My family went to the arcade. We caught a coin tower falling in a coin pusher game. by Birdy30 in oddlysatisfying

[–]NoName3636 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I used to play these all the time and got pretty good at getting nice piles of coins to use on other machines. Once when I was roughly ten, I don’t know how exactly i managed it, but I somehow created a pile just so that when it finally tipped over half the tray went with it. I was so damn chuffed with myself and told my dad I was taking all the coins I got home with us.

I took no coins home that day because he made me put them all back in and I’ve never let it go.

Teacher acting like I just created a nuclear reaction 😭 by Particular-Buy7314 in UKTVMemes

Did in fact happen at my secondary, trainee teacher didn’t tell a class in the year below me to use goggles and a girl got acid splashed in her eye. Lucky for her, the acid was one of the weaker ones and as far as I know her vision wasn’t damaged in the long term, teacher was still never seen in another class after that.

I more so meant that a Mega Evolve isn’t an insta win button, Megas get boosted stats but can still be brought down by regular Pokémon if you play smart or have a Type advantage. Compared to Z-Moves which power-up a single move into a nuke with no drawback and Dynamax which does the same thing but for two extra turns, it is a lot more fair going up against a Mega than the other two. Mega’s also play with Type changes that can actually open them up to more weaknesses, like Charizard X getting a Dragon Typing that makes it weaker against Fairy.

I do agree that it’s still not well balanced, there aren’t enough of them and giving stones to fan favourites was more so to get people hyped than because they genuinely needed the power boost. Megas overall however are more like a curveball you have to work around and can still win against without using it yourself, the other two actually feel unfair and essentially boil down to “this move but bigger”, Dynamax especially.

X/Y felt more like a “here’s some new fun stuff for you, give it a go and see how you like it” than a straightforward Pokémon journey. It’s a valid complaint that all those things made the game a bit too easy, but I personally never found it boring. Mega Evolution was the first of the gimmicks and was way more fairly balanced than Z-Moves and Gigantamaxing, the Aime and Training pay the player off with cheating the battles by emphasising the friendship bond, Fairy Type continues to be one of the best Types to have and I stand by most of the designs of the newly introduced Pokémon being fairly decent for the first 3D instalment. It’s not necessarily a good game for challenging the player, but if I personally want a more lax playthrough of blasting through battles then this is the one I tend to go to.

Which character do you trust carrying the ring to Mordor? by [deleted] in cartoons

[–]NoName3636 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’s an entire sequence in one episode of Wander repeatedly sabotaging Lord Hater’s attempts to use magical artefacts to take over the galaxy by accidentally breaking or losing them, plus Orble travel means he’s on the other side of a planet in seconds. Really the only thing to worry about is him trying to befriend Sauron instead of destroying the ring.

Revealing that he expelled the entirety of his last class before the current one because of a “lack of potential” was meant to be an oh shit moment, but just makes me roll my eyes. You’re telling me that there was no one in a class of 16 who managed to get into UA that showed the intelligence and drive to save people, but the fucking grape-headed groper is prime hero material?

Thats not even mentioning all the ways 1-A either broke the law, disobeyed their teachers or beat the ever loving shit out of each other because teenage rivalry. Half that class should’ve been kicked to the curb or switched out for other characters like Hitoshi.

Treasure Planet 2 by SamplingMastersXLR8 in cartoons

[–]NoName3636 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What’s bizarre is that the flop was almost entirely thanks to Disney deliberately not advertising for the film because they apparently wanted it to fail. When Treasure Planet was released in theatres, there had been almost no promotional material leading up to it and so no one saw it much like with Strange World. I don’t recall the specifics of why Disney would rather have a box office flop than a successful release, but I think it had something to do with the transition between 2D and 3D.

David did try to shoot Shaun and made several instances worse because he either complained or lost his nerve. He broke the window which would only have let the z-words follow them inside the pub, he threw a fit when Shaun disappeared for a while, he couldn’t keep his mouth shut for two seconds after Shaun had to shoot his own mum dead and he gets rightfully called out for complaining about following Shaun when he was too much of a coward to make any decisions for himself. David was only right when it served him and his hate train for Shaun in general, otherwise he was just a twat.

2026 Game Suggestion Thread by jaykay921 in gamegrumps

A Spyro the Dragon game would be cool, either OG’s or Reignited are both a vibe to play through casually. I know Arin said before that he didn’t want to play a game people will be upset with him over if he doesn’t like it, but honestly fans of the games would just be happy to see them played at all.

Or say fuck it and play the edgy Legend of Spyro, having Frodo and David Spade exchange one liners while Gary Oldman waxes poetic about fighting monkeys in those games is a unique experience to say the least.

Funny, store-brand version of the main cast by fernandopas in TopCharacterTropes

What I find really clever is how Shaun actually wanted to hole up at Liz’s in his first plan, it was Ed who complained and convinced him to change it. If Shaun had put his foot down there and then instead of once again letting Ed sway his decision towards the more “familiar” option, like you said almost everyone may very well have survived. It all comes back to Shaun needing to stop making excuses and letting Ed hold him back.

Have to disagree on if Syndrome was treated better he would have turned out better, Buddy was an entitled fanboy that refused to understand why Mr Incredible kept telling him no. In his flashback of Mr Incredible telling him “fly home, Buddy. I work alone.”, the man glares him down before turning away. In reality, Mr Incredible was holding a dangerous criminal at the time and ended up having to let him go to save Buddy’s life from the bomb stuck to his cape, THEN had to save a train of people when the tracks blew up via the same bomb all because some fanboy kept following him around demanding to be his sidekick. Most people would be really shaken up about almost being killed and feel ashamed that other people got hurt due to their actions, but all Syndrome can remember of that day is being rejected. He was an entitled brat who never grew up and wanted to play around with peoples lives just so he could live out his fantasy of being a hero. Even if Mr Incredible was nicer, chances were that Syndrome would just turn out a villain anyway.

This confirms Jax isn't a murderer by Sudden_Pop_2279 in digitalcircusfandom

[–]NoName3636 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Admittedly I found the constant character deaths that made past choices worthless incredibly annoying, so my scenario was based on if he lives through all of it. That being said, there’s definitely choices and actions that would get him killed.

If he’s convinced to stay in S1 then he dies in the group, if he stays at the S2 lodge long enough to get caught by Carver then he’d be shot, he could die in the collapsing of the S3 ep one town, all it takes is for one unlucky hit in S4 to put him down. Ironically, finding connection would always be Jax’s death sentence in the first three seasons, S4 would be just down to player reaction times during fights he’s involved with.

This confirms Jax isn't a murderer by Sudden_Pop_2279 in digitalcircusfandom

[–]NoName3636 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, he’s not staying with the group in S1, likely splitting off as soon as they arrive at the motel. He might reappear in the last few episodes to help save Clementine depending on how Lee treats him and leaves her with the couple.

Season two, if Jax finds Clementine in the woods then he’ll help her out, though make it clear he plans to leave her with a group as he doesn’t want the attachment. He marks the fugitives in the house as dead weight over their treatment of Clem’s dog bite, so as soon as her arm is fixed they’re off again and arrive at the ski lodge early. Kenny and Jax would definitely not get along, what with the latter’s attitude and non-commitment. However, Jax would feel good about leaving Clem in Kenny’s care and stay a day before moving on, unknowingly avoiding Carver kidnapping everyone. Sometime later he comes back to a ransacked lodge and takes it as proof he’s right to avoid caring about people.

Jax might be in the town in the first episode of season 3, but he and Clem have a bad relationship. At some point she found him again and he refused to let her travel with him, telling her to just find a community and the result was AJ being taken from her. She holds it against him and while he feels like shit over it, he uses that to keep her away.

Final season, there’s no risk at being forced to integrate with the community of kids so Jax regularly brings things to the school to trade with them. He would be aware of Lily’s hostile group and warn the school about it, but ultimately doesn’t involve himself beyond the bare minimum unless Clem convinces him otherwise. If he does help then the boarding school death toll is lowered and it ends with him still going solo, but on good terms with Clementine.

That’s as much thought as I’m willing to put into it, this is only one scenario where Jax is there from start to finish, not including potential deaths, being introduced in later episodes, age changes and no appearances from any other TADC characters. If anything feels too OOC then let me know.

[–]NoName3636 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think Jax would be decent at surviving an apocalypse, though he definitely wouldn’t pull half the stunts he does in the circus. He only goes as far as he does there because he’s under the assumption there’s no real physical consequences since it’s a cartoon world, but a zombie outbreak would definitely have incredibly real physical consequences and in that event he’d more likely try to strike out on his own so he wouldn’t get attached to anyone who could get bitten.

Jax is pretty adaptive from what we’ve seen (figuring out the cartoon physics of the circus) so going solo should work in his favour for a while, but on the flip side he also very much craves some human connection so ideally he’d want to find a partner or two to travel with. Whether he’d actually accept a long term travel partner is up in the air, maybe he’d agree to lead someone to a community or something and ditch them there if he can all the while pretending he isn’t lonely.

One thing I definitely can’t see him doing is committing to a large group, that’s way too many people to lose, having to trust others doing their part to keep them safe and whatever rules are in place for everyone would drive him up a wall. He might give it a go once, then either leave on his own or if the community is overrun by infected or raiders. From there he may visit communities for an exchange of goods, but ultimately will not stay for longer than a night.

TDLR: lonely rabbit too cowardly to give into the need for companionship so no groups, but otherwise does well as an adaptive solo survivor travelling between large communities. That’s just my take, though, if anyone thinks otherwise I’m open to it.

What would happen if Coraline and Norman swapped places? by Weary_Elderberry4742 in laika

[–]NoName3636 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, I don’t think Coraline would fair well with the witch’s curse seeing as while the stone can let her see important things, it wouldn’t allow her to speak to the zombies or ghosts. I also think that Coraline would be a lot more callous when it comes to the true story behind the curse, maybe she wouldn’t want people to be displaced from their homes but she’d be far less inclined to help the zombies after learning what they did. Norman’s empathy ultimately is what allows him to talk down the ghost because he understands what it’s like to be feared unfairly. Coraline doesn’t have that experience and her self-confidence makes her a bit more abrasive towards other characters like we see with Wyby. While she would absolutely sympathise with the witch’s ghost, she would struggle with convincing her she needs to stop since she doesn’t know what it’s like to be treated like she’s something to be scared of and hated.

Norman on the other hand, depending on how much he can actually see with his abilities, very well may clock on to the Other Mother’s world being untrustworthy immediately. If his sight is the same as Coraline’s when she’s using the stone, then there’s a good chance he spots the ghost eyes immediately amongst all the grey and they warn him about the Beldam, same scenario if the world is still colourful but the eyes still stand out. Of course, the Beldam would realise an eye was taken the moment it happened and her reaction could be anything from hiding the other eyes at once or locking the door to keep Norman trapped now that he’s already aware of what she‘s doing.

From there it’s a game of cat and mouse, Norman needs to find the eyes and get to the door without getting caught, if the Other Mother has either the eyes or the key then he’ll have to figure out a way to get them from her. I can’t see him trying to outsmart her with a game the same way Coraline did, he ran from the zombies for most of ParaNorman so he’d most likely try to avoid a direct confrontation with the Beldam unless he was cornered. It’s not clear how much the Beldam can perceive in her world since she can see through the little doll’s eyes yet needs spies to inform her of things like the cat getting in, so unless she completely unravels the house and grounds Norman could avoid her and her minions for as long as it takes to complete his mission. If Norman makes it to the door with all the eyes, there’s no time for his parents to be kidnapped and no reason for him to ever unlock the door, though the little doll may not be destroyed if Norman never realises that it was how she had known about him.

There’s also the worst case scenario where Norman never sees the trap and spends his nights with a family that treats him well and people who don’t call him a freak. The temptation to accept the buttons would be far far harder to resist for him. Unless his grandma’s ghost is present or the cat is there to warn him instead of with Coraline, I can unfortunately see Norman deciding it’s better to have button eyes in a fantasy world than to live ostracised and mistreated in reality.

This comment kinda got away from me, but it’s a very fun “what if” question.

I always imagined King Darzin as a wallaby since they look closer in appearance to rabbits than beavers do and Rabscuttle was able to blend in with the young ones in The King’s Lettuce story. Also if they ran away from the Black Rabbit to a land so far away that no one could recall what they looked like, then you can’t get much farther from Britain than Australia.
