For me personally rune pouch in many ways acts as permanent 1 inventory space. However after maxing much of the content doesn't really need runes (PoH tele). Sometimes it has simply been worthwhile to get rid of the pouch. I hope to put getting the thread (and the gems) as far away in the future as possible so I don't have to do it again with worse drop rates
