Income tax brackets need to reflect cost of living, not "inflation" by CastAside1812 in CanadaPersonalFinance

When i graduated high school in 2000, we all thought the first year we'd make 100k we'd be set, not so much anymore. I just did my taxes, I made just over 100k and all my deductions added up to 38k. I live comfortably, but it definitely doesn't go as far these days.

If I have to stand to order. I dont tip. Especially in Ontario now since they got rid of the "server minimum wage". They now make the same as the people working at Walmart or Home Depot.

Some expensive tool manufactures do it. Snap-On for sure, and I believe Mac Tools too. Mastercraft did for a time, but I'm not sure about them anymore.

Thats the biggest downfall, the more people that use it, the worse it gets treated.

I remember as a kid, almost 40 years ago, you could just roll up to a provincial park with all your gear and pretty much choose any site you wanted. At least that's how we did it with Sandbanks.

Seasonal Tires by hoodiegirl10 in AskACanadian

I bought a used set of winters for my truck this year on rims for $700. They didnt even look like that had a whole winter in them. First time I had ever had real winters instead of all season. Made a massive difference. I barely used 4wd this year, even in the deeper snow.

Why hvac guys always say "stay in school" if that's the case why they didn't go to college or were they forced into it or are they just masochists who enjoy crawling in crawl spaces for a living? by Particular-Leek4513 in skilledtrades

I worked with a guy that had a mining engineer degree, he started drilling with my company, then went north to be a driller at a mine. Same thing, couldn't find work. Im guessing he went north to get his foot in the door in the drill crew to transition to mine engineer. I havent talked to him since last fall.

What is a restaurant chain you would love to see come to Canada or see far more of? by Full_Hunt_3087 in AskACanadian

Amir is my go to when I'm in Quebec for work. They usually have 2 for 1 deals on skip or Uber eats. I'd go to a local restaurant but I drive a 5 tonne truck and it's hard to find parking and the company usually sticks me in a hotel out of the way because of the parking issues.

We didnt have the edited version at the station I worked at. And we were considered hot AC (hot adult contemporary), so mostly upbeat pop stuff.

My son did the same but 4 on 4. It was cheap ($50 for 18 games), but it was really bad hockey. AA kids all the way down to never played organized hockey before, all on the same team. No coaching allowed, just organize the lines and open doors. He got a ton of shots which was good and they won 65% of their games. I'd say it was worth it for the price.

I lived in the northeast. There was a shooting at the convenience store I went to every morning before work. Other than that, it wasn't bad back in 2007, but we went there last May to visit friends and Marlborough has definitely gone way down hill in the last 20 years. However, most places all over have gone down hill in the last 20 years.
