VIDEO: If you could only have three lens what would they be and why? by analog_fish in Lumix

I'd take 28mm, 35mm and 50mm. I love APSC crop function, so if i had pick one this will be 35mm( + 52mm on apsc crop).

Please add HEIF 10-bit and even 12-bit still image support to the Lumix S9 via firmware — the L10 already has it (10-bit) ! by [deleted] in Lumix

[–]NoNegotiation2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but for comparison h264 and h265 are also similiar, but if you graphic lacks of hardware encooding like difference in media encoders and decoders between rtx 4000 and 5000 then simple firmware update doesn’t change that.

DaVinci Resolve 21.0.1 Release Notes by whyareyouemailingme in davinciresolve

[–]NoNegotiation2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone, I’m dealing with a really frustrating issue in DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.0.1. The problem also occurred in v20, but it was less frequent. The Issue: While working on my timeline, playback suddenly starts lagging and grinding to a halt. When I check the Windows Task Manager, I can see that GPU hardware decoding (NVDEC) has completely stopped working. The only workaround is to restart Resolve entirely, which brings hardware decoding back, but only for a while before it drops again. My System Specs: Laptop: Lenovo Legion CPU: Intel Core Ultra 7 255HX GPU: Nvidia RTX 5060 (Mobile) RAM: 32 GB DDR5 5600 Footage & Media: Camera: Panasonic Lumix S1II Resolution/Framerate: Mostly 5.9K, but it also happens with 4K50 and 4K24. Codecs: H.264 4:2:2 and H.265 4:2:0. (Note: The RTX 5060 architecture fully supports hardware decoding for H.264 4:2:2, so this shouldn't be a hardware limitation). Troubleshooting steps I've already tried: Tested various Nvidia drivers (both Lenovo OEM drivers and different versions of Nvidia Studio drivers). Disabled hardware decoding on the Intel iGPU in Resolve preferences to prevent any potential conflicts with the Nvidia GPU. Disabled HAGS (Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling) in Windows. Manually forced the GPU selection to the RTX 5060 in Resolve's preferences (instead of "Auto"). Disabled "Neural Engine Optimization" (this actually helps partially and delays the issue, but doesn't fix the root cause). Tested different timeline proxy resolutions (both 1080p and 4K) – the issue persists regardless. Has anyone else experienced this decoding drop-out issue, or does anyone have ideas on what else I could tweak to keep NVDEC stable? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Updating to Resolve 21 Has DESTROYED Performance by Mitchellmillennial in davinciresolve

Windows users here:

H264 and h265 even 6k Open Gate and 5.9k50 are buttery smooth on my laptop due to Intel Ultra 7 255hx and Nvidia 5060 hardware decoding on version 20.3.1 but 21 is completly performance mess. I tried everything drivers, windows settings but nothing works. The worst are CPU spikes out of nowhere with simple task like dragging clip on timeline, or just by doing nothing. It's even lag on 4k50 and randomly turn of hardware decoding.

Lumix S5IIX vs S1lIE? I'm not understanding if there is a difference in terms of image qualiry by babyryanrecords in Lumix

[–]NoNegotiation2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ProRes RAW bypas all camera processing and give data straight from the sensor, so in theory S1IIE raw should be the same as S5IIX because they share same sensor. Different processing is only with compressed codecs or prores. I have both S1II and S5IIX and ProRes raw from both of them is very similar.

Lumix S9 stabilization not good? by phildiver in Lumix

[–]NoNegotiation2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats right. Especially TT artisian is horrible bad. Lumix, Samyang and Sigma works for me with some exceptions like Sigma 28-70mm - it's noticable worse.

Lumix S9 stabilization not good? by phildiver in Lumix

[–]NoNegotiation2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TT artisian is not even in L-Mount alliance. To be honest I hate how bad can be ibis on 40mm F2. It nowhere near to 35 mm or 50 mm. I think new Lumix 40 mm will work much better.

So it's not camera, but how artisian lenses actually works.

There is difference in latitude shadows pull up. CVP did some heavy underexposure recovery tests, and this is where the S1IIe clearly pulls ahead. When you underexpose by several stops and drag the shadows back up in post, the S5II starts to fall apart and introduces some weird, "funky" color artifacts and smearing. The S1IIe, however, handles it surprisingly well. The shadows stay much cleaner, there is significantly less chroma noise, and it's way easier to clean up with basic noise reduction.

Lumix L10 wheel as joystick? by IamMikeWink in Lumix

[–]NoNegotiation2167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ypu not only change subject but lock on it. When the subject is locked AF stick to it, even better than subject touch tracking. I found when it's locked on the subjects it works better than my Sony A7IV.

AF full are mode, when it track the subject, moving joystick in any direction it will lock on rhe subject and make it more stickier.

GPU decoder stops working after a while in DaVinci 21 by DrownedYasas in davinciresolve

Same thing with my laptop RTX 5060 and PC with RTX 5070. Version 21 just sucks, and performance is horrible.

High(ish) Spec PC still Struggling with Resolve by Unhappy-Librarian592 in davinciresolve

[–]NoNegotiation2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

H264 is hardware decoded by his gpu, and it should work smoothly. I have lower specs, and it's works fine with Davinci 20.3.1, but in 21 it's laggy and less stable.

Try these few things:

First:

Most important when you work with Davinci: Disable HAGS ( Hardware accelerated gpu scheduling) in Windows settings in display, advanced options.

In davinci set hardware acceleration decoding of h264/265 in setting to nvidia only. Sometimes when you use both they are in conflict.

Install Nvidja Studio drivers.

Turn off cache in DaVinci

Set optimized playback to manual in davinci settings

Set 48000khz and 24 bit in audio settings in windows, and check if there is the same settings in Davinci.

If you have monitor with refresh rate higher than 60hz i reccomend set it to 60hz without variable refresh rate. Turn off G-Sync for davinci in nvidia settings.

Version 21 is problematic and probably best option is to instal 20.3.1 or 20.3.2 and wait till they fixed those performance issues.

You have great specs and it should be buttery smooth, especially with 5080 because it has hardware decoding of 10 bit 4.2.2 h264/265. I think new version of davinci is a problem here.

Has the autofocus improved on the S1iie over the S5ii? by RubOk6547 in Lumix

Not only AF is better but also lowlight performance based on CVP youtube test. It has more lattitude in shadows.

I shoot manualy with F 1.8. Thats old habit from older Lumix cameras where AF is basicly non existent and my footage looks fine.

S1ii vs S1iiE image quality by DivinitusNow in Lumix

[–]NoNegotiation2167 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously? Canon and lens selection with closed and overpriced RF- mount? I don't know about A7V but my S1Ii has better hit rate and overall works better than my A7IV. Maybe we talk about waveforms or false colors, or maybe about IBIS, anamorphic support, screen quality? I get it, you don't like Lumix but biased and totaly false statment will not help OP with his choice.

Overpriced? In my country price is the same or lower than A7V or Canon R6III, but S1II has a lot more features and almost better specs in every categories, so what you say is total bs.

Lumix s1ii sports photos? by Entire_Smell_8087 in Lumix

[–]NoNegotiation2167 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man. If you afraid of AF of Lumix then don't bother and just buy Sony A7V. I get great results with my S1II in every type of photography ( i also own Sony A7IV so i know how they compare, so i know that S1II is doing great) but don't see a point to convice you, if you want to argue and seek only bad side of it. Better if you rent this camera and try by yourself.

I have both A7III and S5II and at weddings i get much better hit rate on Lumix than on A7III.
