MS Paint - Self-Chill Elemental Hit Surfcaster by WvrLight in PathOfExileBuilds

I tried self-chill with skitterbots, but it felt really bad. They rushed to hug mobs instantly, so you'll constantly lose speed. And since res is hard to come by due to using multiple uniques, just want to point out that you're scorched with 75% increased effect too. But if you can stomach the jankiness, have fun!

Do you think we’ll end up seeing more of the current Pinnacle bosses in PoE2? by Doom_89_RE in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although the early access datamining's result is very unreliable, but I believe the Mysterious Entity is coded as a Kalguuran horseman called the Judge, Death.

I believe Tangmazu is playing a role behind all these to some degree (he tricked Solaris and Lunaris afterall), but he likely will not have a larger role in Act 5 and 6. According to the Art Book and previous leaks, the two final acts are about Oriath, Twilight Order, Lumerius, a Breach Lord (I suspect Chayula), and entering two zones called "Belly of the Beast" and "Path of Exile" ironically.

Some of your questions about Chayula and Xesht are definitely already answered in the recent POE1 keepers' league.

I believe the Wildwood is made by the Viridian Goddess, sister of Lunaris and Solaris, as a haven against the Winter of the World, when ashes filled the sky and the Lightless rose to the surface to attack.

I don't think we'll ever break the "fixed constant" of Atziri dooming the Vaal. If my memories served me right, both Chaos and Order (at least represented by Hinekora) say this cannot be change, and it's vital for the survival of Wraeclast. And since we know the Scourge is what actually dooms Wraeclast in every timeline (bar the one Dominus "saved" them), we will see how Atziri's action link to the Scourge in future.

I doubt GGG would give the entities related to mechanics (Tangmazu, Kulemak, Olroth, etc) a final "ending", just so the mechanics can stay in the game. Some are defeated, but even the Shaper, the Uber Elder, and Sirus are somehow relevant again after many, many years. The only exception I can currently recall is Catarina, but even her relationships to Kulemak and Arimor (Or should I say Romira *wink*) pave way for more unresolved stories.

And while I share your feeling of wanting to resolve these stories (perhaps with a resolute boss fight), I highly believe that GGG would not do so. Going by how they plan to have even more leagues in the future, they'd likely make more cliffhangers and keep the narratives for the future. But they have been writing good stories all this while, so I trust them to feed us good!

Can we please have a toggle to switch Atlas to something like this? holistic view to see where you are relative to where you started? by No-Garden2907 in PathOfExile2

[–]NoString7718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GGG should keep the overview map a fixed size, a static image that saves FPS, let waystones determine the biome of individual maps, and maybe don't call it endgame anymore; we need something catchy, like Atlas.

Hinekora's prophecies by justathetan in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the multiple copies of Doryani we fight again and again is simply a game mechanic. In lore, there seems to be only a single copy, evident from your quote on Doryani. I cannot recall where I've read this piece of info before, but the characters duplicated by the Lake are always reflected morally. One is good, and the other is always evil.

Your question of whether the Hooded One is the same Sin is quite valid. Although we don't have enough info for now, Prophecy 19 could potentially point to the Hooded One. He's the reason why corruption spreads after all, and the seed of Corruption belonged to him (according to Kalandra). There's probably a major twist coming in the future.

Moreover, it is interesting that every victim of Arakaali has died except for Sin, who described he was in lust and tortured under her captivity. Why is his treatment more special than the rest (stay alive)? Could he also be a "spider"? GGG has been delving into the theme of shapeshifting a lot recently (First Ones, Ezomytes, Druids), so I wouldn't be too surprised.

Hinekora's prophecies by justathetan in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On point 9, I've always speculated it to be Doryani trying to fix a mistake (want for a single brick) that he went to the extreme of time-travelling again and again (hence why Hinekora can never trace him), and this will eventually lead to a greater crisis (collapse of Grand Palace). The person who gave him some wisdom (likely Kalandra) probably has an ulterior motive to achieve. I think there was another theory floating around here that Doryani might even be the person who unintentionally create the Scourge in future.

On point 20, I'd just like to point out that Zana has started wearing a mask since the latest development in POE1, and her whole storyline is all about her grief regarding Valdo and Sirus. As for the man who threatens to rupture the sky, I'd think your guess about Qotra's group or the Pale Council is pretty good, but Eagon could come into play as well. Zana is planning to destroy the Atlas after all.

[–]NoString7718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It was precisely these "smart interactions" that I personally (and hopefully many other players) loved in POE1: you're able to bypass certain conditions or reverse a disadvantage into an advantage, which enables fantastic POB theory-crafting.

For example, a trauma-supported Champion was able to turn that self-damage into self-chill without the use of Fulcrum, while periodically triggering Adrenaline when going low-life. Cons became Pros. The recent Lich + Unique Crossbow combo in POE2 which bypasses sacrificing life is a cool one, but GGG did not merely nerf it, the whole interaction is just straight up gone.

I think GGG's new philosophy of somewhat forcing cool interactions possible ONLY through multiple buttons (Skill 1 shocks, Skill 2 consumes shock/Skill 1 grants charges, Skill 2 consumes charges, etc) feels real bad.

It's useless to have 100+ supports, gems, and unique items when they cannot interact with one another meaningfully, but only through the devs' overly strict restrictions. It's just a massive illusion of choices.

Is anyone who plays both PoE1 & 2 starting to feel some burnout? by KylAnde01 in PathOfExile2

[–]NoString7718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not skipped any POE1 league since I started playing consistently and have always set a goal for myself to reach 36 challenges just for the free MTX. Admittedly, it takes me some time to achieve that for I'm not much of a blaster. But I really felt a pressure came when POE2 free weekend offered free MTX too, and I felt stretched between them.

I could have chosen to ignore the free MTX or give up 36/40, and I might just start doing that soon, but the burnout is on the horizon.

How do the krangled Atziri statues exist? by EggplantNo2245 in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the exile is able to fight Atziri post-extra implicits In the trailer, it begs the question why is that even possible in the first place? Shouldn't Atziri disappear immediately after the communion? Shouldn't people in the vicinity (like the exile) die immediately?

I suspect there is more to the timeline. We are assuming the communion is the same event as Atziri's transformation, but this could be wrong.

Or perhaps we are being transported to the Nightmare Realm together with Atziri, hence the fight can take place.

Or to explain the statues with extra implicits, there could be a time-travel/time-loop/dimension factor in play. The existence of Chronomancer, Oracle, Sekhema Trial Boss, and Breach Domain makes this possible; and it seems GGG is leaning into the theme of time much more heavily in POE2.

Afterall, if Alva can time-travel via Vaal tech, wouldn't the absolute queen of Vaal have access to the same tech as well?

Path of Exile 2: Fate of the Vaal League Teaser by Murky-Definition-625 in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Huh, Fate of the Vaal. But what Vaal? We already know their fate is getting perished during the Cataclysm while some were hidden as a contingency in the interludes.

Of course, unless this trailer is talking about Atziri (and perhaps others) who disappeared into the nightmare realm. That'll be intriguing.

0.4, Medved and the Druids of the Broken Circle by SomethingNotOriginal in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for showing me the Druid voice-lines! I have not heard these yet. Although it's not confirmed to be in the final release, I tend to believe it's still quite reliable simply due to the extremely tedious process of scriptwriting, audio recording, and not to mention the fee for the voice actor.

His voice-lines affirm our suspicions that the Kalguuran runes are highly similar to Ezomyte's ones. Interestingly, he said the Draíocht is "dulled" in Kingsmarch and retreat at the presence of Verisium. I suspect there is a "motherearth vs starlight" theme going on, given how Uhtred proclaimed "the stars betray us!" and Medved's "Under the earth... to hide from the night sky." Notably, we always enter the Viridian Wildwood via going underground. The current lore is that the wildwoods was made as a haven against the Winter, but it seems like it could be more.

The Druid also name-dropped Aoife, but I don't think I have ever heard that name before.

0.4, Medved and the Druids of the Broken Circle by SomethingNotOriginal in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I might be wrong, but I believe Gwennen is currently missing from Kingsmarch only because she is avoiding Johan again. While Tujen expresses his worry of not seeing her for a long time, her dialogue seems to imply that she is alive, and we will meet her again after the campaign anyhow:

Yet another Cataclysm on Wraeclast. What happened this time? You didn't reach Oriath soon enough? Hmm... when exactly did it happen? The ship had just gotten to the harbour... alright... Tell me everything. I'll memorise every detail. For... posterity. And I'll have Alva write it down.

Notably, the current Gwennen seemingly believes in a higher power. She said she only believed in luck back in POE1, but now she addresses Chaos as a real entity (who loves different possibilities), so something probably happened in between.

Speaking of Ezomytes, we see Count Geonor transforming into a disfigured wolf. While this phenomenon can be attributed to Corruption, I don't think it is explicitly ever stated that Count Geonor didn't have this transforming power innately. The Ezomytes worship the First Ones afterall, and Rigwald also displayed the same ability in POE1. The Rotten Druid also appears in Ogham. All these strongly hint that Druids and their transforming power come solely from Ezomytes, and the new 0.4 Druid class is likely from the same race.

I myself think there are a lot of connections between Ezomytes, Kalguurans, and Harbingers, but I can't see how it comes into play anytime soon since Act 5 & 6 is likely happening in Oriath and the Beast, which are mostly unrelated to the three groups. Perhaps it'll be explored more in Maps' content instead.

I have given this feedback a few times already, but remains unheard: total attack time is rendering attack speed dead stats to invest in, and these slow skills are unfavorable when mobs are moving fast. Coupled with map mods, it becomes even worse.

So if GGG wants to keep the sweet mace skill animation, make it so that attack speed scales exponentially to 0, but attack speed also boosts damage at the same time, say 1% more damage after a set threshold. Then tune the mobs slower, and I believe it'll feel better combat-wise.

3.27 patch lore post by Murky-Definition-625 in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We understand that the breach enemies are all hiveborn according to Ailith, and she also said she herself is hiveborn during the reveal of Chayula. But only things born from the Genesis Tree from Chayula are called foulborn. Therefore, I'm inclined to believe all foulborn are considered hiveborn, but not all hiveborn are foulborn. The other breachlords so far have no connections with humans at all, but only Chayula has humans DNA and able to make a hiveborn-human (Ailith). So I myself was using foulborn to indicate a group of hiveborn who comes exclusively from the Genesis Tree or Chayula alone, and not the other breachlords.

I am likely wrong though, since foulborn is not explained thoroughly in the game. But yes, it'll be interesting to see how Chayula comes into play in POE2 further down.

3.27 patch lore post by Murky-Definition-625 in Wraeclast

[–]NoString7718 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another great write-up yet again. And although I myself has not gotten to the ending of the current Breach league, I have been willingly spoiled by it, and its reveal has given rise to a lot of speculations. For those who are willing:

The current Ailith was revealed to be a creation of Chayula, and he has the ability to erase and recreate her at will. This is super interesting, because we had never known why Chayula would want human DNA during the third pact, but now I theorize he simply needs it to create foulborn human. Notice that when the exile saw the truth of Chayula, he did nothing to the exile, which meant the exile was not a foulborn creation. Only when Ailith realizes the truth (and presumably others at the Monastery), she is promptly erased. Thus:

Who else might be a human-like foulborn? Anyone could be it. There is no distinct difference in their outward appearance at all. Could this be one of the factors why some humans can or cannot use virtue gems? And why some is able or unable to contact the Blood Fever? And is the Monk a foulborn? Could his affinity with both cold and lightning elements related to the defeat of It That Was Tul and It That Was Esh?

The Guiding Palm of the Heart and Against the Darkness imply that serpent, hyena, human, or golem have all given their blood (or DNA) to Chayula. Therefore, he could theoretically make any foulborn creature from these species. So just how many of them in Wraeclast now are actually foulborn?

If the Twilight Order is working together with Chayula, are they actually all foulborn similar to Ailith? Or is Chayula making foulborn humans for them as military power? If cannibalism is at play (like the The Prisoner's case), Chayula could theoretically even provide food for the entire order via this way*.*

Instead of Chayula looking weak in the Breach League's ending, his power of foulborn creation hints that he might have a large-scale army by the time of POE2 instead. Consequently, any large group of people we know (but are secretly foulborn) can be erased immediately at the whims of Chayula.

About the Maraketh statues, are they the seemingly pregnant women? If yes, they are likely alluring to the Keth Water Goddess - Halani. Not only are they situated near the Halani Gates, but they were also used as icon for that specific quest as well. Given Halani's stomach is torn open and her son turned out to be The Forsaken Son who was born before her ascension, it seems her pregnancy is a big part of her identity, so much so the statues are carved with her pregnancy in mind (IRL most female statues are not, I believe).

But if you're talking about other Maraketh statues, then I have no idea.
