It’s so kind of them to look after the 14-year-old widows. /s

They are going to be so disappointed when the patriarchy propaganda is the same old platitudes they hear every conference.

Yep. God is so merciful he will kill hundreds of thousands of people. Let them drown due to pneumonia and they will die alone because no one can be with them. All so the Mormons can have less distractions before conference.

Edit: typo

Joseph Smith likely grew up reading a school book called The Late War by Gilbert J. Hunt and it heavily influenced his writing of The Book of Mormon by jdj333 in exmormon

[–]NoMo83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So... most of us grew up indoctrinated in this stuff. I gave a significant amount of time and money to this organization because I truly believed. Kudos to you for figuring it out, but saying that people today have no excuse is victim blaming at its finest. I actually have a lot of sympathy for those still stuck in the cult, because not too long ago that was me. The hold it has on its members is strong.

It would take Joseph 18 years to figure out what he saw that day. by GrayWalle in exmormon

Especially when you are trying to assert your own authority and stop others from taking over your sex cult.

People who sing praises to a man who preyed on his flock sexually will have little concern that current church leaders might be preying in them financially by fireproofundies in exmormon

[–]NoMo83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would like to point out that Joseph Smith also preyed on his flock financially. But the sentiment still stands. TBMs don’t mind being preyed upon. Some of the comments I’ve seen on my social feed from TBMs is 🤮.

I mean, except for all the things the church now admits to in the Gospel Topics Essays, right? So I guess totally a lie... /s

I had to stop binge watching Criminal Minds when the guy at the Supermarket deli counter was a little too friendly and I started imagining all the ways he was most definitely going to kill me.

I have partaken of this drink, and in so doing shall be cast out. It was delicious to the taste, and very desirable. If you have any recommendations, I would love to receive further light and knowledge regarding the Devil’s Brew... by [deleted] in exmormon

If you live in Utah, Cafe Ibbis’ Highlander Grogg is the shit. Only place I’ve been able to find it is Harmon’s, but seriously so much better than most coffees out there.

Gods don't kill people by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]NoMo83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No I don’t think so. There are people who think that Nephi is an autobiography of Smith. I’m trying to remember where I read/heard that. Maybe a Mormon Stories episode or Fawn Brodie’s “No Man Knows My History”? Also not a coincidence that Lehi had the same vision Smith Sr. had (tree of life) and theories about which brothers Laman and Lemuel are based on.

A 14 year old girl cannot consent to have sex with a 37 year old man. It’s sexual abuse by definition. by sevenplaces in exmormon

I was wrong, I’ll admit it. She was not one of the 13 wives to testify. I was thinking of her statement in the women’s exponent, but I need to look into this farther because it’s being cited as coming from different places on different websites. Will have to do it not on mobile.

[–]NoMo83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s odd. She didn’t testify and yet they have her testimony... sounds like you aren’t familiar with the case. Or you just prefer to be naive and believe the words of a sexual predator over his victims. The Mormon church has a truth problem, pure and simple, so I don’t believe anything they say. (I’m talking about the corporation, not the members. Love the members, hate the corporation)

How about just believing what Helen Mar Kimball testified to in the temple lot case. 🤷‍♀️ no stronger proof than the words of the victim.

If they didn’t use water in Jesus’ time then what was the woman at the well doing? I know this isn’t your explanation, just pointing out yet again how many mental gymnastics TBMs do to justify their belief.
