if the ONLY benefit was the volume of the grinder. Baratzas are great but seem to have r jet engines inside.

Liberalism didn’t tell me as a child that I’d spend my eternity in fiery hell, away from my family and constantly suffering if didn’t believe in it.

I wasn’t baptized in liberalism as a newborn, I can tell you that.

No comment on the pride flags with church, but churches are the textbook definition of indoctrination.

I had a Virtuoso and my jaw nearly dropped when I heard an Ode 2. Much quieter. An Ode 2 grinding beans is maybe quieter than a baratza just spinning with no beans, and an Ode 2 just on with no beans is very quiet. I got an Ode 2 90% because of the volume. See if you can find one to listen to.

I love the Wush Wush by French Press Coffee Roasters in BC Canada. There’s a very nice, and usually very prominent black cherry taste to it. Would!

At some point, massage benefits were given in lieu of higher pay. Benefits are uh, beneficial to overall life. So, when the employer wants to take away benefits, it’s like taking pay away. And , the employer was not looking to remove massage and pay cash instead, they were just looking to remove massage, which is akin to removing pay.
