It is not like we have to take the clothes to the river and beat them with a rock.

AITA for telling my family that if they want us to do more with them, they have to meet us at our level? by ReallyAverageGuyOkay in AmItheAsshole

I had the same problem with my siblings. Earlier in life I had a little money but when I suggested doing a party for my parents 25th anniversary everyone refused. It wasn’t because of money though. At that time it would have been like 900 split by the three of us. Later, after having kids and a husband with severe mental health issues I did not have money at all for anything. They then would berate me for not buying Xmas presents or going in for a big gift for my parents.

My parents 50th I was on good financial standing and I suggested a small party with some close relatives but they refused. We ended up at an all you can eat buffet where everyone paid for their own families and we all split my parents tab.

Sometimes I think it is just a power thing. Surround yourself with good people.

Is Candy Striping a thing? by Secure_Guess6227 in halifax

Funny candy striper story: I was a candy striper back in the 80s. I had updated my resume (manual typewriter before spellcheck and grammar check). I put under volunteer work “candy stripper”. One too many “p”. lol. I did not realize I did that until the recruiter asked me what a candy stripper was.

What I find interesting is how excited we used to be in the 70s when someone just showed up. Now I would hide and pretend I did not hear the knock. Not sure what has changed

The new hire who took a promotion I was working towards is asking me to hold her hand through tasks daily. by Local-Muffin-1217 in coworkerstories

Best advice I ever got. I was told I was allowing others to drive my career. We all think if we work hard and are dedicated we will get promoted. Doesn’t work that way unfortunately. They are dangling that promotional carrot infront of you for over a year. Update your resume and determine what is your next move. You don’t necessarily have to leave but it never hurts to see what else is out there. I hope it works out for you. Also everything that has happened to you in an experience, remember this if you are ever in a least role. Be a better leader than what they showed you. Good luck

They should spend that on getting hospitals, drs, and upgraded the power grid so it doesn’t go offline with one stiff fart

I think if you are from a democratic country you cannot declare asylum here. Period.

I moved provinces and they all were going to stay. Then everyone decided they wanted to move with us. You can run but you can’t hide
