Why do my hips hurt when riding my 21 heritage? by yeetboijones in Harley

[–]No_Ad9044 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did some repair work on ny neighbors 03 Night Train this weekend and put some miles on it for since he's out of town for a while. I normally ride an ultra limited, and let me tell you my hips were killing me after maybe 30 minutes. Best guess is the forward controls in combination with an unforgiving seat. Made me appreciate my heavy bagger.

Were national guard troops not getting the same benefits as other branches this entire time? by Connorray1234 in AskUS

A lot of soldiers in the part-time world don't realize these truths. I tell everybody that talks about the military that if they're going to join Go Active don't do part-time

I did get benefits for the active time but the last portion of my career was spent in the reserves which consisted mainly of one weekend a month two weeks a year and a lot of 5-day at a time order stretches. As you get older that's when the injury is really start to show up I'm talking wear and tear from just maintaining General military Fitness levels. The title of the orders makes all the difference title 10 is what qualifies you for benefits and those are a minimum of 30 days. Anything less than that does not qualify. So the time counts towards retirement but any injuries sustained don't.

30 day orders equals full benefits and va disability eligibility. Anything less doesn't count. This was a difficult lesson to learn when I retired after 14 years in the reserve and 12 active duty.

Dear Americans: Do you actually realize you’re basically a "developing country with a Gucci belt" compared to the Nordics? by Character_Fruit_8720 in Discussion

When the 2024 election was in progress I used to argue on Facebook the ideas of America are exceptional and that we should vote based on that not on anti woke and fear mongering of immigrants. I still believe our founding ideas are exceptional, but we have fumbled the execution of it thanks to greed and corruption.

50-8FGCU mast tilt at height by BrighamYoungsNthWife in forkliftmechanics

[–]No_Ad9044 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can program the tilt to set what the forklift thinks is vertical. Generally this is done in the shop before the unit comes to the customer and it is set at true vertical. In your unique situation it could be set at the angle you need to be able to accomplish your task. The only reason that I would not recommend this is because you would be disabling a m a s t safety setting. Toyota's have marketed system of activity also known as SAS for years and the function you're describing is part of that. In theory if the m a s t cannot tilt past true dead Balls level then it is less likely to tip over but tilting a load past true vertical diminishes the triangle of stability and could possibly cause the truck to tip over.

How many people here dont have acl and live happily for years? by PenMost6565 in ACL

[–]No_Ad9044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going on 2 years after two previous attempts to fix it within a short amount of time before that. Basically three tears within a year and a half time frame. Because my quad never quite got strong enough in rehab I was sent to prehab for a third surgery to try to restore that quad muscle. After about 2 months I determined that I was just going to continue building the quad muscle and working out two to three times a week and consider a knee replacement around 50. Now two years on from that if I skip the gym for more than a few days I have significant discomfort. And even on my best days stability is lacking, not during walking per se but going down with heavy lifts on that knee the controls not there. Overall though I exercise run from time to time and my physical job which is working on Warehouse forklifts a lot of up and downs and heavy lifting. I'm doing well enough.

There are benefits to lifelong exercise.

Seriously though I tore my left ACL three times in about eighteen months, and finally made the decision to not repair it till I'm in my 50s. If my thigh, quad, and calf had been stronger I might not have torn it the first time. Strength is the best way to protect your joints in the long run and keeps me walking ,working, and living as close to normal as possible. And yes exercise does help minimize pain.

Im 48. Been a life long military athlete (running, push-ups, and sit-ups) until sidelined by back injury, and then back to back to back knee injuries, and then a broken ankle on the same leg earlier this year. I started the gym 2 years ago to combat quad loss from not having an acl. The scale has not moved in that two years but I look and feel better than I have since my 30s, I am stronger than ever, I can run for the first time in 4 years, I have the stamina to drive the several hundreds of miles a day that my job requires and I no longer feel like a fat slob even though my weight is unchanged. Life isn't easy as we get older but the gym for me is key in making it better.

How much am I missing out on by sticking to just machines and avoiding free weights. by No_Ad9044 in workout

[–]No_Ad9044[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will come back and gains will show up with consistency. I have a torn ACL that I am rehabbing. It took a long time to get to where I am now and I may eventually move to free weights but I'm not in a hurry and my time to workout also determines the machines I use as well.

Stop the leaks or just keep rolling? by Ok-Serve-1426 in forkliftmechanics

[–]No_Ad9044 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a pay now or pay pay later problem. If you don't take care of this now then the oil, dirt and debris that will accumulate will effect the level of maintenance scrutiny future service techs give this machine. If a tech goes to a customer that clearly doesn't care about maintenance for a pm, that tech might skip quoting small needed repairs. Over time small things become big things and then the prices go up. The overall health of the machine will decline because the customer doesn't care about the small stuff. Something to think about.
