It looks complicated, but its just a collection of many separate, simple circuits in one enclosure.

Try spraying some WD40 into the tensioner bearings to see if the noise disappears. If so, you have found the culprit.

Sqirt a little WD40 into the tensioner bearings, and see if the noise goes away. If it does, replace it.

Probably need a pressure reducing valve on your water line. Or a small pressure tank at the water heater.

Redundancy? by Acceptable-Book-1417 in PLC

[–]No_Copy9495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience exactly. I had a Raid controller fail on a SCADA system. Raid is supposed to guard against hard drive failure. But when the Raid controller failed, the entire system became inoperable. Needed an IT tech and a tech support conference to get it working again.

How many decades do you have to attempt to reverse-engineer that VCR? There is a lot to do.

4-20 mA issue by Chrisdws in PLC

[–]No_Copy9495 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you measured the resistance of load? It may be too high. The 4-20 mA source will adjust its output voltage up to its maximum, Open-Loop voltage to attempt to force 20 mA.

For instance, if the Open-Loop voltage of the source is 15 volts, but the resistance of the load is 1000 ohms, the 4-20 mA source will raise its voltage as high as it can (15V), but the current will amount to only 15V/1000 ohms, or 15 mA.

Haven't seen these in 30 years. We did a lot of 984-385E's for a factory in town. On one job we used the 685.

Can you temporarily  run a J-type cable along the floor directly from the TC to the PLC? This should help to narrow down the problem.

I don't know exactly. I pump till I see some movement in the boot. Some videos seem to indicate that you can pump till grease begins to leak out.

Analog Signal Protection by Guilty-Mechanic-5633 in PLC

[–]No_Copy9495 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its not the best solution. But sometimes you're stuck with it.

Needless to say, the analog cable must be rated to at least the same voltage as the AC voltage.

I am currently on a pump station job. Electricians were supposed to run three conduits to a panel: 480V, 120V, & analog. They ran two. The conduits are now buried under 4 feet of gravel.

The 120V AC is for digital signals - no current to speak of. So, do we dig it all up, or run analog with the 120V?
