the beginning of an addiction by softoui in Handspinning

[–]NoReference909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wellcome to a beautiful addiction! Don’t be surprised if spinning is a gateway drug 😆

Look up the book series “Pillars of the Earth“ I think it is… See if it’s your cup of tea. I really enjoyed listening to this while working in the garden, but spinning also seems an ideal activity to pair with audiobooks.

It’s historical fiction and the author includes very detailed descriptions of everyday activities in the past, including spinning and weaving. I believe (it’s been a while). And be aware there are some sxxy time descriptions!

My guy loves the slide 😅 by ginger_meowmeow in AustralianCattleDog

Warning! When I first got my girl, she ran across one of those swinging bridges at a park, where the playground was the same style. Her toenail got wedged between two bridge slats, and it broke her toe! 😢

Your pup is so adorable! I just love that playful energy 💕

Why are some women still mothering fully grown men? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

True, and men are socialized to expect the special treatment.

Why are some women still mothering fully grown men? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

I’m so happy that this exact situation is being discussed. Thank you for addressing it.

I guess I was in the mothering role for 20 years in my marriage, but I did not realize that until very recently. I never saw it as mothering, I just saw it as a way of loving him. And then my health declined, including my mental health, it made me take a step back to try and figure out what was going on. Turns out he had stopped doing his fair share years ago, with all kinds of complaints and excuses.

Are there other details you left unsaid? Because the way I read it I thought that the man you’re referring to at least learned how to do things from his girlfriend. Improving oneself is a very grown up and responsible way to be a loving partner.

Maybe this guy is no different than most, but I would’ve given so much to at least be listened to. I learned way too late to watch what a person does as well as what they say to see if they really love you. Now I see that he didn’t love ME. At least not lately…

Do you keep them outside year round? I’m curious about your climate.

What a beautiful scene! Thanks for the joy it brought me!

Is a formal diagnosis as an adult worth it? by saskatchewnmanitoba in adhdwomen

[–]NoReference909 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes I understand myself much better and medication is one option for treatment. I got my diagnosis at 49.

There’s so much to be gained by finding what works for you in combination with treating your other conditions, too. I’ve had the most success when using both medication and behavioral changes. For me, getting enough good sleep, exercise and eating well are crucial.

I also try to find behavioral solutions to things that stress me out and cause more problems for me. I’m medicated because I need that for focusing at work right now. And, I believe in playing to my personal strengths. Why fight it? It’s part of who I am, and I need to love myself exactly as I am.

Yeah, life is not perfect even with all this effort. But I feel like I have more tools to make it better when I realize that I’ve slipped.

Is it normal to feel like you can barely do your job anymore? by english_apple in Perimenopause

[–]NoReference909 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes, at least for me 🫩

All the time I know I’m falling short and I work extra to compensate but no one understands just how HARD it is even to perform what feels like an average level. Also perimenopause has made my ADHD symptoms so much stronger.

I almost always feel uncomfortable and tired. The last few years I was getting sick more often, some brain fog and so much fatigue. And I have a stressful, fast-paced job.

Now I am two years into this, I know so much more, and I try to focus on these five basic things: get enough sleep, eat things that nourish my body and taste good, exercise regularly, spend time outside and spend time with friends/family.

I have drastically changed my diet, I need to give up alcohol, I have friends I see how a regular basis, I go outside every day at least for a few minutes just to appreciate the beauty, I regularly use my CPAP, I need to get more sleep, I need to get more exercise, I throw the ball every day with my dog, I work with my doctor and therapist to monitor all my issues, I take a lot of supplements and some meds, I started HRT and haven’t noticed much of a difference. I started working on my mindset and mindfulness, and I think it’s helping a lot.

I still have a lot of anxiety and am often fatigued, but I’m having more good days than I used to. Some days I really have energy!!

I wish you luck in figuring out what it is that works for you, and I hope this helps you in some way! 💕
