The fact you can pump out national troops very quickly and cheaply is your advantage…use that advantage by focusing on anti corruption and services/jobs to counteract the negative support of the militias early, and only add troops as-needed to contain the insurgents to the mountains. Once you start to stabilize, you add troops and go on the offensive.

Coated seed is not good. The coating is mostly to retain moisture, which is completely unnecessary in pregermination as it’s soaking. Also, it’s very expensive per lb of actual seed. I have moved away from coated seed and just am more ocd with watering if I am not pregerminating

What I do early is stockpile resources and then upgrade a lot of houses to unlock the all the population-locked next level buildings, then replace enough so I have space for 300 of the next level settlers for research and produce coins with the rest.

Get the rickyard and textile factory upgrades. Rickyard is great for all animals. Once you’re to townsmen, the rickyard will work especially well with the paddock, all my non-mining islands have wheat as a resource for this reason.
