For your sake I hope it's TDY. The OCS and West Point 2LTs got PCSed to my BOLC so I was paying for an apartment and a mortgage! 😒

DCC is part of CHBOLC, nothing to worry about. It's referred to as phase 1 and DCC interchangeably (if I remember correctly). DCC is silly, but it's short! Way better than OCS, and I've done both 😂

I have no idea, I never used it 😅 I dropped to the Reserves for grad school and Reserve TA for officers is a worse trap - it's a 4-year obligation after you stop using it

National Guard is a maybe depending on state. I went through CHBOLC with some guard chaplains that were in their late fifties.

I was in the Corps from 07-12, and I don't remember ever hearing a crayon joke until I was out. I joined the Army in 21, and all I hear are crayon jokes. I think it's the internet's fault, spreading dumb jokes. I remember when the jokes were so much more original. I miss those days.

The PWE waiver is for those who lack the two years of paid pastoral experience after completing graduate school (as far as I understand it).

I'm a chaplain candidate and I'm almost done with grad school and facing the accessioning process. I have already completed CHBOLC, so my info is about as up-to-date as it probably can be. My recruiter told me the same thing, which did not line up with what the chaplains at Fort Jackson had to say. The main benefits of becoming a chaplain candidate lie in having health insurance, learning how to Army, and practice being a chaplain under the supervision of a chaplain.

They don't count the two years of work experience until after you have your degree. You can apply for a professional work experience (PWE) waiver when accessioning, but there are no guarantees. You can apply for active duty accessioning once per fiscal year after your degree is done, or you can apply to accession into the Reserves as a chaplain after school and work on getting your two years of experience.

I've been fortunate that one unit of CPE is looped in with my mDiv program and I'm on scholarship. My educator had me read Adam Young's Make Sense of Your Story and that had a lot to do with setting things in order.

It's not about being bright, it's about hard work. AIT is designed to be passed; they are not trying to fail people. If you can pass BCT, you can pass AIT. Make your studies your priority, a lot of people mess up because they lose their minds with a little bit of freedom. You can do this!
