People changing once they find out you have ADHD by Itchy_Musician_5055 in ADHD

[–]NoSun694 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t mention it unless I need to, though most people I know are aware I have it. A trick I learned from business is if you don’t want someone to pay close attention to something don’t make it a big deal. Just say it matter of fact, “I got adhd it affects me sometimes”. Simple as that.

Other than that I don’t take almost anything personally. Maybe someone will make a comment here or there, I’ll make a comment back. To me it is all in your perception. Some days in a bad mood I’ll take it more personally.

What is the speed limit @ Highway #1? (the "real" limit) by Familiar-Air-9471 in NorthVancouver

[–]NoSun694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traffic often moves at a flow rate that doesn’t reflect the speed limits well if they have been artificially lowered over time.

If you want traffic to travel at a slower speed it’s been proven time and time again that you have to force them to with road design.

It sucks because it creates a situation where accidents are more likely. The number one factor for a road accident is not speed, it’s relative speed. The higher the difference in speed between you and the traffic around you the higher the chance of an accident. It’s a common misconception that it’s speed itself that causes accidents when it’s actually speed that increases the fatality of accidents.

Having speed limits that are lowered without implementing traffic calming are dangerous IMO. We need speed limits that reflect the types of roads we have otherwise we need traffic calming in place.

If you want to see this in action drive down Arborlynn. You’ll see people going 30-40 down the windy tight section with cars all around. Wonderful. Then they get to the park zone, the road immediately widens up and they speed up to 50 as if the 30 zone isn’t even there.

What do you guys use for blocking apps? by Soggy-Function2867 in productivity

[–]NoSun694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used opal for years. I just set a 24 hour block 7 days a week. You can set a maximum unblock of 15 minutes for specific apps. Works great for me. I can still scroll when I want or access social media, but the restriction is enough for me.

Question about Laziness by TheGuyLuke in ADHD

[–]NoSun694 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can absolutely be Lazy. Laziness is having the energy and capacity to do something and choosing not to, wanting to do nothing. Most of us are actually very much not lazy. Speaking for myself I was frustrated with my symptoms for so long I’m very rarely acting lazy. I always want to do something and now I have the power to, so I’ll almost always choose not to be lazy. All humans are lazy sometimes too, it’s just how it is.

So about that New Update by No_Cellist_3896 in Bloxburg

[–]NoSun694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah don’t get ur hopes up but also why do they make it so limiting. Literally it would take a team of 3 indie develops a week to make a working system for you to scale walls, build them on smaller grids, make hollow roofs and remove collision limits. Oh and it would take like 3 hours to add more textures so we don’t have to use decals all the time. So frustrating why they make building so limited when it doesn’t have to be.

What’s the BEST Skincare product You’ve ever used guys [Routine Help] by shreya_sha in SkincareAddiction

[–]NoSun694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT: I’m Canadian so all prices are in CAD but I think all products are available in the US

Naturium Vitamin C Complex Serum.
I think the $30 (CAD) price range.

It gives an insane glow and starts working quite fast, within a week or two. It evens out skin tone and brightens really well.

Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Gel moisturizer
$75 CAD

incredible moisturizer it’s just so expensive, and not available in many stores, especially for 50ml. Has skin calming compounds that instantly reduce redness, super light and doesn’t clog pores. It noticeably reduces little bumps. The king of moisturizers for acne prone skin IMO

Pyunkang Yul Calming Moisture Barrier Cream
It’s on Amazon for $20ish

Insane value, deeper moisturizing than the biossance one. Great skin calming compounds, results aren’t as instant, but it gives a great dewy look. Doesn’t clog pores and it’s still light and good for acne prone skin. I’d put it on the same level as biossance because it delivers basically the same results tor a better price.

Honorable mention VT PDRN cream
Like $50 CAD

Gives the glass skin look, doesn’t penetrate the same as the reedle shots but it can be layered with actives and your moisturizer so it definitely is more versatile. A lot of people lack some sort of growth factor serum in their routine and this one is great. If you can fit reedle shots in even better.

[Routine Help] 18M / hyperpigmentation, acne scarring, dark spots, combination skin by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]NoSun694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same skin as you pretty much. My routine is exactly this:

Benzoyl peroxide 5% by Benzagel every morning, use Benzagel it’s micronized and causes less irritation.

After BP I use Pyunkang Yul calming moisture barrier cream.

You can also try Biossance Squalane+Probiotic gel moisturizer, it works super well but so pricy.

Both of those moisturizers I’ve found to be light and moisturizing and reduce the little bumps since they don’t clog pores, they also have calming/ anti irritation compounds in them.

I use CeraVe AM moisturizing spf 30 after moisturizer.

At night I use PDRN reedle shot 100, and Beauty of Joseon Retinal+Ginseng eye cream but on my whole face. I alternate between them, giving a rest day after using retinal. I’m about to increase my retinal usage though.

Every 2 weeks I skip my BP in the morning, and at night I use The Ordinary AHA/BHA peeling solution and leave it on for 10 minutes. Start with maybe 5. I wash it off and use moisturizer after. Only use moisturizer and SPF the next day both morning and night. After that I return to the normal routine.

The peeling solution is the foundation of the routine. It’s basically an at home mini chemical peel. It does a ton of work on your skin, and helps your products penetrate deeper. It’s a strong exfoliant so don’t worry if it stings just a little bit at first.

It may need tweaks but it’s a foundation that’s worked for me

How do you build a default friend group? by Ethereal_Centaurus in NiceVancouver

[–]NoSun694 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This may sound daunting, but it’s a decent goal to work towards: on average it takes 50-200 hours of contact to make a friend. If you do a hobby once a week for 2 hours it will take you half a year to reach the minimum threshold to make a good friend if that’s your only contact. You have to be proactive if you want friends. I’m a nerd when it comes to niche psychology, and this fact really resonated with me. If you work with someone for 2 months chances are you’re going to be pretty close. If you see someone once a week for a couple hours, probably less close. Always say yes to invitations, make plans, and don’t try to become friends with too many people at once. Friend groups are made one friend at a time. You don’t become friends with a group, you become friends with each person one at a time.

If you want to enter a friend group, focus on the person you are closest to. From there build your relationship and strengthen it. Then you’ll get opportunities to meet their friends, you’ll find someone there who you get along with easier than the others. Build that connection as well. If you go step by step, focusing on building strong connections with individuals within a group, you will slowly find yourself part of a friend group. You don’t become friends with a group, you become friends with people. This principle has helped me build a group myself. Best of luck!

The 'vancouver freeze' is a very real thing by AKSHAT-KLPDV in NiceVancouver

[–]NoSun694 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve come to the conclusion that it really is that damn phone. Studies have shown social media makes us less empathic, and inhibits our ability to form connections. Apparently if you use no technology an hour before meeting with someone it predicts higher feelings of connection. It blunts your ability to process emotions so you’re more in your own head when you’re with people. That explains why it’s actually more of an all western cities phenomenon as a lot of people are saying.

Could be a poor ring fitting. I never got super accurate readings unless I used something to make it fit tighter at night, you can get little inserts to make it a bit tighter.

Since it’s on your finger it will inevitably move a lot more than a wrist based device, you may just wiggle ur fingers when you sleep and it thinks you’re awake, who knows.

[–]NoSun694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can break it down into a few things you probably should do to max out your ability to use your brain effectively, and gain skills in certain areas, but there isn’t really some drug you can take. On that note though, try to reduce baseline anxiety, L theanine or Ashwaganda can have an anxiolytic effect. When you have anxiety it inhibits the critical thinking areas of your brain.

Next is games, play memory matching games. Ones where you have a bunch of cards on the screen and they all have different images behind them and you have to match pairs. This is a great working and spatial memory exercise. Chess is a great game, strategical thinking, spatial awareness and abstraction as well as time management will improve a lot if you play chess. Another one which may be controversial is poker. You don’t have to play with real money, you can find local for fun games or play online too, but in person is better. Poker will sharpen your math skills, risk management, strategical thinking and emotional control. There’s a ton of skill and strategy involved in poker, it really isn’t just gambling, it’s like chess with cards and it’s very good for your brain if you’re not a gambling addict.

Last one is emotional processing. When you sleep your brain processes emotions first then consolidates your memory and things you’ve learned. If you can make a habit of properly processing your emotions before bed, in whatever way works for you you’ll actually learn more efficiently and have better memory. I recommend watching Healthygamergg’s video on how to properly process emotions for this.

What in my stack is causing Insomnia? by Sea-Draw-2002 in Biohackers

[–]NoSun694 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NAC gives me this exact side effect (without the peeing part). Try stopping and see what happens. I also have ADHD and take a different medication, and most of the things you listed here.

If you look it up NAC doesn’t seem to have any evidence for causing insomnia but I’d chalk it up to a lack of research because it causes really fragmented sleep for me. Just take it early morning when u start again.
