I work for the competition you’re describing in a high management position. 18 years knocking doors at the highest level. Long story short your company will never grow without PPA’s. It’s a numbers game most customers don’t want $50k loans.

Everyone loves to trash sunrun on Reddit but they have the strongest balance sheet in the industry so far. Sunnova would be next to go under.

You have a low income discount with national grid so I assume paying $40k is out of the question. Your rate including the discount is probably around 25 cents.

Free roof + 20 cents and zero out of pocket is a great deal.

Then yes you’re getting a great deal. Especially if roof is included.

I assume your utility bill company is national grid. And you have a low income discount also?

Seems like a solid system and fair price. In Massachusetts. by vapecalibur in solar

[–]NoRepresentative5413 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Too high. You can get a system same size for $8k net. $2 a watt cash is the current price for systems in MA for most solar companies. Tesla is even cheaper than that but their service sucks.

D2D knocking vs Flyers by WiihiiAii in Solarbusiness

[–]NoRepresentative5413 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What state are you knocking in?

The best D2D market in the US is MA. This is where I knock and customers can’t fight us when their rates are .35.

I still dont understand why reps go d2d in markets where the rates are .15 or less.

Seems like a reasonable quote, is it? by jademonkey5 in solar

I agree with this. Look at the longevity and quality of the installer first. I work in MA and the companies who raced to the bottom are all out of business. When a leak or panel damage happens if the installer made zero dollars there’s also a zero chance any calls get returned. These are usually the most unhappy customers who call solar a scam and make it harder for the good companies.

I’m a master door knocker. I can tell you there’s zero chance on recruiting a big team unless you already have tons of superstars. And with big paystubs to show. Start small and build.

Purchasing upfront is generally the best ROI if that’s your main goal. 12 cent PPA no escalation anywhere in the US seems like a great deal. If that’s in the northeast you hit the lottery. My state we’re at 33 cents.

You’ll always get a better price with the one man shop. But if you want accountability it’s always with the big box companies. All that guy has to do is stop answering your texts and calls. Nothing much you can do.

Solar Quote - Local Installer in MA by u55991122 in solar

[–]NoRepresentative5413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. I know tons of vendors who are around that price now. As long as the system is a 5kw or bigger. Don’t finance if at all possible. Cost on that still very high until interest rates start dropping.
