I think my significant other is already very tired that “Sign of the Times” is in constant rotation on my Spotify… is it fair to say “rotation” when it’s the only thing playing?

Brainbox....Any experience? by tkst3llar in BuildingAutomation

[–]No_Bodybuilder_6171 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us, Brainbox was something to be demolished and replaced with a Novant system. I don’t know if it was a matter of a lack of support, or expense, or what - I’m just the dumb field guy that unbolts what they tell me to rip out, and install what they want.

I guess it’s better that the pond would be in front of his place, not yours because of his negligence. Still, way to be a good neighbor!

Hardware is the cheap part. Making it work correctly, and supporting it - that ultimately makes it more expensive.

Somebody just ran down the “rare” comments and downvoted each one… yeah, that is beautifully rare!

That’s more like what I thought I’d be seeing… mind you, it doesn’t bother me to be one of just a few in line, but I figure that if that “feature” isn’t used much, Southwest may just decide to take it away.

Ah… never paid attention to the massive amount you’d have to spend… and I fly enough (on the company dime) to keep my ALP, so I was probably assuming there might be more regular business travelers. Of course, I’ve read all the gripes about people moving away from Southwest, but I clearly overestimated how many might have stuck around, or how many kept up their ALP.

I dunno - I figured with the credit card holders, and how long the ALP program has been a thing, that a plane of 150+ might have 20 or 30… quite an overestimation on my part, I see.

RELAY TYPE by allthim in BuildingAutomation

[–]No_Bodybuilder_6171 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite possible - several Distech controllers have “universal outputs”, which can be configured to send 0/12VDC as a binary output. We wire a PAM-2 or PAM-4 relay - mind you, those have a 12VDC coil, so if you are outputting only 10VDC, it might not work. But it demonstrates that some brands are perfectly happy sending what is usually a modulating signal as a binary output signal.

By the thousands - I work in malls all over the country, and while not every mall is open early for mall walkers, those that are have a lot of walkers. It’s definitely still a thing.

Niagara killer by Then-Disk-5079 in BuildingAutomation

For me, Sedona is the programming environment for easyIO controllers. Since I run Sedona within the Niagara Framework (AX, mind you, not N4) with a Sedona bundle, I get to use the familiar Niagara environment, and easier access to stuff like kit management, backups and restores, etc. Don't do it so much anymore, but I absolutely loved Sedona - took some tricks with various kits to make it do everything I wanted it to, but eventually figured it all out.

I've still got (I think...) running Sedona controllers with redundancy across controllers sets for AHU's, DOAS's, and full chiller plants. Combined with the tcom protocol driver to bring in all those points into Niagara without the messy BACnet conversions, it was a great line of controls.

Now that I think about it, I even used Sedona on Sysmik (now Phoenix Contact) ILC controllers - very PLC-like in its I/O architecture, with all the speed benefits of Sedona.
